FYI ... this could take anywhere from 3 hours to 7 hours . I recommend do this before bed . Just set it up and when you see 1% that’s going to take long while . Make sure your laptop is plugged in the entire time .Go to bed wake up and continue with settings . Be patient but trust me this works !! I just did it !

I’m having a bit of trouble, is anyone able to help? My acer aspire won’t go through with this technique. I’ve tried doing this 7 times now and it makes an awful, loud, and long beep every time I’ve tried. It just keeps loading to the usual starting screen and screaming at me when I hold the keys and continues when I take my fingers off the keys. It only stops the beep after about 10 seconds of the shrill noise and I’m unsure how to proceed. None of the new screens come up like the ones in the video...
Is there a way to do this automatically? I run Ubuntu and it won't boot unless I do this. (Press Alt + f10) after I do alt + f10 it just boots correctly into Ubuntu.

I just received my Acer Inspire 5 today from Amazon. It appears Amazon did not even turn this on to make sure it works. The previous owner password protected it. I need to do a factory reset but the 3 finger salute or the alt-f10 and power button combos don't respond. I think it's running right now but the screen is blank And I can hear the exhaust fan.

I have a A7 You type in the search box Reset this computer And go from there your windows are on the hard drive so use the bottom options not the top ones if you want new windows or if you wish to reinstall new windows from a USB input. The top options are for repairs only this is windows 10 anyway

When I came back, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Windows login screen. After signing in, the desktop came up and all of my apps and files were still there! This is not working for my Acer Aspire One. I get a screen that asks me which Win XP I want to use. I can press F2 to go to Setup or F12 to change boot order. Also F8 to go to windows advanced options menu. F2 Setup has tabs for Information (no actions), Main (can enable Quick Boot, Network Boot, f12 Boot Menu and D2D Recovery), Security (setting passwords for supervisor, user, HDD), Boot (IDE1, IDEO WDC WD1600BEVT-22CT0, USB FDD, USB HDD, NETWORK BOOT: LEGACY PCI DEVICE OR USB CDROM.) and EXIT: savings changes, discarding changes, load setup defaults, discard changes, save changes I have tried manually shutting down and restarting multiple times and I do not get the troubleshooting screen. Pressing shift and restarting nothing. Any clues?

I figured it out. On my laptop it shows up a different way. When you are at the password page on the bottom right hand side there is a power button when you put the mouse over it, it will say Restart shut down Before you hit restart button press the shift key button on the “right side” of the key board (the one under the enter key) and hold hit then click the restart on the screen while still holding the shift button. Keep holding the shift button until the screen turns back on. When it turns on the trouble shoot screen should come up. Then follow the rest of the videos instructions Hope this helps you out.
Mine doesnt boot to this screen. It goes to a different blue screen. The "YOUR PC RAN INTO A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO RESTART" then it just goes back to being in a boot loop. Any ideas? Stop code MACHINE_CHECK_EXEMPTION
