Hi, Deutsche Welle could make a nice documentary at Lake Bosomtwe - the only natural lake in Ghana. Overfishing is a major problem there!

The facilitator, Edith, lost control. Started off with commercial vessels illegal and unregulated. But then with the fisheries consultant we learn the commercial vessels are licensed, pay fees and are based in Tema. Two stories. Which is correct?

Incredible and intelligent participants. i hope all the concern and solutions raised would be taken up by the authorities but i think the industrial trolleys form a bigger part of the problem so the authorities should put in place foolproof and strict surveillance measures to ensure they adhere to the rules of the game. My heart goes out to the local fisherfolks because the big trolleys are making life hell for them thereby compelling them to adapt illegal fishing methods in order to make ends meet.
