    I grew up in the 80s and early 90s in Eastern Europe and we still had a teacher like that. Thankfully, unthinkable nowadays.

      I'd like to think that things have improved in public schools. However bullying and harassment persists, even in post secondary institutions.

    Hey Craig, I just saw this post you made. It reminded me of my Catholic school upbringing in New York when I would sit at my desk an worry about being hit from behind. They would hit you from behind so you couldn't see it coming if you weren't paying attention to the lesson. Man, that was the worst!! I can't believe I'm not more screwed up from living through that experience. The students couldn't concentrate on learning because they were constantly worried about getting hit!!
    Anyway, hope to see you do more audio equipment and record reviews soon. Eddie

      Hi Eddie! It's great to hear from you! I haven't been watching YT videos for a while and I just discovered that you sent me a note and you just uploaded a video too! I've heard that Catholic schools were pretty dire too. I don't know how we survived our childhoods but no one can deny that we were subjected to the abusive behavior of adults. I will do some more vids when the weather gets better (:->

    In the United States corporal punishment was common during that same time. Teachers all had special paddles to whack children with. One had holes drilled through the wood that my brother said hurt more than a paddle without holes. I don't know any teachers that hit kids without a reason. My experience with schools today is far worse. My child was targeted by a covert malevolent teacher and the principal joined her in the abuse. She was punished because a teacher made a false accusation. It was awful. No innocent children deserve this treatment. I had statements from all her classmates that the teacher's story was not true and they simply said "the children are lying". All of them? When I went to each one separately at each individual's home and got the same story from all of them? Then they accused me of harassment and served me with a no trespass order so I could not go to school or protect my child. She was bullied out of school by adults who should have been protecting her.

      I do not have much respect for schools either. In fact, I worked at a university that refused to respond to bullying and harassment complaints being made against some of their horrendous managers. I hope that you find a better situation for your daughter!

    I attended Franklin School for grades 1 through 7 which were the school years 1956-57 through to 1963-64. In those days we took Kindergarten and Grade 8 at the James Robinson School. I am here to tell you that everything said in this video is true. Having said that, I received the strap six times (if memory serves) and I deserved to be punished for what I did, even though the strap was not the way to do it.

      Hello Willard, I remember you although you were a year or two older than me. I went to Robinson in Grade 7. Purvis and Kuhnle (sp?) at Robinson were very abusive as well. Purvis would torture students by forcing them to stand or sit as long as possible in positions that were so painful that the student would pass out or collapse. Disgusting stuff.

    Ghastly. And scary that it has taken thousands (or even millions) of years for homo sapiens to even begin to learn how to separate their aggressive actions from their negative feelings and thoughts. These punishing teachers seemed to enjoy abusing students and with "righteous indignation" considered it part of a day's work. I can only wonder and shudder at the kinds of thoughts, feelings and fantasies they were experiencing that led them to believe this was okay.

      I've always wondered how those creatures could look into a child's eyes and then strap them until they cried or screamed. And do this stuff repeatedly for weeks, months, years. It happened and no one was ever held accountable for it.

      our parents believed fear was the motivator to prevent us from death. We now have tools to recognize we are no longe in such scarce conditions to be behaving with such violence and even then, we now have the resources or the knowledge to find the support needed to not resort to abuse and self harm as a form of productivity

    Miss Hamill stole a comic book I was reading at recess and ripped it into little pieces. She wasn't my teacher. I know Miss Stewart would hit kids on the head in her class.

      Hi Colleen, You and your family lived a few doors up the street from us. I also remember your brothers and your husband Peter. Miss Hamill was a piece of work, as were a few others like Miss Stewart. I hope that all is well with you!

      I'm sorry about your mom and dad Colleen. I think that my mom and Tom G. are the only originals left on Talisman/Winlaw. They are both in their mid 80's now. That part of Markham sure has changed, full of monster homes now.

    I have an idea; why don’t you find out which teachers are still alive and wreak a terrible vengeance?

    • @bluenazz
      @bluenazz  4 года назад +1

      To the best of my knowledge, most of the bad teachers are long gone as it was more than 50 years ago.

    • @KevinScandinavia
      @KevinScandinavia 4 года назад +1

      Aw nuts! If there was even one or two alive it would be worth it to find an empty office and put together a couple of chairs where you could sit them down and expect them to learn something unreasonable like programming through their pre-dementia laden brains and then punish them accordingly when they fail ☺️ I feel warm and fuzzy inside already.
      Actually it’s probably best they’re all long gone 😄
      The best vengeance for me would be knowing that they lived a miserable and pointless life devoid of any kind of happiness.
