- Hey guys, in this video I'll be redesigning some logos from the beauty and cosmetics industry. I'll be rebranding MAC cosmetics and Dove and showing you how I design the logos and branding.

For Mac logos - to figure out which one looks great, just scale down. The readability and legibility will guide you.

What's the Difference between Readability & Legibility Bro I Thought its Same !?
@@kbpanchal22 nope they are different. Legibility is the ability to distinguish one form from another, the form can be letter, shape etc. Readability is how well the text is readable overall. The ability of the reader to decipher the typography (including phrases, word, sets of letters) and how easy, difficult, fast or slow the process is based on the designer's choices.

I love watching your process and how you talk through all your decisions! I definitely prefer the Mac rebrand overall - and I love the typeface you ended up choosing most! It feels like a fitting choice for them and doesn’t feel that far away from their brand now 🙌 It’s so interesting how designers can have such different visions because I totally would have explored the second from last typeface when you had them all on the artboard!!

great vid. I prefer the dove design, I think the colours work really well and they would definitely make the product stand out more on the shelves and make it more appealing to customers.

Would love to see you do some icon work too, as you mostly use the first letter as the icon. Very helpful videos non the less.

I'm so grateful for these videos, i learned sooooo much, and the main thought is to be brave and show the world your abilities! However, i want to give a little feedback about mac logo - it looks like zara logo when kerning is so tight, especially in monochrome palette, and M with A a bit messy at the bottom. As for dove a rounded gap in D leg is also not matching with clear sharp square corners of rest of letters. But your feeling of colour is amazing - it elevates any design next level and I sincerely hope that one day it will be your design on Dove packaging!

Great video abi loved very insight full learnt a few tips and tricks so thank you. I like dove logo a lot and the Mac one I agree with the one u picked as the other looked like two A so it was harder to read Mac. The final looked fab.

I read better the bottom for MAC. Oh, you have chosen the upper one. I think it's too busy. Too many lines that make it illegible. Maybe I d have kept it but I d have added some kerning between M and A. I don't know, it just crosses my eyes, I guess they are overlapping too much. What do you think? Maybe it's just me...

i like them both but i think my favorite was the Dove. that one was a little more in need of updating i think. the mac one was very cool as well, i love their studio fix foundation powder, i used to use it all the time. i stopped because they don't quite carry the right shade for me. the quality is great though and i do still have some eye shadow.

Honestly, I love the rebrand of Dove. So nice all the colors and it feels so soft and young, fresh. Really well done! My only concern and a question I wanted to ask you is: If we have to rebrand something, should it be recognizable for the target? Or can we change as much as we want? Because I really love the rebrand for Dove but as a consumer I think I would have a hard time finding it in the supermarket among all the products while trying to scan the product according to its old design and colors. If it's not advertised, me not watching TV, I would struggle until I find out they have rebranded it. What do you think?
Thank you! In regards to your question I think it depends! It depends on what the client wants, but what you mentioned is a really good point and something to consider!

You know when you’re creating the packaging for the dove soap and adding the quotes, what’s that box of letter on the right?
It seems that "dove" has become more medical cosmetics, and "mac" has become more retro style. Pretty. :)
