  • Muradian Ensemble - Anoush, Armenian Dances (1998)
Մուրադյան Համույթ - Անուշ, Հայկական պարեր (1998)
Anoush features Muradian Ensemble interpreting a nice selection of Armenian folk dances. Band leader Hratchja Muradian plays kamantcha, while the other group members play kanoun, doudouk, clarinet, zurna, oud, accordion, & dehol. Guest soloist Liudvig Garibian improves the musical quality of the wind instruments. The Muradian Ensemble are a great example of a traditional Armenian group, with an highly arranged & polished style, very compelling.
Muradian Ensemble: Tsogik Sarkisian -- vocals & kanoun (sitar); Vaghenak Tatosian -- vocals; Tikran Boghosian -- clarinet, zurna & doudouk; Kevork Hairapetian -- clarinet, doudouk, & zurna, Kegham Haroutionian -- oud; Samuel Sarkisian -- accordion; Gagik Sarkisian -- dehol; & band leader Hratchja Muradian -- kamantcha with special soloist Liudvig Garibian on doudouk & various woodwind instruments.

Hello Muradian Ensemble friends. I wrote to you previously (see below), but still hope to hear back from you. I live in New England, and sing in a local international folk dance band (Panharmonium); I'm trying to learn this wonderful song of yours, GORANI!
I don't read/understand Armenian. I only have a semi-legible hand-written transliteration of the lyrics; I wonder if anyone could provide me with more readable (typed) ones. Having fine points on pronunciation, and a translation as well would help tremendously. I'd like to do it justice if I perform it.
    Thank you so much!
    Dinah

Hello Dinah, I've researching and didn't find great resources. If you found something that would share I'll apreciate it. Here the is a magnificent choir performance of another version I think. ruclips.net/video/APAfYko2wAk/видео.html

Hi Berna! I'm glad you liked this song.
It is performed by "Muradian Ensemble" - one of the best Armenian folk music groups. This song combines many classical musical techniques of Armenian culture.
It sings about the loss of the city of Mush (Մուշ - from Armenian: մշուշ - fog. Now the city of Muş is in Turkey). This region was one of the main centers of Armenian culture in the Ancient and Middle Ages and up to the 20th century.
