    To see subtitles in other languages: Click on the gear symbol under the video, then click on "subtitles." Then select the language (You may need to scroll up and down to see all the languages available).
    --To change subtitle appearance: Scroll to the top of the language selection window and click "options." In the options window you can, for example, choose a different font color and background color, and set the "background opacity" to 100% to help make the subtitles more readable.
    --To turn the subtitles "on" or "off" altogether: Click the "CC" button under the video.
    --If you believe that the translation in the subtitles can be improved, please send me an email.

      It's the produce of copyright madness. According to current laws, each day more aggressively applied, you can't use anything that has been produced in around 100-150 years before now, because it might be copyrighted and some mafia organization pretending to represent the artist's intellect, may get your video retired from the Internet otherwise, what is very annoying. Using classical music avoids that problem altogether.

    Thank you for the video. Background music seems unnecessary. There is so much communication in the video happens simultaneously: animations, voice over, music and rapid development of the material. It is pretty difficult task for the brain to process and analyze all of that communication at the same time. I believe the topic being covered is quite complex in its nature for comprehension and I believe that's the reason for the video to be made. Personally, I need to rewind-pause-play time to time and follow through the schematics to grasp a certain statement. And listening to the same piece of music over and over again is rather annoying. That's not an issue for me to mute the video. Although I believe placement of background music must be somehow justified (like it's been proven that majority of physics students learn "Logic Gates" material faster and more efficiently by listening to that particular piece of classical music). If someone learns better with music playing in the background, they have bunch of options available -- open separate browser tab with music-stream, launch iTunes player or listen to home-radio -- and listen whatever music works best for them.

    instead of 1s and 0s or on and off, I see High and Low or Hi and Lo more often.
    It refers to High voltage(on/1) or Low Voltage(off/0) also Low/off doesn't necessarily mean no voltage it just means low and this can be a good idea if you want the circuit or chip to have a reaction for a disconnected situation where it isn't getting any voltage and can go into a safety mode to deal with it.
    If you've been around in electronics it's something you quickly pick up but often gets glossed over in lessons.

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  8 лет назад +1

      If the input that we control is high, and the other input is tied to the output, the output will keep oscillating. This is similar to connecting the output of the not gate to its own input.

  • @moiquiregardevideo

    Excellent animation.
    At the same time as the animation appear, I would suggest to show the truth table with all 4 possible input present and output set to ?. Then, as the animation show the transistors/switches moving, replace the ? by the value displayed by the animation.
    When showing the conversion of logic function by inverting the output, a truth table with two columns for output would make it more clear. One output column showing the result before inversion, the other, the actual result after the invertor.
    Finally, when showing the inversion of both input, the truth table may have 2 layers, as two table on top of each other in 3D.
    If we dream to make this introduction to logic gate memorable forever, some humour could be added. For example, showing old looking switches on ceramic insulator with exposed paper isolated wires. Then, flashback to the modern era of transistors. Another short historic flashback could show these fences with a few locks in chain, representing an OR gate: any resident with one key can access the shared land.

      That is a valid point. I don't expect the author to spend time and convince his financial supporter to produce an improved tutorial.
      The characteristic that distinguish this author is an original way to explain electronic concepts using 3D.
      I hope that somebody else will get inspired from these videos to create yet another way to display these concepts... I have no idea what it could be. I hope that this new author will also look at the best tutorial that existed in the antique quasi prehistoric time when I learned logic gate.
      At that time, a "truth table" was always shown, presenting all possible input and resulting output. This is the top down approach : show the result, then work you way back to the abstract of engineering.
      The fact that you commented my comment shows me that my comments get really published by youtube and that some people read them. This is good news to me, giving some value to my attempt to write constructive comments.

    Hi i'm confused in 5:33, based on the illustration,
    Input is logic LOW
    Output is logic HIGH
    with that, therefore NO CURRENT is flowing through the resistor. right? coz THERE'S NO voltage difference at the two ends of resistor.
    INPUT 0
    OUTPUT 1
    OUTCOME: NO CURRENT. 0
    isn't it the real output variable is if there's current flowing in or out of the resistor.
    and in 6:00
    Input is logic HIGH
    Output is logic LOW
    with that, therefore THERE IS CURRENT flowing through the resistor. right? coz THERE IS a voltage difference at the two ends of resistor.
    INPUT 1
    OUTPUT 0
    OUTCOME: THERE IS CURRENT. 1
    no my question is, is it really a NOT gate? Coz There is current through the resistor ONLY IF Input is HIGH.
    thanks for response :)

    • @JC-XL
      @JC-XL 5 лет назад

      Nope.
      You have to look at the whole thing as a complete closed element with only INPUT and OUTPUT !
      You don't look inside, you don't care what happens with the resistor, transistor or internal current.
      You ONLY CARE with the INPUT and OUTPUT.
      For example, if you apply +5V to INPUT if you get +5 or 0 on the OUTPUT.
      You're looking to use this as a small element in huge logic hierarchy so you only care what's the voltage in and out.

    So is the transistor hooked up to a separate power source?

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  8 лет назад +2

      You can have one power source power all the transistors in all the logic gates of a circuit.

  • @starwarsjk99

    What happens when you have a not gate and feed it into itself. If its high then the output becomes low, which inputs low, then becomes high. Will it just fluctuate.
    A = A'

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  9 лет назад +2

      jk991234 Yes, the output of the not gate will keep flipping back and forth. At least that is what would happen with a real not gate. The circuits I drew for this video is not the way actual commercial logic gates are produced.

    • @Caomusca
      @Caomusca 9 лет назад +2

      Asim Deyaf yes, that would basically be what's called in electronics a 'clock'. Its something that oscillates at a constant frequency and can be used to set the speed of a circuit or how often something happens. I think you've heard of 'clock speed' when looking up graphics cards or processor specs

      jk991234 I don't know too much about this stuff but would the circuit burn it self because it's a short circuit?

    • @Caomusca
      @Caomusca 9 лет назад +1

      Ty Prince
      No, these gates are usually pretty weak they can't supply enough current/voltage to destroy themselves. It also depends on how much resistance the input to the gate has.

      Lyonhartsgaming For the 3D animations, I use a program called "Poser." The narration is done by Kira Vincent, who is a friend of mine who is a professional voice actor. She does the narration for all my videos, and she also created the music for my "Journey of the Fireflies" video.

    The background music is kind of out of place, but other than that, this is a great video! Now, just a question that I have after watching this: what would be required to change the output of that logic gate at the end of the video back to logic low?

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  8 лет назад

      +Felipe Gabe, you would need to interrupt the logic high signal from the output to the input. Once both input signals are at logic low, the output will return to logic low.

    I love your videos. They are excellent, they help me a lot. I really
    loved the way you expressed the voltage effects on the gate as a sort of
    leverage. That really helped me visualize. I know that's "not the way
    it is" , but then again... in another way... I think maybe it is !
    Anyway, this really assists me in learning and remembering "the facts" from text books [which I am not great at doing all of the time].

    This way of explaining circuits breaks down when you have just a battery and a wire, like in that case the voltage would have to drop eventually, so I can't be all at the same voltage as long as it's connected by a wire. That confuses me.

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  7 лет назад +1

      Batteries have some internal resistance, so you have to model a real battery as an ideal battery in series with a resistor.
