I live in Korea and have lived here for 5 years so my korean is now good enough to navigate myself through daily life, but I remember in my first two weeks moving to Korea I stood at a subway station crying because I didn't know where to get my passport photo taken. I had a few people immediately stop what they were doing and rush over to me asking what was wrong. Eventually a lovely older man walked with me to a photo studio and even paid for my pictures. You could tell he was really worried about me being alone out in the wild. I've had many experiences like that here and it's one of the many reasons why I love 🇰🇷
Some people have really good pronunciation and annunciation for words, but you can tell they aren't fluent when you try to have a conversation with them

True, but it's also because Koreans are obligated to learn English while Americans are not obligated to learn Korean. I think it would be difficult for Americans simply because they have the freedom to learn whatever languages they want or no second language at all. However, I think American attitudes should change in this day and age from "sorry I don't speak that language" to using something like google translate to help them.

우리나라 영어교육이 진짜 문제가 많음 언어라는 것은 의사소통을 위해 존재하는거라 회화위주의 교육이 되어야 하는데 독해위주의 교육만 주구장창 함 평생 거의 쓰지도 않을 단어 외우게 하고 시험은 영국 미국인 원어민도 풀기 어렵게 해놨음 영어를 10년 넘게 교육 받았는데 정작 외국인 만나면 말을 제대로 말을 못함
