      But I'd like to hear it in your own word, in your own voice. When we played there as children,we'd peak over the fence at the mysterious place. I remember climbing up on the bunker ( a left over relic from World War ll) and we would look and wonder what this place actually is.

      Hi Anne,
      For me it was also a sort of spooky place, until i was about 15 years old, and started to work for a farmer in my holidays.
      This farmer also worked on the Joodse begraafplaats, and so i started to work there also.
      It's much less spooky once you get to know this place.
      And it really made me think about the holocaust. Because of all the remembrance plates on the graves which stated something like " in rembrance of my brothers and sisters, father and mother, oncle and aunt which were taken away and never returned.
      The Joodse Begraafplaats is open to the public, And there are guided tours on certain dates.

    Interesting observation: at 43 to45 several of the open spaces between the headstones appear to look like crosses in the grass...
