  • DPhil students Oraya Srimokla and Rachel Otuko tell us about their research estimating the global burden of antimicrobial resistance.
Rachel and Oraya, GRAM DPhil students, research antimicrobial resistance (AMR), focusing on E. coli (Rachel) and Acinetobacter baumannii (Oraya). They estimate AMR prevalence, burden, and spatio-temporal dynamics by age, sex, and geography, addressing modelling biases. Their work combines community and hospital data, using iterative model development and validation to understand AMR drivers.
This presentation was recorded in October 2024, for NDM-Centre for Global Health Research Day.
