I so admire the fact that you all are not wasteful.
I am proud of you dear Farmily! This is what means to be a couple, being together working hard, having fun, being parents of your animals, doing great things together and being happy one day at once! You are blessed! May God be with you now and forever!
the rest of the world could learn so much from you two. As a whole the world needs to learn use, reuse, repurpose more things in our lives. Instead we live in a Throwaway world.
No we need to ditch capitalism and start building things that last. Things are deliberately made to not last so corporations can continue to make a profit. The only things that humans make that lasts is pollution.
Your nuts, this is asbestos !
Look good awesome job keep up the good work on your farm God bless you guys
I thought you would keep the wood that you pulled off but you know better than me. You guys are such hard workers.
Whatever wood’s still usable I’m sure David will hoard it☺️
I think the people who were concerned about your health are mostly American and it’s because asbestos was commonly used there for insulation (in the walls) since they build with hollow walls and weatherboard there. I’m guessing prolongued exposure to the asbestos insulation is indeed bad and that explains their concerns. In Europe older homes have solid walls, even the interior ones and so asbestos insulation was not that common.
It looks amazing, hopefully you don’t have to remove much of the wood from the roof structure, old wood is so much better/higher quality than what we find in hardware stores now, warped rubbish pine.
Do you guys have snowstops for roofs? I’m thinking when you have massive snowfall, wouldn’t chunks of snow drop on the future extension roof?
We might install some when we redo the roof on the house. But rarely have had enough to slide down but it does happen. We also want to install gutters on this dormer and the rest of the roof might be good to collect it for the garden which is next to it.
In Eu asbestos is baned i live in sweden we are not allowed to re use aspestos
Excellent work as usual. 👏👏👏🥰🍍
Love your videos and I always look forward to the next one.
Looking very nice.
Well done
David, you don't have a license to wear that mustache)))
😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🧔
😂😂
That tape brings back memories... stuff sticks to everything
Great progress in today's video! I haven't missed a single episode. I am concerned about water intrusion where the shed dormer roof meets the original roof. Specifically, when the snow melts in spring and forms little ice dams causing water to back up. Will you be installing a flashing tucked underneath the old slope but coming out a ways on the shed roof? I love that you're reusing the perfectly good tiles. Like you said, consistent and repeat exposure is the biggest risk. Those factory workers who risked their health and built the tiles would be glad to know you're using the tiles wisely.
Congrats. Roof looks realy good. Good job.👍
You really have done an amazing job David… the roof is looking amazing…
Good job the tiles are very good to use, but you should have used sheets of wood then the tarps then the tile for a good strong roof. The tarps will get wet and rout and will not last maybe 3 years. Even the people before you used slate of wood then the tiles. The tarp is added protection for the inside of the building. Good luck !!
Pretty sure that isn’t tarp, it’s a moisture barrier if I’m not wrong.
Awesome job
A sensible attitude towards asbestos.
Great job!! 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
well done you did a fantasic job. I hope its not asbestos plate you have there ❤
looking good
Jauks jumts iznācis izbūvei.😊
the Dahmer looks quite nice 👍👍
תודה ❤❤❤
davied, i trust you. if there is anyone in the world i trust it is you. best wishes
Because you are perfect and they are not. Absolutely the best answer you could have given to your beloved. That made my day. Good on you young lady, and you too sir, fantastic things you do.
Hello everyone who is watching interesting things on this channel... Wishing everyone peace..
Do the roof tiles have asbestos in them? I wondered why you are worried about your lungs and the dust.
David and Dissey that was turffic great job it is going to be great and look good to
A small amount of dust from Asbestos Tiles is extremely dangerous and can lead to mesothelioma.
😊
I'm afraid that the sloop of the dormer roof isn't enough....its 2 flat.....
It's the same angle as the other extension we did. It might be hard to tell on camera but it should be more than enough. Already in the rain it's been working perfectly with no leaks anywhere!
@@DoBeDiff good 👍 😌
Don't forget your flashing.
Too bad that you have to spend so much time educating all of these "know-it-alls".
Love that all you do when you can is repurposed. Saves money.❤
The dormer is looking fantastic! I can't believe how talented you both are. Looking forward to the finished product. Love and respect from Michigan, USA. 😊
Not a criticism, just a concern for I have seen this...During a rain storm with heavy winds blowing against that side of a building where a shallow roof meets a steep one..The wind will force the rain up the channels on the shallow roof and underneath into the dry space..Normally several inches of overlap is desired or some sort of sealer... Much admiration for the both of you guys....If I were younger, I would be repairing my barn roof....:-) sort of a B and B for pigeons currently...and they make a mess!! :-)
Great video and great photography ❤
Good job, you two. No wonder you both stay so slim. Good workout. 😊
i think using the old tiles also keeps the character of the barn, which is actually a really beautiful old building. It's sooo satisfying to watch you both sculpting a new more useful shape into it. amazing work xx
Whoever picks out the music for when you are working.....you are really, really talented. It is like an expensive movie track and better than any documentary I have ever seen. God bless your talents! :)
@phantagirlable Thanks for your comments! :) I remember geese raiding!
Great build !!!!
Here in the states we have to hire a team to remove any asbestos products .They wear suits and breathing apparatus and everything has to be.placed in special plastic bags and disposed of .I know it sounds like to much but asbestos is dangerous in any quantity,.small or large
It's dangerous only in loose form not when it's in solid tile. Insulation is definitely the worst asbestos product!
You should get a diploma for recycling 👍♥️
looking good,
Great job guys
Hiiiiii 💖💖💖
Once again good job
Don't quite agree with you, all it takes is "once" with asbestos.... not daily exposures over a long period of time.... please be careful
I loved the idea of the extension. And I admire you both of your determination and stamina. I am sure it will be awesome.
But.. It looks like you missed a step. Shouldn't you put a layer of osb or planks before the layer of plastic? You could resemble the rest of the roof this way but basically reinforce it more and also make an extra protection. You plan to have guests there. You have heavy snowfalls and rain. This roof will have just the tiles and the plastic to protect them? Plus it won't have resistance to the snow weight because of the gaps.
I hope you research it a bit more
Another wonderful work day! This is so great, I am excited for this project. Your talent and skills are outstanding.🎉🎉❤
I think you are saying your roof tiles are asbestos. Asbestos tiles if in good condition don’t necessarily pose a risk but exposure to rain and other weather conditions can cause them to go friable and allow particles to become airborne and it’s these that can lodge in your lungs and cause mesothelioma. Drilling in to the tiles can also cause particles to become airborne. It does take a long time before symptoms appear but a nasty way to die. That’s why they stopped making them as they realised the long term risks. If your tiles were in place many years ago I’m guessing that soon they’ll be getting to the point that sections of them will become friable and you won’t see the particles to avoid them. They can’t be removed once in your lungs so a rather large risk. My advice is to decide what you want to use on your entire roof and buy enough to do small sections at a time, or if you have the budget, to get rid of the lot and wrap it up in plastic and seal with tape and then find someone who will bury it for you legally. You can always add more as you do other sections of the roof. It’s just not worth the risk in my humble opinion. I’m sure if you put together a fund raiser for the cost of the roof your viewers will be happy to contribute as little or as big amounts as they can. Best of luck.
Just wondering when you’re going to fix the floor in the barn. It looks pretty unstable to be walking on it. Devid sure is a great carpenter. Love 💕 you guys.
I see you got alot of dandelions they make good tea an jelly plus leaves are good in salads. Plus makes good salves and medicine for sores an cuts. Oh and lotions and deep fried flowers to eat. Lots of recipes on Pinterest also..love the work you both do looking good can't wait to see how it turns out..😊😊
Vakar tā krita acis ciet. Gaidīju un nesagaidīju.. 😄 Lielā tējas krūze gatava un manā mīļākajā kanāla jauns video 😊 Lai darbiņi veicas un lieliska diena!
Finally getting to the guest room! I've been waiting!
📯🕘⏳⌛; any more like you 2 ? I want some; 🐢 🤗
Flashing?
Μπράβο παιδιά ❤❤❤
👍
🌟👍👏🍀💐
Lots of hard work there. Something I would really like to see tho would be to double up on the studs. As flat as that roof is you may have quite a bit of snow build up there if you are a Nordic country.
Wow !! The dormer looks fantastic !!! You are so talented ❤ !!
Nice job! Moving forward and progress being made. Blessings.
You both are smart! Using what you have is Brilliant! Exciting to watch and see how it turns out!
Brilliant well done
Dont forget about sawdust exposure. It can cause a specific type of nasal cancer.
It depends what you cut too (info from husband who worked with that), it appears the composites are dangerous, like laminate, mdf, whatever has bonding agents in it. Just sawdust from wood is less damaging and he’s cutting outdoors most of the time.
@@minime7375 You are correct. My husband needed 8 hour surgery with a neurosurgeon, two head and neck surgeons and an eye surgeon attending. He has said that he suspects composite products to probably be the main culprits.
Quel dommage de réutiliser ces plaques sûrement pleines d’amiante. Vous les démontez pour les reposer, vous devriez les changer, ne serait ce que pour votre santé. Elles sont en fin de vie, la mousse y adhère
Hope the new roof is slanted enough so the snow slides off and same with the rain.
Looking good. But , do you ever miss living in the van carefree without the chores and responsibilities?
What! Live in cramped conditions? They have land space & fresh air. If you love something enough it is not a chore. It is good to have responsibility, you learn & grow.
