I bought a Graveyard

- This is the first installment of the Graveyard House make over! This house was first build in 1793 (so I am told) as you can see it was gutted for renovation by the previous owner. This creates a blank slate for me and Howard (my Biz Partner) to make it any way I chose! In this series I will be tackling all the challenges it takes to rebuild this old house! Thank You and enjoy the ride!!!
love and respect!

Jimmy I don’t think they moved the house, they just dug the basement later on when they added water and sewer and heat they needed space underneath the house to work. They stayed away from the outside of the foundation so they didn’t under mine the original foundation. Being a stone mason and restoring a bunch of old structures I have seen hundreds of houses done that way .
Thanks for sharing
Holy shit the property looked so much nicer with all the trees. Whoever removed those is a psychopath
Absolutely criminal
exactly my first thought
Yup. It’s all I could think about.
UGH
It did look better but all the trees looked dead. While the trees in the distance were still green. Maybe they were diseased.
I feel like I've been trolled. No way is this going to be a new SERIES! Can't wait! ❤
If you listen to his podcast he has been talking about it for months
@@rockstarfan886 apparently I dont.
The little hut off to the side would make a great honey house for an apiary. You could start keeping honey bees on that side of the property. What a beautiful renovation this is going to be I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
This is going to be an amazing series. Seems like the NY version of Laura Kampf’s, Liselotte.
Can’t wait to come along for the journey.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. I often say that a renovation is far more challenging than a new construction because as an owner you are divided between te desire to keep what is old and the obligation to keep your building standing. Laura knows something about it from what I’ve seen. I hope that Jimmy will find a nice name for this property and that he will not have any bad surprises (in French we say "falling on a bone" which seems perfectly appropriate in this case).
@@th.l.7768 "Falling on a bone." I have got to remember that line!
Where in NY is this?
@@samanthab1923 Green County. I think its somewhere along State Rt 145.
@@tree_carcass_mangler Thank you 👋 beautiful country
Absolutely love old historic places! Graveyards, to me, are the local histories! You can learn a lot of an area from tomb stones. I’m jealous! Thank you for the tour!
Congrats! I'm sold, can't wait to watch more. That barn would definitely be an awesome maker space.
Such a cool property!!
You're definetly the right man for the job! The basement barn shop certainly has pottery shop vibes.
I can't wait to see the progress on this house and property!
This would be an awesome RUclips series. We would get to see more of your skills and craftmanship, and see the restoration of the place. I hope you do decide to do that.
Ca va nous promettre une série de belles vidéos !! Merci Jimmy !!
Looks like a lifetime of projects and content.
It's like the house has defeated every DIY guy in the area and is now taking on the final boss.
I loved how your partner took the shotgun parts with a grin! So funny! The property is beautiful and the graveyard is definitely a bonus. I throughly enjoyed your introduction and presentation. Thank you!
The old country music worked well with this presentation !!! Almost a nightmare remodel !!!
Looks like a massive undertaking, or is it a grave error ;)
Ohhhhhhh my!
😂😂😂
I see what you did there...LOL😁😁🙃😉
Looking forward to it. Somehow have been missing your updates but glad to see you back in my feed..
I grew up a half mile from this place on Susquehanna turnpike just across from Mansard Ave where Teator Rd leads to. As kids we use to ride bikes over by there to go swimming at Browns hole. Myself and all of my friends were always so interested in the graveyard but we never went into it. I remember last year watching the previous owner clearing trees and burning brush almost every day on my way to a few jobs I had in Preston Hollow.
Its really too bad that the previous owner cut down all those old trees. Some of them were probably as old as the original house. It's also worth noting that the trees surroundiung a house on a farm style propoerty are there for wind breaks to diminish the effect of high winds during heavy storms and winter months. Now that property is effectively unprotected. @Jimmy, I hope you have an opportunity to plant some new established trees around this house.
Planting new trees would be step one imo. The wide open space is very erie
Agreed, and the sooner, the better. Trees grow slowly, so give them as much time as you can. This home renovation will drag on for years and years--don't wait until the end to plant the trees.
I would assume that a previous owner sold the trees for lumber…
15:00 That part is open as that is where they would load the hay from outside into the barn loft. At one point it had a door of some kind.
Jimmy, that lower section of the barn would be perfect for a small microbrewery!
Man there is a ton of content on that property! Can't wait!
Your idea to renovate will be Amazing, can't wait you to start working on it. wish you good luck.
That house is gonna be strong and comfortable when Jimmmy gets done upgrading it. Jimmy I hope you get good luck for freeing the bird. I know that bird will never forget about you.😊
Damn Jimmy! You got yourself a real project. Can't wait to see your vision come to life!
That view on a patio in the shade... I'd never leave
Spray all those tombstones with D2. It is amazing stuff. Not harmful for the stones and makes them like new! If I owned the property, I would probably clean up the old cemetery first and leave the house go. I love old cemeteries.
New Yorkers always have this vibe that gives me low grade anxiety like they are pissed off but not really and they are actually just having a normal day and that’s just their natural disposition. Love the channel, just found it tonight.
😂😂😂✊🏼✊🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🎄🎄 thank you!
I tuned in for the cemetery.
It was like watching this old house. Waiting for the guys to show up and jump in and help you
Exciting new project! I look forward to more content on this!!!
If you mist the headstones with water, it’s easier to read them. I discovered this up in Middlesex County when I discovered an old graveyard in the woods and was doing some rubbings and it started to drizzle.
DOH - Diresta’s Old House
Can’t wait to see the end result and will watch it the whole way through!
You are so brave!!! Haha! Good luck friend.
Super editing.....and a great tour. Fun video to watch!
This old house by Diresta, I'm so excited for this series!!
Wow what an amazing place can’t wait to see what you do with it looks like it will be amazing when it’s finished.
Thanks Jimmy!! Keep the videos coming
i like this format a lot! Im ready for the in depth videos in building this history!
Big possibilities , lot of work ahead. good luck.
Make no bones about it ,I’m really looking forward to seeing this series 😁
Looking forward to the show on this house 🏡

Ive been watching your posts for a while, this post is sooo good, it will have a million stories, cheers !
So exciting !!!! Thank you!
This is great gonna be fun to see that yoga room is really cool to I see a lot of places like that in Michigan. Can’t wait
Soooo looking forward to seeing the series and how you bring this property back to life. Thank you very much!
Nice camera work Rob! I remember passing that barn gawking at it thinking how cool it looked.
"This old house, with Jimmy Diresta" can't wait!
Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
I cant wait to see this to the end. How cool!
Love it.. love the history and love the vision
here's an idea for you, you could cast from the grave stones in concrete, with some kind of alginate casting, which will not harm the original grave stones, and use them for the patio, one of my brothers is trying to get permission to do exactly the same in london, for a patio on his london home.
something unique.
I hope this series continues. The wife and I are having fun watching it. 👍
Ask Brent Hull about the framing construction, he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of architecture, and construction.
Good luck, I'm looking forward to following the progress of your project 👍
so, that board framing style I think is called barge framing. I've seen some of it in the louisiana area.
I was just thinking that you don't have enough projects. Glad you found one! That foundation is scary. Best to start with new, but I'm confident that will not be the route chosen. Good luck!
My kids (and myself) love the Making Fun show. I got excited to find your YT channel. So, until the powers that be get their act together, we'll be adding this channel to our rotation!
Thank you! thank you! 😊❤️
Nice archaeology cemetery history tombstone preservation episode! Need a cemetery map & list of internments. Gotta find library local history. Genealogists pay good money local cemetery transcrpts. Awesome graveyard. Must have internment inventory. woot! Tombstone preservation a big bug deal to do right but lots opportunities online learning. Cemetery map, list of interments, oldest tombstone earliest internment…. good stuff!
Diresta doing a house reno. Sweeet!
I believe that part of the barn was open for moving hay into the loft with either a conveyor or block and tackle.
Oh..this is gonna be fun!!! Looking forward to seeing this come together!
Betcha this is just as big a project as 'Acorn to Arabella' !
I'm in for this Series , 4 Sure !!!
Looks like a fun project!
Wow, Can't wait for the updates. Also, thank YOU!
I admire your enthusiasm Jimmy. Wish you well and I can't wait for the restoration 🤠💪
I'm jealous. Awesome property Jimmy! I'm fascinated by old graveyards.
So sad the trees were removed, but I love the house and property as well as the plans you have for it. Show that graveyard great respect.
Love your new property!
Really glad to hear you will give the cemetery some love. Can't wait!
This will be an adventure!
I cant wait for this series. I love old houses from that time period. Cant wait to see what Jimmy does with it.
Amazing property indeed, Jimmy! Congrats! 😃
Looking forward to the series!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I'm highly looking forward to watching the progress on this property you guys have purchased to transpose into an awesome project that you consistently change into a beautiful masterpiece with minimal effort 👌
My god there’s a lot going on there! I’d be so overwhelmed!
This is my favourite video from you now! I love this I can’t wait to see the transformation. The history wow man! Great job Jimmy 👍🏻 thank you for sharing.
It's fun to see your excitement! Love having a graveyard!!!
At 7:00 you discuss double doors and a patio. Consider whether snow from main roof will break the double doors. It looks like some of it lands against the ell wall. It can be very violent.
It’s absolutely beautiful! So much potential. I can’t wait to see you take us along for the ride. You are the hardest working maker on RUclips! Thanks for always sharing and for the amazing builds. I have been following from the beginning and I am such a big fan. I always can’t wait for the next video. Thanks also for sharing your talents and knowledge!
Who DOESN’T want a house with a free graveyard? Those old stone grave markers are awesome. Congrats on such a great acquisition!
Love the new license plate JD!
Yup. I have the same type of house. Very little info online about the. I guess they were called a plank house. Cross between timber frame and stick built. Usually built by saw mills
This was an awesome video. Love having you walk us through live. Very excited to see this content!
This is going to be fascinating!
Fantastic tour! Excited to see what you do with this property.
It would be a greatest show on RUclips ever!
Another great video as always. I grew up in Leeds so it's always cool to see the area in your videos. If you ever need any advice on that SL, I worked on Mercedes for 20 years. Oy, the stories I could tell. Thanks again, Jimmy.
Love all your videos Jimmy. Big HELLO from Australia....👋👋👋🔨🪚🪓⛏🛠⚔🔧🪛
Nice property with many remodeling ideas. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Looks like a sandstone foundation. We had a similar one in our 154 year old church. We also had cedar tree posts holding up the basement framing. Stay safe.
What a great property! I may be biased due to my love of cemeteries. Excited to see your improvements.
Looks awesome!
Mr. Jimmy! That is an incredible and cool (and rather strange!) find! Preserving (both) houses-- "new" and "old"-- is a must. As is the preservation of that historic, old cemetery. That entire property is quite rich in history, and it seems you're keen to preserve that. I salute you! I know that YOU are the man to do just that. So excellent. (Oh, and, glad to see you're a fan of Farron Cousins-- I follow him on both "Farron Balanced" and "Ring of Fire" GREAT commentary!) I wish you the best in this endeavor, and I look forward to your series as you rescue this incredible property.
Looking forward to all thats to come, congratulations.
So much potential, it’s just keeps going! Of course it came with a band saw.
This is amazing. Can’t wait to see the journey.
Very comon construction for the period Big Frame with 2 by boards the interior had lath and plaster spanning the gaps between the boards.
Dude! This is so friggin cool. I cannot wait for the content, as only you can do, to start rolling in. Love it! Thanks Jimmy, Love and respect!
A new season of This Old Graveyard.
Looks like a great adventure is in your future. Can’t wait to see where you take it
Really cool place Jimmy!
