It is so much fun knowing that the endurance predator, mammalian, omnivore heritage of the human race makes us uniquely suited for this kind of Last Stand mentality.
@@medical-cyanide1526 Character from Doctor Who, Captain Jack Harkness, namesake of The Harkness Test, which is basically the litmus test for whether or not it is okay to have sexual relations with a non-human race. @@kiritotheabridgedgod4178 yep. I'm fairly certain that this is Captain Jack Harkness before he joined the time agency went back and became a fact of the universe.
I'm sad to not know what poor Jack's last name is. It's got to be either Kirk or Harkness. That being said, never remind a human that they are the last defenders of innocent people. They'll get a good amount of motivation and hope from said reminder.

Never place your booger hook on the trigger until you are certain you need to destroy your target. 4. YOU are responsible for every round sent downrange, missed shots kill innocents.
I often tell my employees to treat electricity like a firearm. Rule one works well, always check the condition of the gun yourself every time you pick it up while always treating it as loaded.
That reminds me of something I heard once about civ 5 having to nerf the Corrielian legion since the direct stats for their tech, skill, and discipline broke the game.
Last stands may not always win the day, but they can create such havoc with the enemy as to cause him to eventually lose. Not a quote, just referring to The Alamo.
When all else fails ..Appeal to our Father. We are his true children after all,he will take his toll, as expected, but. BUT! His help is invaluable! It seems cruel, yet what choice? We refuse our last refuge, we embrace pain and suffering , not for ourselves alone, but for those who depend on us to be their shield. Its not a choice embraced lightly, yet needs must when the devil drives.
More like the tactics of the Soviet Union during WW2 that used the "Last Stand" tactic to hold off the Germans in any battle you can think of that doesn't involve shooting retreating soldiers.
A Last Stand sentiment from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: Alma 46:12-13 Book of Mormon 12 And it came to pass that he tore his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it-In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children-and he fastened it upon the end of a pole. 13 And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land-
Ah Yeah sure ahih oookkkk. If the lat stand/shield were true. The British heck any European country would have not had thier empires. Unless you are going to say the others of the world did not have the resolve and courage??
The main difference between your analogy and what was described in the story is that the Europeeans did not kill moral. What is described is essentialy "You are no longer affected by moral and can take individuals hit a bit better". When motivated, you can shrug off a handfull of gravel and some insults, not a bullet in the stomach. edit : to conclude, you can't get rid of a defending force (the last stand) with riot gear like the giant water guns (the moral damage+some lose physical damage)
Last stands don't matter when you have muskets/rifles and your targets have spears and leather/wooden shields. A last stand works when you have a well defended position, and equivalent man to man fire power. The European counties built their empires on technological superiority, better tactics and better economies.
A last stand only works when tech and manpower are similar. Europe's empires all were born out of a combination of tech superiority and larger armies. After all even if your military tech is equivalent if you've got more efficient farming you can sustain a bigger population and send a bigger proportion of it to fight. Also last stand get more powerful the easier it is for one person to kill another, after all if you shoot 4 times a minute at your best then a last stand could only allow you to hold on for a little bit as even 100 percent of you and your allies getting instant kills can only thin the enemy ranks by your current size every 15 second. But with modern weapons in a last stand each person is limited only by the number of targets they can get a good shot off on while the enemy really doesn't want to rush to their own death thus a last stand is actually more effective now than it used to be. Last stands only really worked in ancient times once you got into a sword/spear range and even then only if you were both way more skilled and had a way stronger body than all your surrounding foes, which while that allowed some individuals to take a unreasonably large number of foes with them to the afterlife it didn't actually allow large groups to take a significantly larger force with them.
Just imagined them saying that out loud and a few ptsd guys and gals in the stands just shouting back before attacking someone with cybernetics and having to be removed from the proceedings.
Not only galvanized but permanently engrained reaction that would need help Getting the last stand shut off... The "last stand" stays active until death...
Hopefully ptsd therapy and treatment will have improved by time we make it into the galactic community.
