Mental engines those. I literally dragged one out of a river once. It was sitting in there for years. We threw some 90% proof alcohol and a bit of petrol in the tank after some basic tinkering. The damned thing ran!!! We just stood there, looking at each other in utter shock.
Old Cubs engines are remarkably resilient. As they are mainly design for its use in post war Japan, they are cheap, small and adapted for terrain on an island with the weirdest of weathers and hills all over the place
Congratulations friends, I realized that even without many technological resources and cutting edge tools, they did an excellent job. I'm in isolation here in Brazil, in São Paulo, and watching your video brought me a little joy. Hugs.
Great job! I can't imagine what kind of work you could do if you were in a top notch shop. You diffently have the skill and knowledge . Looks like you know these bikes thru and thru.

I am not sure if he re-uses bolts, parts weren't measured for spec. If he cleaned the bolts - the rust prevetion coating could be gone. So in a few years in the rain - a lot of rust will show, Remain sceptical unless you see it.

Oh gosh, childhood memory. My brother took me to school with this and we had so much fun riding crazily on the way. haha. good job and looking forward to your next project!
Another superb job done! But I have some suggestions that might improve the end results!. Firstly the decals or stickers should be put first before spraying with the clear coat. The stickers will last longer and looks more 'factory' type. The exhaust and chrome parts should be polished or replaced and the bike would look newer. As of the bike itself, you should install the white plastic leg shields which will enhanced the looks too. Lastly I hope that the next project will be a 2 stroke bike, preferably a Yamaha Y80 or equivalent. These bikes are as robust as a Honda but easier to repair due to their simple design.
Congratulations and thanks to a fantastic team Today I want to dedicate a special thanks to this wonderful team! Each of you has proven to be a valuable and indispensable element in this achievement. After all, the success of a project depends on the commitment of each member of a team. And you all showed great determination and dedication, and especially an incredible team spirit. Without sacrifice and hard work nothing is achieved, and this whole team is proof of that. The path may have been difficult, sometimes too much. But everyone knew how to maintain trust in each other and never gave up or looked away from the goal. Today we reap the fruits of that dedication and now we enjoy the triumph. Everyone is to be congratulated and deserves a sincere thanks for the work done! Congratulations and thank you, team!
You dont need to be a genius to restore that. All you need is a lot of mechanical aptitude and common sense and good knowledge of how a small engine works, plus the right tools.

I'm so glad there are people in this world who would even bother to restore something as classic as this old honda cub. Being a non tool using person, I would have looked at this thing and consigned it to a scrap yard and that would have been a shame. Heck of a job but the end result is a classic old honda that will likely run for years and years and bring fun into whoever's life it ends up in. Wonderful, wonderful job and it looks and runs like new. Very, very well done!
Dude if you watched the whole video you can see all the hard work to restore each original part, as you can see they added some new parts to the bike which were unusable like the wheel spokes, seat and rear rack so this might just be they changed the left side engine cover which an original honda one to keep it more original as the old one was not.
