Hi Mel, I own the same one and also think the bluetooth is great. The device maxes out at 60W (3 Amps) for charging from solar and USB-C. None of the Allpowers solar panels puts out 20 volts, which would be the minimum to reach 60W. Best and quickest option is the USB-C charging option. You can use a USB-C wall charger or an in-car cigarette lighter adapter.
I've ordered three over the last 6 months and they all died after 4-5 charging , discharging cycles. I'm not sure why there's a design change but all three models when I open the fuse panel to check is the fuse burned out, it has no fuse or fuse housing unit just the circuit board. I definitely can not recommend what they are shipping out now since they have changed the internals of the Model AP-SS-005
Ive opted for save for a jackery. They are def cheap for £80 at the mo. But thinking the jackery pro 1000 jjst looks a lot better. Im currevtky hooked up but going off grid soon
Hi Mel Just an update. Called into Joan Allen (in your neck of the woods) came out with a Minelab Vanquish 440. Hope to see you on the beach somewhere. Andy R
Allpower seem to use Lithium Ion rather than Lithium Iron Phosphate cells which means the battery life will be less good but still all you would probably need. Also - you will improve that life considerably if you don't store the device fully charged and don't discharge regularly below about 10-20% so nowhere near as limiting as lead acid but something to be aware of. Personally I like the look of the 1500wh model which can output 2000w "continuous" and 3300w peak i.e. to start up a large electric motor. That would be enough for some serious induction hob or microwave cooking.
H i Mel a waffle question .. do i fit a ladder to the back of my van or buy a small telescopic. thinking about theft on the roof rack ..Pros and cons please. Alan
