What does it mean for "failed to complete his cycle of sonatas before his death"? I am really a beginner on Debussy XD. And thank you for your advice in advance!
@@luoduwz9789 He set out to write six sonatas for various instruments. Only three were completed: this Cello Sonata, the Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp, and the Violin Sonata. I'm offering a few thoughts about all three at my blog, The Listeners' Club: thelistenersclub.com
Quite unusual Debussy-thing - made even more unusual by this performance with incredible grit and passion. The dynamic is masterfully handled by Sophia ( who definitely have reached more than a bachelor ! LOL ! ), and not least the collaboration between the two ( whois playing the piano ?) is deeply fascinating. I'm totally marvelled ! And have got a new hero !
Lovely tone but their is something going on about the action to that cello,I'm hearing buzzing notes on open strings and higher up the neck.Either action is too low or the gauge of strings is too light.
Finally for the last several bars of this quintessentially marvelous work the player woke up and delivered some passion. imho works of Debussy are too easily interpreted as being 'as if from a dream' w/o here-and-now passion. (thus i'm sorry to say, the rest of it she and the pianist seemed to be dialing in from the place of 'let's just get all the notes correct.)
How sad that Debussy never managed to complete his cycle of sonatas before his death! What a wonderful piece.

Lovely, the piece, the interpretation and the solist!
Still in 2024 so brilliant
What a beautiful performance! I'm learning this piece now and I've just fallen in love with the music
Loved your playing! This piece can often sound lost but you really made music with it, such a great interpretation, full of character and musical!

Daniela Hlinkova piano
Lasse Bjerregård Larsen-Ledet yea i am pretty sure she is or already has a master’s degree from julliard
😍😍
Muito Lindo !!!
Would this piece make for a good audition piece? Also, what was your audition piece for julliard?
Well done. Just one criticism. You support your first finger with the second, which makes vibrato on the first finger sound like a trill.
Interesting bowings. Why the gliss in 5:15?
Because it's in the score.
dude forcaster it’s not in the scores I have.
you can download this score ,“imslp”.download is free!
so enjoyable and beautifully played and judged. But I felt that at times the piano was dominating too much, cello figurations drowned out.
Lovely tone but their is something going on about the action to that cello,I'm hearing buzzing notes on open strings and higher up the neck.Either action is too low or the gauge of strings is too light.
I think it’s that she has so much strength that she presses the bow wood against the hair at some points.

Piano is too loud.
I can’t hear the cello
Then get better ears u. R u deaf?
