  • This video is part of a raw unedited lecture series about traditional mechanisms and mechanical systems given by Professor Jonathan Hopkins at UCLA. Specifically, Topic 7 discusses how free-body diagrams can be used to calculate all internal and external loads acting on a general mechanism. Graphical methods are also introduced.
Additional course resources are posted to Professor Hopkins’ website:

Many thanks for having uploaded this course. I am just beginning a phd related to flexures and mechanisms, and as my background is not in mechanics, this course (and the compliant mechanism course which I will start with soon) are perfect for preparing and brushing up on the knowledge I am missing.
The material is presented in an obvious and logical way, and the lectures have the right amount of speed and information to get the point across and also make the person following the lectures able to solve practical scenarios.

Okay, for popularity (and usability), I think your titles should have the topics in them. I scrolled through and can't choose a video.. nothing to base a click on. I hope this helps. :) (I don't know a solution except to sacrifice some of that "Traditional Mechanisms and Mechanical Systems" text. "Traditional Mechanisms: {Actual Topic} T1P2" ? Or an acronym, but with the greater # of keywords of the actual topic, people will still get there, and might see your "Intro to TMMS - Traditional Mechanisms & Mechanical Systems" ?
