MK4 Short Shifter install DIY

All the MK4 people out there know the struggle of having to move your hand a foot everytime you go to shift gears. This i a $70 short shifter which resulted in a 2 inch reduction in travel front to back. The side to side travel remained the same as factory. We will update you if it breaks and we are stuck on the side of the road. Thank you for watching the video, I hope this helps those of you who are trying to install this on your car. how are u going to make a movie called short shifter install and then proeed to speed every part up except when your mumbling about some shit.. could have at least slowed down the actual shiter install.. would have been little bit helpful.. live and learn

Can you add the part where you hooked your cables up because I did everything your doing and the bushings keeps coming off and I’m annoyed with it just about just lit my whole car on fire just replaced a stage 2 clutch and stage 2 upgrade

So if you would of removed that black rubber seal that kept the shifter in when installed. You wouldn't have to lift the car ? Or either way shifter has to come out ?

Okay so I got the same shifter what bushing do you use for the reverse….I have the gear one on but don’t stay in place idk where my bushing went but I didn’t see one on it either

Actually it worked pretty well. Only complaint about it is the reverse lockout is a bit janky. But overall can't beat it for the 40 bucks or so I spent on it. I've since sold the car though

Yeah. I realized after I bought and installed this one that the megan racing one is only 10 dollars more. But I suspect it's the same exact this just colored purple.

Sorry, yes it's a TDI 5 speed. But the process should be the same for any 5 speed Mk4
