I can’t say this enough. You guys do the best work I’ve ever seen on these type of installs. Keep up the awesome work Dean and Fernando! You guys are the best!
Awesome video series! I have a 2007 Sequoia Limited with the JBL Speakers, with the GPS head unit and the DVD player in the center console. My front door subwoofers developed "rattle" distortion this winter. Thanks to the excellent tutorial on how to open the door panel up, the outer rim of the woofer foam ring had indeed dry rotted out. Turns out though the middle foam section was fine, which was still securely connected to the woofer cone. Turns out all I had to do is apply some glue to the edge of the foam ring, and then apply more glue to the speaker ring bracket, press the ring onto the woofer foam/cone assembly, let the glue dry thoroughly, and it solved the problem. The stereo once again sounds "acceptable". Probably not as great as that Kenwood system installed in the video, but good enough. Someday I just might do that myself. Thanks again.
+Five Star Car Audio Dean, Thanks for taking so many of your viewer's suggestions, and THANKS for providing so many details on this install, like each particular step when Fernando is removing the door panel, instead of the usual, "and here's Fernando removing the door panels" (with a simple wide camera shot). These videos are GOLD to both new installers and DIY'ers, so a HUGE 👍👍 !
For the annoying door panel push pin clips, use a Philips3 screwdriver and you won’t pust them too far in. Great show Guys! Love watching you doing installs! 👍🏼
Thank you very much for the detailed video! Just got a Sequoia with a dead stereo and blown speakers. I'm looking forward to this set up! And I love the sound damping video too.
Enjoy the work you guys do very thoughtfull about how you want a customer system to be installed and sound more shops need to follow your lead and that would also help the industry with your customer service
Nice. Wish this video was made when I decided to replace my wife’s whole system on her ‘05 Sequoia. Can’t wait to see where you’re going to install the amp? I had mine installed under the center console just below the radio and cigarette lighter. Keep up the great work
Cliff P I used 6.5 pioneer all the way around cause they came with universal brackets and my factory amp is located under my radio. I have a pioneer double din with a kicker amp
Hi Leroy, I have an 03 Sequoia LIMITED so with the JBL System. It is pretty shot now and I want to replace it. I am not to handy and don't really have the time to do it myself. Before taking it in, any tips on what to get? Should I even shoot for apple carplay? The wheel buttons stopped working recently unfortunately but yeah any advice on what to buy and stuff would be greatly appreciated. Someone up on the comments said "factory brackets are unique, reuse them, dont chunk them!!" ... am I going to lose anything important?
Thanks for doing this video. I have this vehicle and there are very few videos on a full stereo install. I plan to add a large 6 channel McIntosh amp but, am struggling to find a place for it. Also replacing radio and speakers with Focal. I also have a choice of subs JL 8W7 in stealth box or JL 13wT.
@soundmanca literally stealing his build design. Literally word for word his system. Either ylu are super rich, or yoy are lying. The obvious answer is the latter.
Cool to see something similar to my 2006 4Runner, same Kenwoods in my rear doors but 6-3/4". For anyone who has a similar model Toyota and is an amateur like me, buy some door panel clips/retainers in advance of beginning your door speaker replacement.
You guys are truly professional with you installs and detailed explanation step by step. Great job. I have 17 ram 1500 crew cab and looking for the best sub, replacement speakers for it... I want to resting use of rear seats and factory head unit... it does not have the alpine setup!!!
Just actually ordered a w650 for my Wrangler, I know how much you guys lover Wranglers, I had been sitting on the fence about a i207 but just could not justifiy the $1k WRA kit
I installed the Rockford p300 in a friend's 2019 mustang used the speaker level inputs and the switch for turn on is set on audio the other day his car was off and the sub was buzzing by itself.
Those early SUV had great sounds systems my favorite is the 01 Denali Bose system has deep bass like and front it has three way component system 🤷🏻♂️ what happen to the Bose in the 2007 gm truck i don’t know they sound like trash
Question the wires that are yellow and red that plug into the midrange speaker plug into what wires ? because I’m replacing the component speaker with a 2 way speaker only obsolete the component speaker so it’s 4 wires from factory to 2 wires going into the 2 way speaker. I get sound but no vocal sound only bass sound into the new 2 way speaker. On this video u say the tweeter and midrange speaker are on the same channel so how do I connect the 4 wires to the 2 way speaker. Please help I’m stuck figuring it out.
I took it in to a radio shop and told me Mercedes has the same set up. So u get a positive from the midrange and a negetive from the woofer and plug those in to your new speaker if it is a 2 way speaker or 3 way or 4 way 👍🏼
"I'm gonna ponder that for a minute." Translation: "I'm gonna go poop." 🤣 This would have been a cool one to do a nice 3-way setup, was it out of the budget? Also what is the new red pry tool?
I would go with ct sounds if that was my sequoia because they make 3 way component speakers. 3 way components in front and 6.5 coaxials in the rear maybe even drill a hole into the rear door window sills and go with 2 way components so that passengers in the backseat can easily hear the highs because it's not blocked off the shin.
Great videos you produce. So I have a 2011 Dodge Dakota that does not have factory tweeters, what do you recommend for budget minded customer as far as replacing speakers, not sure I really want to have customized place to put tweeters.
In case anyone is wondering the yellow is positive and the red is negative on the 2" speaker. I know that because I wired it backwards, and now I know something.
Hey guys, I watched this last week. Yesterday I spent a few mins on the sequoia. I can't drive it yet because I can't get it tagged and titled because the dmv is still closed in VA. Anyway, the jbl radio and the clock do not work. Checked all fuses with my powerprobe3, all good there. Do you know where I can get a wiring diagram for the audio system in the sequoia? Thanks for all you do guys!
Scott Healy I have the same question. So they hooked up the new speaker to be on the same channel as the tweeter... but if the tweeter isn’t running through the amp then the new speakers wouldn’t be either.
So that 7" midbass speaker, on a amp how low would you go on a crossover? Another question, I have KENWOOD DMX7705S and KENWOOD XR901-5, should I use the crossovers in the deck or just on the amp?
Question here l have a 2015 limited tacoma with jbl sound system And I would like to change my speakers with mome 4 ohm speakers you guys think it will sound better or it will change because of the amount of energy my system provides?
Hey man, what are the dimensions of the sub woofer, or are they all the same? Bc my buddy has a sequoia with a shot system and I'm trying to buy him a new one as a gift and I want to make sure that it works before I spend a couple hundred bucks.
Do you think this stock system was better sounding than the 2005 GMC Denali / Escaldade ESV with the BOSE Lux Sound System and the 6.5" sub in the console?
Crazy how old that vehicle is. Might have been better just to get a new one. No really we bought a 2008 Hyundai in 2008. It certainly doesn't look brand new 12 years later but it cleans up super nice. Not sure how vehicles take so much damage.
Hey would you guys build me a set of the 01 sequoia front door speaker adapters and send em to me with a big 5 star car audio sticker so I can advertise for you here on the west coast.
I can’t say this enough. You guys do the best work I’ve ever seen on these type of installs. Keep up the awesome work Dean and Fernando! You guys are the best!

I have been waiting for this video for a year now, thank you.
Thank you very much for the detailed video! Just got a Sequoia with a dead stereo and blown speakers. I'm looking forward to this set up! And I love the sound damping video too.
How did you wire in the midrange with the four wires?
Big d wiz sent me ... I stayed for good content ! Good job guys .
Nice😎 Fernando is the best congrats thanks for your time

Hey guys this is the best of best work I ever seen I would like to get my 2006 Sequoia worked on by you professionals

Good work guys!
Very Knowledgeable Shop and Team. I'm out of Brandon. Makes me wanna bring my Sequoia to your shop in Clearwater FL
About to do speaker replacement in my Moms '03 Sequoia - fantastic timing!
I have an 02 Sequoia with the JBL system . my whole system went out in it after 16 years and I replaced everything with kicker and pioneer
Cliff P I used 6.5 pioneer all the way around cause they came with universal brackets and my factory amp is located under my radio. I have a pioneer double din with a kicker amp

Awesome! I've always hated my Sequoia speakers..
I have a 2004 Sequoia, and want to replace the factory JBL system as you have done in this video. Can you sell me those dandy speaker spacers?
What speakers would you recommend for a 2015 Honda Pilot EXL. Great content keep it up!
This looks difficult for someone that’s never done it but Imngoing to try 03 with jbl system
Just actually ordered a w650 for my Wrangler, I know how much you guys lover Wranglers, I had been sitting on the fence about a i207 but just could not justifiy the $1k WRA kit
Hahahahaha, you unironically purchased a jeep.
Got the 650 in yesterday and its awesome
Everything I wanted and nothing I didn't need
All for 1/2 the 207 kit
I installed the Rockford p300 in a friend's 2019 mustang used the speaker level inputs and the switch for turn on is set on audio the other day his car was off and the sub was buzzing by itself.
The doors with the JBL logo on them watching you put kenwoods in it

Can i buy two of those adapters you made lol. I need that for mine!
Yes please!!!
"I'm gonna ponder that for a minute."
Translation: "I'm gonna go poop."
🤣
This would have been a cool one to do a nice 3-way setup, was it out of the budget?
Also what is the new red pry tool?
I missed this, what about midrange speakers on front doors?
Do you guys sell those custom mounts you made? I could use a pair for my 06 tundra.
How did you wire the midrange with the 4 wires
I would go with ct sounds if that was my sequoia because they make 3 way component speakers. 3 way components in front and 6.5 coaxials in the rear maybe even drill a hole into the rear door window sills and go with 2 way components so that passengers in the backseat can easily hear the highs because it's not blocked off the shin.

Why didn't use damping?
What is the "crossover" that you have connected to the tweeter?
In case anyone is wondering the yellow is positive and the red is negative on the 2" speaker. I know that because I wired it backwards, and now I know something.
Too bad the mid range speakers were not 3". You could have been able to drop in a standard 3" mid like the Audison Voce.

Are the rear speakers in in 2006 toyota tundra with JBL system connected to the amp?
Can you keep your factory amps or is suggested to remove them?
Scott Healy I have the same question. So they hooked up the new speaker to be on the same channel as the tweeter... but if the tweeter isn’t running through the amp then the new speakers wouldn’t be either.
Wonder why they didn't choose an Excelon head unit
Would have been cool if you upgraded the factory jbl speakers to the aftermarket jbl speakers to replace them !
Can i have those factory 3way pods plz i could totally use them in my tundra!
I have the exact same vehicle. Bypassing the amp what color are which speakers?
So how much did this job cost? I have a Sequoia with the same exact problem.
Anyway to add time correction to stock 2021 RAV4 non-premium system?
So that 7" midbass speaker, on a amp how low would you go on a crossover? Another question, I have KENWOOD DMX7705S and KENWOOD XR901-5, should I use the crossovers in the deck or just on the amp?

Can I buy the bracket from you guys. If so can you send me info.
I'd definitely be interested in buying brackets from you too. Get back to us.
Do you have that temet for 2003 sequoia?? I need some
Do you think this stock system was better sounding than the 2005 GMC Denali / Escaldade ESV with the BOSE Lux Sound System and the 6.5" sub in the console?
bump
Do you guys install bullet tweeters?
👍
Do you have a 2008 Ford Escape Limited speaker installation??
What is the name of the tape you guys use to wrap the wire in ?
It's TESA tape.
Fernandino 100%
Where can I get some of that 1/32 foam?

You gotta love that skin wedge :) I'm always using it haha
Crazy how old that vehicle is. Might have been better just to get a new one.
