Patrick really sums it up at the end. “because you let me”. They go to their death like sheep, offering no resistance, knowing their daughter is in danger and has been mutilated in front of their eyes. There is no survival instinct strong enough kicking in to fight like hell for their child, it’s two against two! They are not that physically superior to them. Their submission is pure terror and impairing low self worth. They give up.
I just realised that when Patrick throws the coffee cup against the wall later in the film, it is one of the mermaid coffee cups from the start brought from Denmark. Symbolic
8:40 Also note one more thing about Patrick's "fish is not good for the enviorment" comment, it's a total 180 from the first resturant scene in the beginning of the movie where he compliments her for being vegan
I don’t think it’s a 180 at all.. at the beginning he compliments her for being vegan.. sure she says she eats fish but says vegan. At the restaurant/roadhouse she says “it’s good the environment” after saying that she eats fish..he gets back to that point and says “fishing isn’t exactly good for the environment either” to provoke her.. testing her here again.. if she stands up for herself or just leaves it there just accepting defeat.. he’s been testing them everywhere
I truly appreciate your intelligent and insightful outlook on this movie, I feel like you truly saw it and understood it. I watched it lastnight and it really stuck with me. I was disappointed that a lot of the response to it was people calling Bjorn a 'pussy' and then being mad at the ending. As a sensitive person who has struggled with setting boundaries all my life I feel this movie was really made to reassure me to not feel guilty when I follow my feelings and say no. I also really appreciated your outlook on Bjorn and Louise's relationship. They had issues between themselves before they were sadly sought out. It really stood out to me that they didn't share the horrid things they saw in the house. If I was in that situation, my partner would be the first to know and he would tell me. I think honesty strengthens a bond in a relationship and although they loved their child, they had distance within their own self actualisation and their partnership. I could talk about the movie forever. 😂 Fantastic work! ❤🎉
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment! This film resonated with me because I also struggle with boundaries. Working on this analysis helped me become more aware of my problem. Now, whenever I have to set up boundaries (which still feels like work and it's painful, even when it comes to the smallest things), I think back on this film and say to myself "you don't wanna end up like Luisa and Bjorn, do you?":) It's silly but helpful :)
A small thing most people miss in the film is that Abel doesn't speak English, Danish, Dutch or even Italian. That is on purpose so the current child have no real way of communicating with anyone. Agnes never speak English in the movie and in the end she is much like Abel unable to communicate with anyone.
My interpretation of events, just loosely; this couple have been doing this to other families for, what? Over 20 years? Based on the number of photos on the walls in the weird attic room. So maybe they actually have a formulaic routine that they follow? (Makes sense?). E.g., Patrick deliberately goes into the shower room to make the woman so uncomfortable that she initiates intimacy with her husband, and the child on the not-comfortable floor-bed then calls out and has to be taken into Patrick & Karin's room. That is a test as to whether they leave or not. I even think that Patrick deliberately hides the stuffed toy under the car seat in the other family's car so they have to possibly go back. It is all a series of tests to them. Urinating outside with the keys still in the ignition. Leaving the door open to the weird cabin with the photo attic. I dunno - what do you think??
I think they find families that already have some problems in their marriage, they somehow sense their weakness and then they test their boundaries over and over. Maybe they get their perverted pleasure from watching their victims miss their opportunities to escape and defend themselves. Btw, here's part 1 of my analysis, in case you missed it ruclips.net/video/_ZOC6gxSzQQ/видео.html
It looks like they’re just stealing the assets and properties of their victims, as in the final scene they’re on their way to another couples location they’ve manipulated with Agnes, as opposed to Bjorne and his family going to their location. I would guess it goes back and forth in a very twisted game. Also what interested me was that road house restaurant was completely empty like a contrived setting for them to continue the act. Perhaps more people are involved in the scheme like the babysitter and the waiter
@@filmsandmovieschannel The Stranger's, it's a true story, I'd love to hear your take on it, also the 2024 remake of Speak No Evil, it was soooo good! 💯🙏🏾😊
What bugged me the most is that they called Patrick & Karin when they had the car accident at the end 🫠 instead of calling the police or something like that. (If I remember it correctly... I think in the car Louise said something like "thanks for coming to get us" towards Karin)

before Bjorn finds Abel died in the pool, he discovered a room outside the house that full of briefcase-camera etc. is that belongs to the victims ?
