Following our 'steps': how did we get here?
We are Adam (North American) and Bernardo (Brazilian) and we are husbands whose paths crossed back in 2016, when we both still lived in Brazil. Since the very beginning, we shared a common passion for travel and nature, which has only grown over the years and led us to this unexpected journey on RUclips, which has allowed us to connect with an amazing community that we’re beyond grateful for. “Go out and make memories” is our motto of living and a constant reminder for us that true happiness doesn’t come from the material wealth we accumulate, but from the memories we create and share with our loved ones throughout our existence. Happy Tuesday everyone! We're back and we wanted to do a sit down video with you. We haven't done one of these in a while, besides the challenges and the question and answers.
We aren't therapists here (clearly) but we had fun explaining how these subjects impacted our relationship. It's like we have a therapy session in front of the camera, haha.
Just curious, do you all talk about these in your relationship? Are they uncomfortable to talk about? We didn't think so. We think they might be at the start of a relationship.

The arguments is the one that resonates with me,my late husband was the 'Bernardo' ,he wanted everything settled ...he was the sort of person who didn't want to go to bed if we had argued whereas I just wanted things to calm down 🤔.
It's good to see you are still evolving in making the clips and as you said in the live chat Sunday when you start travelling again you want to increase content across You Tube/Patreon then different styles of clips will no doubt help ...

Adam and Bernardo I want to share something with you that my grandmother shared with me when I was little. When loved ones get into an argument never let the sun set on it try and resolve it before the sun sets. Some arguments might take a little time to get resolved. It's good to stop think about what you're going to say, before saying it because you can say something and not be able to take it back and feelings are hurt words are said and it's a lot more damage.

Marriage and relationships are difficult. I have lived together with my partner for 8 years. MarrIed for 3 years. Divorced for 3 years. Back together now for 3 years and with all the struggles we are happier now than ever. Never give up and know the grass is never greener on the other side.
You are my Zen after a long work day. You two bring light and love to so many. We need that now. Much Love.

You both reminded me so much of my big brother and my brother-in-law, in the early stages of their marriage relationship... Now 16 years later with 3 kids, they are still the same, except the fact that they are more in love with each.

As long as you can sit down and talk about a subject you should be able to work it out between the two of you. Life is a learning experience and the best thing you can do is learn and grow together. And I loved the bloopers at the end!
My husband and I shared an account( equal amount deposited monthly) and kept our individual accounts if we wanted to buy personal items or surprise each other with gifts. My pet peeves were that he would shave and leave the hairs in the sink. The worst was not replacing the toilet paper. Remember in the long run life is short and these little things really don’t matter. I miss all those silly things. Love you guys. 😀❤️❤️😘

Thanks so much Raemund. We just don't feel like we have any credentials for people to listen to us. Our pasts are CRAZY! haha. What we can say what has worked for us and yes, we've had some problems in some areas but that's the fun part of a relationship. Watching the other person overcome an obstacle with your help. What an amazing feeling.
I really enjoyed the way you chose to discuss these important couples relationship topics. I know in my own 2 marriages, some of these were hard to talk about w/o getting defensive. My last husband didn't ever want to have a disagreement. He called it fighting, which I thought was stupid! He never saw his parents disagree, (!!) while mine were very vocal. So he would get upset if I wanted to discuss something. You can't have an honest relationship in my opinion, if you won't be open with your partner. You two have that willingness to talk about any needs or issues. I think that strengthens any relationship. Your videos are a nice mix of activity, discussion, games, travel. That makes them ever fresh! You editing, photography and music choices are always improving, and show the time and effort you put into each one. This was great. Love you, Harriet

Boys, my therapy advice to you
1. Fix the small things before they balloon into big things. (You gave some good examples)
2. Don't be afraid to talk about things that affect the relationship. Research indicates that one of the biggest predictors of marital satisfaction is communication. If necessary, set a time and day when you can come back together to resolve things. Not talking about things tends to breed deeper dislike over time, but allow the other person time to deal with their emotions/reactions and collect their thoughts. (Rushing to talk when the other person needs some time speaks of the person's insecurity/anxiety if problems are not resolved immediately.)
3. Jealousy will weaken the foundation of the relationship. Reassure each other what the other person means to you and why they do not have to fear that you will weaken the commitment to the partner.

You have already achieved a great balance between organically growing into each other but still deliberately making time to focus on where you’re at with each other and where/how you want to move forward. You don’t over analyse but you still reflect and share. Insecurity and jealousy have always been the pitfall for me - because of serious trust issues. I'm a 21 y.o. gay man from Indonesia. We have 34 provinces here and 33 out of 34 provinces don't criminalize homosexuality. Even tho it's not criminalized in most of our provinces, it's still really hard to be openly gay. If you are openly gay, you may get "social" punishment from your surroundings.
I've dated two guys before and the first one only lasted for 1 month, the second one only lasted for 4 months. How pitiful I was haha. Kinda hopeless romantic here now. But I love watching you guys. You guys both are really amazing :")

However, the key is communication based on understanding, respect and satisfying individual expectations. Its balance with love holding the equilibrium in the relationship. Now having said that, I love your sharing on each of the videos. In one way you are being courageous because humans like to make judgement on many aspects in others but never use self-reflection to gain their own insights to their weakness, strengths and deficiencies. Great video - loved the bloopers at the end - more please. Relationships are hard and you do have to understand the other person very well. The pet peeves one is something that you try to change in the other person but sometimes you realise that you will just have to accept it.
Thanks for sharing this amazing video guys! Even if you talked about trust I think that also respect is a very important value in a couple life. Respect is the cornerstone of any healthy relationship. But what exactly is respect? Respect means in my opinion that you recognize that your partner is a whole person, and not just a way to get something that you want. It means that you know your partner has different experiences and opinions from you, and that's ok. Furthermore you desire to love his experiences and to share them so that the relationship can grow towards an unexpected happiness.

We’ve been together for 20 years and your 7 months can be just as long if you continue to communicate. Share your likes, dislikes, fear, joy, pain, hurt, love, truth, needs, wants, and accept each other for who you are. After 20 years we have been through many pet peeves but never have we forgotten how much we love each other. We still tease each other about the dishwasher loading which I’m starting to believe is a universal couples issue. 😄.

Thank you both for showing the world just how much a normal married couple you are. Actually much more honest and normal than when I got married in 1973. Back then you were expected to behave a certain way, and there were things just never mentioned, which created unnecessary tensions in relationships. I applaud you both for not being afraid to show your love.

when you Adam have a shower , why cant Bernardo just walk in and hang his towel ? My husband always puts the towels back the way he wants to, I like them folded and put on the heated towel ladder neatly . It infuriates me when he repeats it .
The door is unlocked. That excuse of me being in the shower is lame. (Yawn). I'd prefer it if he walked in on me every now and then but no, the towel stays on the bed :)

My two cents. #1. solution, communication. Always talk about your feelings, wanna get mad, do it, but remember to discuss the problem AND the solution. The pet peeves can be solved by assigning the pet peeves as chores, one person manages the laundry, one person manages the kitchen etc. It is obvious you guys love each other, make your relationship the most important thing. You are now each others family, the extended family is no longer the priority. Each other comes first, do not let your families determine your relationship.
