A very well composed collaboration. Spencer knocked it out of the park. I really hope this brings Sikth more exposure. They greatly deserve every bit of it. One of the most creative bands to have surfaced in the last 20 years.
Chris Gibson SikTh wouldn't be SikTh without Mikee though. The interplay between him and Justin was amazing on the first two albums, and he writes all of their (usually awesome) lyrics. I couldn't imagine Hold My Finger, Such The Fool, Flogging The Horses or Part Of The Friction sounding even slightly right with someone else.
First time hearing this band, and my fave part is the first singers vocal work. It's interesting, unique and ballsy in a way that most modern stuff I've heard can't touch. And I gotta hand it to all the vocalists, not one of them had to be the cookie monster, and that's always a good thing. Hopefully that's a thread this band always keeps intact.
This song, the lyrics, the video, usage of three vocalists... Everything in Cracks of Light is so extremely superior that it deserves at least several million views. Why has this phenomenal song and band such little exposure, compared to the extreme efforts they put into their outstanding music?
I absolutely love them, I think this is their worst album (by a marginal amount) and it's still better than the best albums of a lot of other bands. If anyone cares, I would rate the albums: Trees are Dead and Dried Out > Death of a Dead Day (barely) > Opacities > The Future in Whose Eyes
Awesome, man! SikTh's been a top5er of mine for a loooong time. It's one of the few bands I say will never release a sellout record, because they are too distinct, too "themselves"... they're like Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Animals As Leaders in that regard.
I just happened across this when Spencer was referenced in a Devin Townsend video. There is a lot about this song that reminds of of the old Bay Area thrash band Forbidden. The chords, progressions, riffs, and even vocals really reminded me of them, probably from Distortion and Green albums. Just a thought. Interesting stuff for sure.
@@ShapeshiftedCow Hey, there. I tried to search and couldn't find anything that rung a bell. Thought maybe an interview or reaction video but I have no idea. Watched too many Devin videos. Sorry!
YOU - Good, I want to die. ANCIENT REPTILIAN BRAIN - Of course. I know you do. Everybody leaves, when they get the chance. Go on, keep falling. Deeper...take the door.
This is truly amazing, they should have more guests. For me, there is a distinct void of Justin's presence but this is genius all the same. I love SikTh!
I miss Justin,He was the calm before the storm. However the whole band have a really distinct sound, I remember in 2001 one of the lads from RX gave me a siKth CD and I was like WTF is this I had it cranked to 11 all day for around 4 years.I also picked my guitar up and tried to copy the sounds I heard and had now Idea at the time how they were making these noises...
My story of discovering the band was similar, it was also 2001 and a guy I was jamming with gave me a compilation with 3 tracks from 'the trees are dead...' and I was also WTF? but also awe-inspired by the odd notes and rhythms. They very quickly became my favourite band but in all honesty they kinda made me put my guitar down for a few years because I felt utterly shite in comparison! Suddenly the music I was writing didn't stand up and I felt i'd never get that good!
I can't believe I'm able to play their material now and quickly work out their parts by ear and even improvise original songs in their style....it only took me 15 years!!
This would be a whole lot more dynamic and funky. Not saying it's bad at all, just not very dynamic, there's no funk at all, and anything by Primus has both.
Man, I have to agree with you, but also to a different extent. When I met with Pin Dan and Joe on their first US tour and had a good long chat, Joe is definitely fantastic as a performer and a cool dude(even though they bust his balls for being such a young pup and also northern irish haha) but I think his being so young and coming into the band after they all have known each other for so long shows a sort of balance shift in the vocalist "priority" so to speak. What I mean is I think Justin almost definitely had a creative drive and vision (and familiarity?) formidable enough on songs and parts to counter and counterbalance Mikee's obviously intense artistic vision, creating a great duality in their work. I really hope Joe finds his footing to get his songs / moments to shine as well going forward, creating that great almost-idiosyncratic feel of their early stuff.
@@mike7958 That is true, but there is a weird nebulous area between lyricist and vocal performer, when they're mutually exclusive, because credits for lyrics don't always mean they were responsible for the melodies and embellishments that come of them. but thinking on it a bit more after posting, it may just be a conscious choice by the band to not have the 'new guy' carrying the majority of any given song. could be because of fear of fan backlash, , his own disinterest in doing so, or any number of valid reasons. The point I was trying to get at was that sense of a tonal shift on a smattering of songs in an album is missing in newer works, and my first theory was it may be the vocalist change.
are sikth and enter shikari from the same area? they have the same sounding yells and wasnt sure if its regional from when they were small bands or if that accent.
Mikee is a phenomenal vocalist with a crazy range, but Spencer really fit this song. It was a correct move to have him here. Fucking amazing.
And same can be said with mikee on reptile's spoken section, periphery and sikth should just make an album together
@@BierMeister360 a full album collab from them would honestly be a dream!!
he's fucking amazing in Disco Elysium too. Legend
I'm looking forward to the Sikth song with 4 vocalists in it
Lol, love it.
How about five or Sikth vocalists?
Devin Townsend?
@@A_Salty_Fishe that would be totally Sikth
Just get Dan to sing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is the greatest band I've heard in a long time hands down
The most underrated too...😭
Welcome to the club!
First sikth song i have ever heard. Really amazing band.
skycaptain141 if you like this you're in for a right treat!! 3 albums and a number of EPs
skycaptain141 Check out their 2nd Album Death of a dead Day, one of my Favourite albums I've ever heard xD xD
You are such a fool
A BEAUTIFUL LADY

Sean Stewart I'm told that SikTh was one of Periphery's influences, it'd be neat to for that to pay off in this way
I honestly think it's that guy with dreads putting people off. He's a horrible singer man.
Just beccause you don't like his style doesn't make him a horrible singer, the man actually has very good talent both in the studio and live
Chris Gibson SikTh wouldn't be SikTh without Mikee though. The interplay between him and Justin was amazing on the first two albums, and he writes all of their (usually awesome) lyrics. That's just, like, your opinion man...
SikTh before and after, since 20 years now. You saw it with Opacities, fans are still here for one reason : you are SikTh
3:30 might be my favourite part in any SikTh tune, ever. Perfect use of blasting, and then the riffs following are manic. So fucking dope!

The force is strong with the Sikth
This song, the lyrics, the video, usage of three vocalists... Everything in Cracks of Light is so extremely superior that it deserves at least several million views. Why has this phenomenal song and band such little exposure, compared to the extreme efforts they put into their outstanding music?
Most people don't want good music, they want something predictable and simple.
1:48 can't stop imagining the moustacho man talking about Miranda - the very nice girl
good stuff lads, been a fan since the trees are dead. good to see youve returned on form
Funny how the response seems to be divided. Everyone's a critic 🙄 I'll just simply say I'm happy to hear some new Sikth.
best thing possible, I'm so glad you guys are producing again!
This music? Good.
This video? Good.
Hotel? Trivago.
U FUKIN WOT M8 😂😂😂
I knew i wasnt the only one
The comedy potential here is astounding
that ending after the blastbeats part is probably the highlight of the album for me, just perfection until the end.
IT'S SO HARD TO CLIMB THOSE SLIPPERY WALLS!
Wow the variety of vocals
Great track! SikTh never fail to deliver some classy riffage
Spencer has some high quality...teeth...
Pffftt hell yeah
Nice, Spencer Sotelo's guest vocals sound great!
Underrated band. Brilliant album.

Amazing sikTh, damn I'm tarnished after that!
Love it! Same girl from the Philistine Philosophies video too?

Love Spencer's Incubus vibes in the chorus.
How good are Spencer's teeth? Damn.
It's called lighting effects via saturation you dumb fuck.
Oh wow, I was wondering how they got his teeth so straight and symmetrical. Cheers for the inside tip!
The Irish Front someone has started their period huh
its good his teeth are not irregular like periphery's grooves... fibonnaci teeth would suck :_)
look like average teeth to me...
dayum that Spencer gorgeous af #nohomo
Oh boy, I havn't listened to it yet and I'm already pumped :D
When the breakdown started at 3:52 I literally jumped up a bit out of my chair and said "THAT IS ILLEGAL"
Love this track.
Spencer is great
YOU - Good, I want to die.
ANCIENT REPTILIAN BRAIN - Of course. I know you do.

Damn this is catchy!!!
Great work, just amazing. Thanks for that!

Prog as hellllllll!
Best song on the album

Intro riff is so damn good
Awesome!
Are you going to ever bring out new album I have listened to you for like 20yr and still love
Fucking love the drumming in this!
How doesn't this have over 1m views?
!!!!! Nice. !!!!!!
What the heck, this is insanely good
Favorite song from the new album. So good.
i actually really enjoy the vocals they have on this new album
3:30 blast beat = I'm on top of a mountain.
Awesome
Not my favorite on the album, but always glad to hear these guys. It was only a matter of time before these two bands collided.
well, DAMN!
very dope
Only found out yesterday that Sikth reformed. What am I like ? Oh well, better late than never. This is immense.
Holy shit, Spencer?
If Primus was a djent band
Or Mudvayne!

Not saying it's bad at all, just not very dynamic, there's no funk at all, and anything by Primus has both.
PrimuTh. Mike Tyson approves of this.
ecaepevolhturt a little late but I dig this comparison
Best The best
fucking great song! that scream from the mikee is so sick
epic as always

Que buena banda vieja
such a great band plus Spencer 😃
I would have rather that they make one for Century of the Narcissist, but this works too..
Joe's scream at 3:31 makes me want to smash the world in half with my forehead
See you soon in Pulp Summer Slam 2019 :)
A song as perfect as Spencer's teeth
At 1:37 he sounds like Arthur Shelby from Peaky Blinders

So much fuckin' prog
my favourite song \m/
MUITO FODA!!!!!!!!
god this is good
Was here after Kmac's video mentioning this band.
აააააააააააააააა
Boo-iful layday comes into moy sight
I hear a little bit of bleed by messugah in there
I wonder if Spencer has a bunch of the same hat, or if that's actually just part of his head.
This is the best comment I’ve ever read on RUclips
Shit the bed, this is good!
Fucking sick
You mean *SikTh
Is that the same lady that appears in the Philistine Philosophies video?
Nice metal
Nice Teef!
Fuck yes
Is one of the vocalists the same guy from enter shikari?
The_OG_Smith
Nope. None of them. But Enter Shikari and and Sikth guitarist Dan Weller are friends.
Do sikhs listen to skith and do they think sikth is sick.
These guys are pretty decent. They blow all the current generic crap out of the water. Reminds me of the first time I heard Chop Suey
Fantastic song, though it could've used one more reprise of the chorus at the very end. Can never have too much Spencer.
DUH Djent :)
