  • We take a quick look at a Yildiz SPZ in 410 gauge.
This gun is £600! Obviously the alloy action has disadvantages long term, but how does it perform on the clays…

I persuaded a mate and couple of female friends who wanted to get into shooting to buy the 20 bore version of this 3 years ago when they were £450. They all three really love them and shoot excellently with them. The 30 inch version in 20 bore is effectively an "assisted opener" because it opens itself and ejects easily just by moving the lever across so very fast to reload in the field. Ultra light too so they make a great second everyday working gun around the farm without having to worry about scratching an expensive gun. These little guns cannot be beaten at the price.

I bought a Rizzini .410 about seven years ago. I love it. It's effective within the limitations of the bore, about 25 yards, possibly 30 yards. It's my rabbit gun and I shoot as soon as I safely can. Use small shot and an open choke. You will have pattern density. Even No 8 shot has enough energy to penetrate and kill cleanly.

My wife has one(Yildiz) 410 and the 20. She prefers the.410 because of a shoulder problem but we all end up shooting it. Good bit of fun but we have had a couple of quite derogatory comments. However it has become apparent that people who know shooting are quite complimentary when you hit stuff with it because they just know what it is and what you can use it for.

My first shotgun was a .410, followed closely behind by a 20 gauge. For upland birds, I really like the 28 gauge. One thing is for sure, a person will quickly come to realize that they are either a "shotgunner" or not when they use a .410 or even 28ga. Great video!

First, let me just say I greatly enjoy your videos as here in the U.S. it's not always easy to find good detailed information on fine double shotguns made in Europe and the U.K. As of today I officially own my first "best gun," a Grulla Armas 216 with a matched set of 26" barrels in 28 gauge and .410 bore made in 1996. Went to the gun shop planning to buy a nice Winchester 23 Golden Quail in 28 gauge, but when I saw the Grulla I fell in love. The fact that it came with the second barrel, the original box and a leather case was just an added bonus. Set me back a fair amount, but worth every penny!

You should ask your Beretta rep to get you a 687 Silver Pigeon III Sporting in a 410/28 2 barrel set. This set will come with 30 inch barrels and possibly a EELL wood upgrade so they do run a bit heavy, about 6 1/2 lbs. What you will find is a gun with a comb height equal to a Browning 525 Sporting and a wonderfully stable small bore that shoots much like a 20 or 12 gauge. It really is amazing what an additional 2, or 4 inches of barrel length will do. I'll also tell you that a 100 round session with the 28 gauge barrels mounted will have you wonder why anyone bothers with all that mass for ammo and gun when shooting a 12 gauge. Quite simply the 28 can do anything the 12 can do and 100 rounds of 28 gauge is much easier to carry. Yes, I do have one of these sets and 70% of my Skeet practice is done with the 410, it's less cost to home load, it's a great tool for developing precision and just plain fun to shoot.

There's a lot of snobbery around guns . I bought the exact gun you have demonstrated. People laughed until they had a go of it. For the money there is no better gun the finish etc the wood is comparable with a lot of grade 3 guns . Koffs are also very good however they struggle to cycle the magnum cartridges .Cartridge choice is paramount if you just want a bit of fun most cartridges will suffice . However buy the magnums 1400fps and people don't laugh when they see you hitting targets that they miss with a 12 . I traded up to a Ceasuer Gurrinni 410 to enter specific competitions . A different 410 expirience entirely. 32 inch barrels and also heavier . Amazing

Turkish guns have come of age. Many of you will be too young to remember, but once upon a time, a "Japanese car" was a synonym for poor quality and reliability. That changed very quickly and so too with Turkish guns. As you rightly say, Johnny, the Yildiz is a gun to buy because you want to shoot it. My son's both shoot Turkish trap (ATA trap) guns and even at the rate of hundreds of rounds per month, they won't be wearing them out anytime soon. A .410 shooter would be hard pressed to wear one out in 4 lifetimes.

Hi jonny, I shoot both 4/10 and 28 bore regularly.
Moving from 12 bore to 4/10 for instance. You have to make a conscious decision to relax your grip and don't over accelerate your gun movement. Which in a lot of cases people hang on to it, as if their life depends on it, being way to stiff, swinging through the target and into the next county.
Game shooting with a 4/10 can be very rewarding.
My son and myself shot a few rounds of, Ball Trap with 4/10s, shooting 16/25 and 19/25 respectively.
I generally shoot three quarters and full at everything.

I recently bought the 20ga. 24" barrel version , unfortunately it had a barrel regulation issue and is off to Briley's for hopefully a barrel replacement. I do not hold that against Yildiz though, and my next purchase will likely be the 28ga. version. You wouldn't believe the beauty of the fiddleback wood stock on this $500 O/U, I stopped at a large sporting goods chain on the way home from my purchase that had Brownings & Berettas in a glass case priced 6X as much- no comparison.

They also make a 410 side by side of which i own one. I recently took it along with my Winchester MOD 42 for an exclusive 410 only shoot. When i wasn't using the Yildiz there was always another shooter trying it out. Everyone loved the little gun and not once did anyone say it was a cheap gun. @@efaciler2462as a person that owns and did the bulk of his hunting with a 410 due to my experience level I taken a considerable amount of rabbit between 35-45 yards with it and the worse that’s happened was having a rabbit trying to drag itself on its front legs because his rear were completely out of service which could happen with any bore using 6 shot at that range on a rabbit in stride. Your comment sounds about right for an under experienced and over gunned person makes. Get something aside from a 12 and test your skill though I bet you miss a lot like a good bit of ppl do even using a 12 😂. If it’s something you use regularly you know its capability. There’s a guy that duck hunts religiously with a 28 bore and his success rate is as high and at times higher than guys that religiously hunt with 12’s. I'm not a current shotgun user , but I have been in the past , my first shotgun was a Belgian side lever hammer gun , 2.5 inch , 410 , with heavily pitted barrels and no remaining bluing , unlike you I've never owned a premium gun, but that little 410 would drop walked up pheasant, up to 30 yards or so ..., pigeon out to 40 yards , and even close range corvids ....I'd have given my full set of Teath to own that yilditz, I've owned a knackered out cogswell and harrison , side lock with 30 inch barrels in 12 bore ( my favourite gun ever) got a ring bulge in the full choke barrel,
and i scrapped it ....would love u to do a comparison say between a lanber o/u and the equivalent yildintz ....I've owned 2 lanbers, one 80's and a late 90's as new one , but 410 is a potent calibre, and should be in everyone's cabinet .

For upland birds (Hawaii where I live) in heavy cover you just have to go w/ the 12. I’ve got a couple but not in .410…yet. The reason I like them is because I can throw them in my truck or UTV and not worry about scratching them and get in a quick dove or quail hunt during work (I’m in the US). For what they are they are amazing and they let me shoot without having to be overly concerned about them. If I was shooting a $5000 gun I’m not sure I could bring myself to get it out of the safe😂. Love your channel keep up the good work.

I bought one for exactly this reason., they’re a great little fun gun, that I can’t hit squat with, but the smiles are worth it. Now thinking I need to learn to reload to keep it fed as the ammo cost for it is a little on the expensive side. In fact a video on reloading wouldn’t be a bad idea.
