Loved the video. Thanks for sharing. I also write in my Bibles. Writing in my study materials is what I did for any topic so it was a natural study method for me.
I have always used a notebook and was very hesitant to underline or write in my Bible, but I did eventually get up the courage. I am still of two minds about it though. I heard someone say recently that they only write in pencil, so they can always erase it if they want to, so I'm currently trying that out. I also have switched from underlining a lot to just circling or colouring the verse number. It looks neater and doesn't really interfere with the actual words of Scripture. You can still colour-code using that method as well.
It’s definitely scary to start writing and highlighting in the Bible! I think whatever you and others are most comfortable with is best, that’s cool that you’re trying out different things to see what fits you best!
I also like to be able to erase what I've written in my Bible, because as a young and immature Christian, I often realize that God has thought me new more balanced and true things. But I found these markers that are erasable by friction, which I find very useful

Most of my Bible time is used on Sunday school lessons; not much reading/studying for myself. Would. like to increase that. BTW, I write in pencil with my "teaching" Bibles.

I agree with you about the NLT and I also have a NCV bible I also have a ESV bible but too hard to study for me. I started bible Study and journaling back in April. I was taught not to write in your bible back as a child.
Good for you for starting! It can definitely be a mental change but I think it’s okay to do as we aren’t disrespecting God but growing in our relationship with him further!

I am really looking forward to studying God's word more and want to get a journaling bible. I also much rather write in the margins that a separate notebook. Can I ask what color are the pages in your new bible, white or cream? My preference is white pages, if possible.

Hi! It really depends. I wasn’t bringing it to church with me before as I had a different smaller Bible I’d been using for a long time and was transitioning to this one. Now though I’m at university and it’s the only Bible I have so I do bring it to church. It’s bigger so doesn’t really fit in my smaller purse like the other one did but it’s not too bad to carry around in my opinion:)
Hi! I tried my best to show the bleed through in the video. It definetly depends on the pen. Gel pens are definetly shadowed on the back but not bleed through. The crayola markers didn’t bleed through unless I went over the same spot multiple times but you could still see the shadow of them on the back.

Praise God for ur vid. Thank u for sharing. NKJV translation is better than NLT. There are NKJV Journaling Bibles. I have 2, soft and hard covers bcuz I’m a Bible lover 🤣🥰 we have to be careful of the different versions of the Bible, some don’t capitalize He, Him when referring to God and Christ.

That is totally okay! There’s nothing wrong with writing in a separate place and I did that for a ping time as well before feeling comfortable writing in my Bible. Stay tuned because I have a video coming soon with different methods of writing in your Bible and one of them is for if you don’t feel comfortable writing on the pages!
Yeah I find that having a version that is beat for your reading style is so helpful when reading the Bible! So whatever you think best I thank you should go for it! I’m pretty sure they have those versions!

The NLT is not a literal translation for serious study that is close to the original Hebrew and Greek. The ESV or the CSB are much better Bibles to study with. So, I would advise you when studying to always look at one of those!

I have multiple Bibles for different purposes. 😁 I have a particular one dedicated for journaling.

Hi! I tried my best to show the bleed through in the video. It definetly depends on the pen. Gel pens are definetly shadowed on the back but not bleed through. The crayola markers didn’t bleed through unless I went over the same spot multiple times but you could still see the shadow of them on the back.

Praise God for ur vid. Thank u for sharing. NKJV translation is better than NLT. There are NKJV Journaling Bibles. I have 2, soft and hard covers bcuz I’m a Bible lover 🤣🥰 we have to be careful of the different versions of the Bible, some don’t capitalize He, Him when referring to God and Christ.

Yea that’s something I was disappointed in about the NLT is that it didn’t have the capitalization like the NKJV does:/ for me I think it’s mostly worth it as I can understand what the Bible is saying easier I’m NLT but I really wish they had the capitalization!

That is totally okay! There’s nothing wrong with writing in a separate place and I did that for a ping time as well before feeling comfortable writing in my Bible.

Yeah I find that having a version that is beat for your reading style is so helpful when reading the Bible! So whatever you think best I thank you should go for it! I’m pretty sure they have those versions!

The NLT is a garbage translation. You should have gotten a CSB.

@@gabriellahope37 The reason I said that about the NLT is because it is a very loose translation. The NLT is not a literal translation for serious study that is close to the original Hebrew and Greek. The ESV or the CSB are much better Bibles to study with. So, I would advise you when studying to always look at one of those!
