Very informative. An inferior dog or bitch should never be allowed to reproduce if this is allowed it leads to the rapid demise of the breed. The Irish Wolfhound is a prime example. The breed just keeps getting less and less healthy leading to an average lifespan of only 6 years.
Yeah I really don't like how they say some features are correct and incorrect, as if an incorrect dog would need to be euthanized, because it's not perfect ....
The breed standard for a dog breed describes a dog that has good genetic health, stable genetic temperament, and sound genetic structure, and correct smooth movement. These things are important because incorrect structure, for example, could mean a dog that suffers physical ailments due to that incorrect structure like hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, spinal issues, foot issues, even breathing or cooling issues, frequent ear infections or eye infections. Structure and the standard are written the way they are for a purpose. Incorrect movement could put more wear and tear on the skeletal structure causing the dog to break down younger than it would if it had correct movement and structure which then causes pain to a dog. Correct temperament is not only needed to be a good companion and member of society but also to do the job it was originally bred for. Good health in the lines is important for heart, eyes, longevity etc... Reputable ethical breeders do not euthanize dogs that have deviations from the breed standard, they simply sell them into companion only homes on non breeding contracts so that only the best examples of the breed are bred forward from in order to maintain good genetic health, sound genetic structure, stable genetic temperament, and longevity in the dogs they produce. Thus benefitting the quality of life of all dogs produced.
All borzois are perfect no matter the features 💖
I agree.

He was referring in the eyes of the judges when entered in competitions not generally. It won't matter for a companion dog.
Typically breeders will sell pups that don't meet the standard to happy homes as companion pets. They're only talking about competition
