      Ah man glad this was helpful. Sorry to hear that you're having to replace all that, but if the original parts lasted that long you should be good to go for awhile! 😁

    Hello Chris, thank you for making this video. I have a 2012 FX35 and a 5 gal jug of water tipped over when I made a turn and started spilling into the cabin. I quickly pulled over and opened the back hatch using the hatch button to the left of the steering wheel and uprighted the jug, but only after a couple of gallons spilled out. Later that day, I tried opening my hatch with the same button, the key fob, and from the back of the car, nothing happened. Do you have any ideas on what I can do to troubleshoot this problem?

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  10 месяцев назад

      Make sure you didn’t turn off the switch to open / close the hatch near the button under the steering wheel. I’ve done that before on my 2nd gen and thought it was broken. Otherwise it’s possible that something shorted with the hatch motor 🤷‍♂️

    I'm guessing this was an option? I just bought an 07 yesterday, one owner, garage kept, and mint for $5400.00. I do not hear a motor when I close the back and it has to be opened from the back from what I can tell. As with any vehicle I buy there's a learning curve figuring out where everything is and the different functions.. I've subscribed and I'm sure you'll save me some time at some point.

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  Год назад

      Thanks for the sub. Not sure, I've owned 2 first gen fx35s, a base model 07 and this loaded 08 and both had the motor that would grab the hatch and pull it in another inch or so when closed. Honestly I always thought it was weird because any other car you just close the hatch, but on both of mine you close it and then it pulls it in just a tad more. No idea what the purpose is, but it's possible that yours went out, but as long as you can open and close it I wouldn't worry about it. 😁

    Did the faulty door latch drain your battery at some point?
    My alarm tells me my door latch is open, but the open door does not show on my dash and it is draining my battery within a day or two? The weird thing is mine open and closes fine and I can even hear it click. It's not the Alarm as the alarm was replaced and new as well Pretty Weird it's draining my battery since door is closed and locked.
    Seems easy enough to do, but it's getting cold here in NYC and I'm a little worried the plastic clips can break? cold plastic can become very brittle.

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  10 месяцев назад +1

      Indeed the plastic clips are brittle as is so I understand. No, I never had an issue with battery drain when mine did this. Mine didn’t show door ajar, it just wouldn’t open when it failed. 🤷‍♂️

    The only part missing from the video is a close up view of how you detached the power connection...everything I've tried has damaged the power-side connector

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  Месяц назад

      Watch again at 6:30 where I showed it the best I could and explained what I was doing since I needed 2 hands and couldn't hold the camera and undo the power connector. Most cars have these kind of electric connectors, just squeeze and pull. Sometimes you need a small flathead screwdriver to squeeze in the sides, but that's all there is to it. Then there's the grey tab that holds it in, you'll need to push that out with something. Hope that helps.

      Hey thanks glad some of these videos might be helpful. Yes those are the oem smoked twilights, they were a factory option, but a bit rare compared to the red ones most came with. Sometimes you can find them used on eBay. Same fit regardless if it's a FX35 or fx45 so it's an easy upgrade if you can get your hands on a set of ones in good condition. To me it makes a big difference on the rear end of the vehicle!

    • @GQ37official

      so yours is motorized correct, you pull on the handle and then it will usually auto open? If so, can you manually raise it or is it stopping part way like it's getting stuck on something?

    Hello Chris - does your FX suffer from the weak door actuator issue?
    Mine functions in cold(er) weather, but when it is warm the rears fail to unlock / lock sometimes.
    Also, what did you do with the crossbars for your roof rack? I've been looking for some for mine! (05 FX35)

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  3 года назад

      Thankfully no mine doesn't have that issue. I didn't take my crossbars off, I painted the roof rack and put it back on as it came.

    Is there anyway you can tell me if there’s a door lock actuator fuse/relay for a 2005 Infiniti fx35 and it’s location?

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  2 года назад

      I'm not aware of a specific fuse just for the door locks. Usually it's the door lock actuators that go out. Unlike windows where mainly the front driver / passenger are used the most, it's more common for all the door lock actuators to go bad close to the same as the vehicle gets older.... they were all installed at the same time from the factory and thanks to remote door locks they get locked and unlocked about the same amount of time daily and tend to wear out at the same pace. Its a bit expensive to replace them all at the same time, but from what I've read that tends to be the fix. Let us know here if you find another work around.

    So it slammed shut instead of closing on its own once it gets to a certain point of closing??

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  2 года назад

      Yes instead of the motor taking over once you shut it and sucking it in the rest of the way it didn't do that which is a sign that it's going out and one day you'll just go to open your hatch and it won't open from the outside, which is what happened to me

    Hey Chris I seem to be having the same issue with my 2008 Infiniti fx35. however, if I removed the 15 amp fuse for the rear it works for about a few weeks to a month. then I have to repeat those same steps. Do you still think it's the rear latch motor needs replace? and also do you have the link to order the replacement motor. thanks

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  3 года назад

      Hi Mark that is a bit strange it seems more like an electrical issue than the motor if it works temporarily after replacing the fuse. Hard to say if replacing the motor would fix it as it doesn't sound like that's the issue. Might be worth having a dealership diagnose it even if you replace the part yourself to save money. As far as the latch motor actuator I bought mine off eBay. I didn't put a link in the video as it's not a mass quantity listing type part so once that part sells that link would no longer be good. However, if you want to get one I can find one and send you a link.

    How you fold down and up rear seats on a infinity fx35 2005

    • @GQ37official
      @GQ37official  3 года назад

      There's 2 ways, in the seat itself near the seat belt insert is a small plastic lever poking through the lower back portion of the crease (in between the seats) pull that up to move the seat back and forth. The other way is from the rear hatch if you're trying to lay them flat....there is a lever on each side Right and Left of the vehicle just under that small rear side window, it's usually a dark grey color, pull that and push the seats forward (or back if you want to recline it more) Hope that helps.
