Thank you Jake. I appreciate your comment 🙏. Congratulations on your purchase! And yes please get out there and do some of that relaxing 😌 you deserve it!!
The main thing I don't like about tent camping is setting up the tent on the ground (and dealing with rocky or unlevel ground) and things getting all dirty, then getting it all rolled and packed. This seems pretty cush for camp sites you can drive into.
You are the master of gadgets. 😂 Cool table and tent. I went the hardtop route, it arrives Wednesday. I hope to use it on Saturday. Happy Belated Birthday!
I recently subscribed to your channel like 2 months ago when i was torn between getting a truck and OBW. Well i ended up getting a 2024 OBW and now I can't stop watching your vids on what I should modify for my vehicle next! I had the hitch install from dealer first (too lazy to do myself, and thankfully it was correctly installed compared to others). Lovin the Galbi and Kimchi too! Keep up the fantastic Subaru / camping / gear vids! the PNW looks great! I don't have any mountains near me as they are about 3 hrs away lol in the southeast. Happy birthday man!
Thank you for Subbing and congratulation on your purchase! I am glad I was able to help you out in making your decision. If you have any questions regarding any of my videos, Please feel free to ask anytime!! And Thank you for the birthday wish~! I really appreciate it. BTW what truck were you looking into?
Great camping video. Looks like a nice rooftop tent choice. For me, my Outback is also a daily driver so I wouldn’t want to keep the tent on the roof all the time. It becomes a storage issue as my wife and I live in a townhouse so storage is a premium. The freestanding tent works best for me. I do a lot of long distance road trips of greater than a 1K miles with my Subaru Outback so mpg becomes important also. I do enjoy your videos and car camping gear reviews.
Good video...looks like an epic place to camp, as long as the wind doesn't blow you off it! Haha. I looked into RTT and decided against it. We do not camp anywhere near often enough to have one since you basically leave them on the vehicle, and cost factor as well since they are not inexpensive. We love car camping inside out '21 Ascent with the sleep platform I made for it, and we have 2 Kelty side awnings to expand the utility and ease of it. So for us, our need for an RTT isn't there. Do I love the idea of one? Absolutely, so I hope you get many more cool fun adventures with yours! Happy camping!
I love your channel. Many years ago I lived in Olympia and Mt Rainer is so majestic. Happy Belated Birthday!! I’m looking forward to hearing your review on the rooftop tent. I have plans to go to the Overland Expo East in October and will be looking at options for a roof top tent! Keep chasing this adventures ! It has motivated me to get out and go camping !
Hi Kimberly! Thank you so much for your support and birthday wish~ I have yet to go to the overland expo.. have a great time there! The review video will be coming soon~
@@ChasingAdventuresCO I ended up purchasing the Naturehike Tipi tent you reviewed. At first I hated it and by the end of my trip I actually was glad I took the leap. I still like the Tigris tent you have used in the colder and wetter weather. So I’m thinking about that! Have a great evening !
@@kimberlydickenson9141 you have?! Nice. I do like that tent. isn't it just gorgeous to look at? and if you do get the OneTigris tent, make sure to weather it before taking it out in the rain and use my discount code ~ have a great evening!!
I just got a Foothills and I'm always looking for setup information. I've seen other RUclipsrs reverse the cover so that the zipper faces the fold out side. This would keep you from having to climb the backside of your vehicle. Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting.
Nice! Welcome to the Foothill gang~ how do you like it? And thanks for the tip. I would have to try it out next time I use it. Thanks for joining us~ I appreciate it 🙏 😊
Hi I’ve been a ground camper for decades. Getting old I wanted to try something new and not have to roll off of the ground anymore. I still backcountry hike/camp so I reserve ground camping for those trips :)
Thank you!! I appreciate it. and merch should be available soon. I wanted to test out which brand is best before I offer them and narrowed it down to a few good ones out there.
I have a question for you. Considering KingCamp Mattress since Thule mattress is stiff indeed. I have more usage for it than just Tepui Foothill, so it is worth spend little money for comfort. However.... It seem shorter and wider than Tepui footprint 84x47 (Tepui), vs. 79.x50.4. 1. Does it fir into the tent nicely? 2. Can you deflate and store inside together with Thule Mattress? Did you try to close the tent with both inside? It would definitelly save space in cargo space of the car if it would be storeable inside (deflated).
it is slightly shorter but not much. I didn't try to close the tent with the mattress in there as I tent camp often too and use the mattress more often than in the RTT but it shouldn't have any problem closing the RTT with the mattress in there as long as you open the valve so it will deflate.
Hi, you are correct, I did not list it because I purchased it from Aliexpress and had a bad experience with them. but the stove is great. if you want, you can search Naturehike stove at Aliexpress.
Hello there! Nice setup! May I ask You what type of the awning You have? Is it Thule Approach Awning L ? Is it compatibile with the Foothill? Thank YOU
Great video! QQ about the rooftop tent / roof rack. Do you use the stock cross bars that come with the car, or do you have aftermarket ones? I've heard the stock ones aren't great for tents / anything heavy.
I also have this tent and love it but it's a little difficult setting it up on a lifted vehicle. Do you ever have issues with any of the support poles popping out of the base when setting it up? My rear pole comes out if I push too hard. It's not a big deal, just annoying.
It is, and to put back into the cover is a pain!! It's a love and hate relationship! LOL. And I have not had what you're experiencing yet but that does sound annoying.
Hey! I just bought this tent today at Rack Attach in Charlotte. I haven’t even set it up yet, will try tomorrow. Did you do a review? I was curious to know your thoughts. Unfortunately I’m second guessing my decision. It was pricy, can’t place ladder in tent while closed and space is at a premium in the car. Also, I live in a city setting , street parked and can’t take off the tent and store. I do like that it only takes up 24 inches width when closed- and I have the Thule XT sport box on passenger side. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
well, congrats on your purchase and its a lot of money for what it is but for space saving RTT, there is non like it and so far I love it. the material used are premium stuff and the fabric is thick and will keep you warm during colder nights. and I like the fact that I can put and remove the RTT and store it when its not in use all by my self. I would recommend flipping the cover so that it is easier to close the cover and trust me on this. ruclips.net/video/7ewUrfk0_-o/видео.htmlsi=qvM1Ex1DSkXKGy5N but like you mentioned, the only negative is the ladder placement.. but other than that, so far so good for me. once you use it, you will appreciate it. is this your first RTT?
@@ChasingAdventuresCO Yea, my first rtt. I ended up bringing it back to Rack Attack three days after I purchased it. You’re right on- very durable material and great value. However, my intent is to mostly car-camp inside my car mixed in with ground tent camping when hiking. Maxing my storage space was always first priority- so, I actually bought a second Thule Force XT Sport box - so now I have two mounted and provides more than enough space for gear, plus if I want I could mount an awning on either side or traction boards between the two boxes. Each box is 24” w, so it leaves some room to play with on the 53” crossbars. Maybe once I have a garage I’ll revisit the rtt, so I can place it in storage when not in use.The guys at Rack Attack did the flipping of the cover, which would make it easier as you indicated. Appreciate all your suggestions
@@briantodd4887 I see, well I am glad they took it back and RTT isn't for everyone, and it sounds like you are better without it. I haven't really used mine either but it was such a good deal, that I couldn't resist LOL. glad it all worked out.
Thanks for another informative video. You were right. This RTT seems a bit more fiddly than others. Interesting concept and design though. Question.. I followed your link to the tarp but it shows multiple options. Which one do you have? And that Mission Mountain table and chairs set looks pretty awesome. Added to my "to buy" list!!

How do you fid a place with these kind of views?? i plan on trading my car in at the end of the year to get a crosstreck wilderness specifically so i can start camping. also I'm completely new to this so any tips would be appreciated!
For me RTTs just seem inconvenient. Would be a pain to get my dog in and out of, have to put everything away if you want/need to move, has to be throughly dried when you get home, and more exposure to wind vs a ground tent or inside the car. I rarely have passengers so have been building out my inside for comfort. Btw, what were those small retro lanterns and the rack you always hang your cooking stuff on?
