I'm south african. I did a TEFL Diploma course for R3000 and finished in January this year. I did Teaching kids English. One to one online and business English. I did it with I to i Tefl. they are really reliable 🤝 Just ps. the course is really easy. I started it when I was 16 and finished it when I was 17. I'm 17 rn and on my way to getting my degree 😊

I first came here as a hagwon teacher back in 2013. Apart from visa fees, it didn't cost too much! Now that I'm not a teacher now though, things cost a lot more.. Haha

EPIK wanted all their applicants to be quarantined in the same place; even though quarantine is free for South Africans at a government facility (I don’t know if this is still the same or not; check the Korean Embassy of South Africa website to verify) .
Nice video. About the Visa, did you get confirmation from Korea before applying for Visa because in some cases for example like applying for a study visa you need an acceptance letter from University and a SAQA letter. I’m only asking because I’m from Zimbabwe and I’m in the process of doing all this but the visa part is what’s worrying me
With the EPIK program; your contract will be sent to you. And that’s what you use to apply for visa. You send the SAQA letter with the other documents to Korea after passing your interview, and then your schools sends you a contract.

What was the budget you had in mind when you started this journey compared to the actual amount in the end? It seems like quite a few people get a few surprises when they eventually arrive abroad and I was just wondering if everyone just had an abundance of extra thousands of Rands on them (if this is the case, then that means the end amount is then even greater).
Hey Leo. I did know about the quarantine and EPIK told us how much we would have to pay. My budget was 45K, but things have changed. I don’t think quarantine is mandatory anymore. It’s always good to have extra rands just for in case

Yes! I couldn’t have done it if my parents didn’t fund the whole thing! Sadly it’s a privilege that many don’t have. Coming here is expensive, even if you take out the quarantine (which isn’t mandatory anymore) so it’s a blessing to find people who can help you fund the move.
Hi Letty, I'm thinking of doing my tefl course, I've heard of some companies that will pay for your plane tickets and help with accommodation. Is this true? I also had no idea this was so expensive 🤯
Yes, you will get reimbursed, definitely if you apply for a public school. You will most likely get the reimbursement with your first salary so you will still need to pay for your own flight first. And Accomodation is provided. I’m not sure if this is the case for private academies/schools
It’s very easy! You just have to open a remittance account with your bank and you use the banking app to transfer the money. If you send it during the week and during working hours then your money should reflect within 24 hours
Hi I know from one of your videos you mentioned you had to redo your PCC because of covid may I please ask if you did your SAQA degree and apostille again as well. I had to do my PCC again as well but not my degree I'm worried it's going to be an issue as my degree is a bit older

If you an agent asks you to pay them, run for the hills!! If you want to apply with an agent use Korean Horizons or Korvia, they work with EPIK, and you can check the EPIK website for salaries. The salary differs per province

😅tell me what does the apostiled process refer to?why do we need too? And why is it necessary? Also if this isnt too invasive what do they look for with the medical check up?
They check for drugs and any highly infectious diseases such as TB. They check your eyes and ears. They want to see that you are physically fit for the job.

Busi is onto something; so look into hagwons. You will do your quarantine at your apartment; and won’t have to pay.

Nope; I wrote on my application form that I wanted to be placed an elementary; EPIK will place you, you don’t get to choose.
So we just going to Korea for fun here coz ae the currency is super weak. Wen u decide to come back home it will be like u went to Burundi 🤦

Hey sis. I’m not sure about that what the regulations are at the moment; but most of us weren’t vaccinated when we came here.

Which platform did you work with? I have an advanced diploma of 420 hours and it is the highest there is for TEFL, so yes, it's more than enough.

Yes, you will get reimbursed, definitely if you apply for a public school.
You will most likely get the reimbursement with your first salary so you will still need to pay for your own flight first. And Accomodation is provided. I’m not sure if this is the case for private academies/schools

It’s very easy! You just have to open a remittance account with your bank and you use the banking app to transfer the money. If you send it during the week and during working hours then your money should reflect within 24 hours

If you an agent asks you to pay them, run for the hills!! If you want to apply with an agent use Korean Horizons or Korvia, they work with EPIK, and you can check the EPIK website for salaries. The salary differs per province

Apostille is kinda like certification. It is to show that all your documents are real; that the country recognises your documents as legit/real.
They check for drugs and any highly infectious diseases such as TB. They check your eyes and ears. They want to see that you are physically fit for the job.
