I started cutting back in stages a few weeks ago. It’s so hard when the weather is still very pleasant. I have to remember that my future self will thank me for having a good start on the cleanup when the days turn cold and windy. Thanks to a backyard deck design 4 years ago I began evolving into a large container gardener 40 years ago. I love it so much and really enjoy your videos. Thanks!

Thank you for answering my question about what you do with your soil! ( I asked yesterday and this video was probably not in response to it) but thank you anyway! I was trying to picture what you do with the root balls and what you did( putting them in plastic bags ) is what I imagined.

Of course! I have some more videos coming soon with different things I do. Some very large root balls I'll leave in the pot over winter because they are much easier to pull in the spring.

@@ChicagoGardener i pretty much got most of the roots out and left the rest, I’ll recharge with compost and perlite like you did😊

I'm very surprised Chicago hasn't already experienced a first frost. South Carolina is scheduled to get our first frost next week.

A light weight hand cart and small tarp are my friends for moving things around and gathering the mess in one spot. Love your use of small pots.

I need to start laying down a tarp beforehand!

I've been very blessed to still be picking zinnias. I can see they are just now showing signs of powdery mildew. (zone 6 ohio)

Challenging getting ready for winter. Our love of gardening will see us though. I don’t have to do that in my zone. I wait for your posts.

@@ChicagoGardener zone 10b. I am waiting it to cool down to plant some snapdragons. It is challenging growing cut flowers in tropical climate. I do it anyway. You were my inspiration to start.

Started my fall clean up this morning. Do you have videos on overwintering dahlias?

She has more than one, and she also promised to make another one this year, when she's putting her dahlias in the garage.

I do! Definitely look at the one from 2023 bc that’s the same method I’ll be doing this year.

Amazon!! I’ll add the link to the description but it’s doesn’t come with drainage holes so I added my own with a drill.

I just pulled my wave petunias and begonias from my boxes. I'm putting in some crane red ornamental kale. I was wondering I still have two butterfly bushes, a tuff stuff hydrangea, and a abelia in pots. When should I bring them in to my enclosed porch? I am in New York zone 6b.
