First! Very nice, I can see why you wanted it. I’d definitely try loosening the detent based on what I see. It seems it should just pop open with the thumb stud. Sorry about the disappointment, that always sucks. I’d switch the blades

I've always wanted a chris reeves but won't spend that much until I can try one in hand and I can by 3 nice spydercos instead!
Yeah I think I would need to get a one of his knives in hand. Just want to see why it worth so much. I mean there are so many more expensive knives.
If you all want a Reeve like knife that’s just as good and on bearings get SRM Land 910T2, you can get it for about $150, all Titanium and M390, looks just like a Reeve knife. I have the 820 Ti with VG-10 and it’s amazing quality. I’ll be scooping up the 910 very soon.
I love the look of PW knives as well, they look very elegant but simple. Your probably putting too much pressure on the lockbar when your trying to use the studs. Also after a few weeks of breaking it in it will get smooth. I’ve seen many videos of smooth opening action. I wouldn’t worry to much about it right now.

When CRK was originally in production, they were pretty much the only ones doing what they did. Folder fit and finish was very very variable in those days (on even other high end brands) and when you bought a CRK, it was almost a sure thing that it would be built to the tightest tolerances. Have they managed to keep up with the times and remained comparative? Probably not. Their aftercare is still pretty bang on. I like this review though - hats off for paying for the premium model. They did overcharge compared to the Megalodon limited edition but meh whatever. PS - take your finger off the lockbar back right up and hold via the clip and deploy. Your problem should clear right up.
One day I'll own an CRK and see what they're all about. The price and options are always a factor that keeps me away. They seem like the same design but with different options?

I actually like the fuller one better than the more expensive grail thumbstud one. lol
Is there a bur around the detenthole? Or is it too much lochbar presure? Seems something like that. I also had that problems on other knives. Hope you can enjoy your grail in near future. Let me know. Greatings from austria and stay save and healthy......

I don't get the price of Chris Reeves knives either, or any expensive knives like the ones Neeves gave away (I liked them except for the Shirogorov). If they had exquisite carvings or designs, yes, but the relatively plain ones, no. Who knows, maybe as I go further, something might change my mind.
$90 off?!?! 🤯 I am sorry to hear it is so disappointing. I have that problem with frame locks, but I presume you know that issue. Put a drop of heavy oil in the detent divot? I hope the grail piece is more fulfilling for you. I hope you and the boys are well over there, brother.

That's a shame you don't care for the thumbstud. I'm glad it doesn't ruin it for you.
I will make it work or modify it. Looking for a machinist to add in the fuller and remove the stud.
This is a beautiful, well-made knife, unfortunately no longer available.
Lubricate the detent and its path on the blade with technical petroleum jelly, and if that does not help, remove the protection, press the frame lock hard enough to reduce its tension.
I will take a stab at it sometime down the road. Honestly it get worse with each dissasembly even though I polished the washer and everything. Maybe it the lockbar like you said.
@@TheLastRanger RUclipsrs are the worst source of knowledge. Polishing the washers is absurd - you just need to twist the pivot loosely. I advise you to start by applying a little lubricant to the detent.
Do you like Hinderers, Hoback or Spartan Blades? Just curious brother if it’s just CRK you don’t care for.
I really don’t know about all of those. To poor to afford any of those makers.
Keep your fingers off the lockbar and it opens easily.
