Thanks Terry for another great video. American BBs were one of the first lines I tried, but I gave up when I got to the horrible North Carolina. I've recently revisited various tiers 7,8 & 9 for the battle honours copper and steel and cleaned them all up in a few weeks with the exception of NC. And there, well, three weeks has moved me on from 13 to 17 cruisers. Recall why I gave up, but this shows there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Sometimes we aren’t the star of the show but you tipped the balance for teammates dualing and it makes a huge difference for the team. Like helping the Zao so he could help you later.
Every ship class has its role, and every ship in that class has its individual strengths. The more things a ship can do, the better I like her, since I probably play the majority of my games in random battles. In the Iowa, I can reposition quickly, she can take a couple of hits (more than NC), she can lend AA support, brawl a DD in a pinch, sustain being on fire, and the longer guns are actually pretty nice. So yeah, drawing fire from Monty away from Takao and towards me was intentional, since I knew there was a DD around. CV has done the right thing as well with the early scout and doubling-down on Monty. Iowa can tank pretty well, looking forward to Monty myself now.

I enjoy playing my Iowa, I regularly do 60k damage in it (I'm a DD main). One battle I managed to citadel a Bismarck at long range, which was surprising. The Montana is even better in my opinion. It's basically an Iowa with 3 more guns. Also thanks for the tips in your videos, they really do help
I'm only at T8 so my only experience of Iowa is teammates. When I sink I tend to find Iowa aaaall the way at the back. Usually behind a rock. Or gently sailing around the edge of the map.

Iowa and Missouri are hard to play aggressively, they have poor protection but great maneuverability, so islands are the best friends of T9 US BBs (and CAs). Agree with that range module. Without range T9 BB has no chance against sth like a Yamato, which has up to 16.4km...
The 50-calibre length guns are great, and in reality, Iowa's 406mm shells had similar penetration to Yamato's: "This heavier projectile made these guns nearly the equal in terms of penetration power to the 46 cm (18.1") guns of the Japanese Yamato class battleships, yet they weighed less than three-quarters as much." navweaps.com/Weapons/WNUS_16-50_mk7.php
I don't yet own an Iowa, because I've largely avoided the US BB line due to their slowness from the start through tier 7. But I own a Colorado, and I'll eventually start playing the damn thing at some point! 🤔 I'm a bit confused by your choice of module in slot 1. You chose the Artillery Plotting module that increases the range of ALL your guns. Just prior to pointing it out, you said that you prefer to play the Iowa aggressively, and that its guns aren't accurate at max ranges. Those 2 realities would seem to conflict with that particular choice of module. Considering how you described your preferred play style, combined with the Iowa's sub par accuracy at long ranges, should maybe dissuade an Iowa user from choosing that particular module(??)
Sorry if that was a bit unclear. I used the plotting room module to extend range, such that if I'm in T10 games and have to sit back a bit, I have more range to work with, even though it's not the most accurate. Also, I didn't pick the range elite bonus, so this module compensates for that choice. I prefer to play at closer ranges of maybe 8-9km, but don't always have that option, hence this setup. It's a multi-role / damage-over-time tank setup, which plays into her AA support role. If, for example, you'd say you'd always play her at max range, probably use precision, acceleration and steering, and the range elite bonus. Viable build, just not my style, since it somewhat neglects her support strengths, and that's where I see USN ships shine the most.

Last night, I bought and fully upgraded my Sinop, played 2 AI games, then hit the random battle button. Within 2 minutes I was off to the right side alone, when a tier 8 destroyer popped out from a small island 2kms in front of me, where I didn't expect him, and my bow was facing him. Suddenly I had him cruising down my right side, dumping torps into me, but my guns were on the opposite side. I had 2 teammates 5-7kms away, but my hull was blocking them from firing at the destroyer. Then I became a target for 2 other enemy ships maybe 7kms ahead of me. I died about 1min later, with 17k damage in Sinop game 1.
Ah, sounds like a classic drive-by. Yeah, those happen, not much you can do. Something I often do, when faced with random teams, is to pick someone to support. Let's say I'm in a cruiser, it's a domination map, and I spawn with a DD. I'll go with the DD to provide air cover, firepower against other DDs we might encounter, and I can draw battleship fire to give my DD a better chance at torping. If I'm in a battleship, I can tank, but I rely on my team a bit, so I try not to get separated early on. But again, I can do things like get in front of my cruisers and draw fire. In a DD, you have the most freedom. You can still support your team by spotting, cap control, and there are some very good pairings, like a PanAsian DD with a light cruiser. I can light up enemy DDs with radar, they have the dpm to take them down quickly. They can draw fire from battleships, I can line up torps. Stuff like that. It comes down to knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your ship, and seeing what you can do to compensate.

The percentage of battles my fleet/team mates use Discord is very easy to compute.... It's 0%. 👍Obviously, real-time verbal communication would be very useful for doing the type of specific cooperation you mentioned. But I'm having difficulty finding players/fleets who are devoted to Discord.
Have you tried the black Iowa by any chance? The speed boost and sonar would seem like nice additions, and the Black Iowa in the shipyard seems tempting to start training a captain for when I eventually get around to grind one of the US BB lines. But 45 steel and titanium seems a bit much…
iowa is the best of the T9 battleships, i quite enjoyed her back then when i had her despite being a very questionable player in the past with the montana you gain extra firepower and tankiness in exchange for manuverability montana i would say is right in the middle of the T10 BB spectrum, ahead of GK and conquerer but behind yammy and repub

It's a viable build, but doesn't match my style. I might do a video comparing the two, since it seems to be the more canonical one, and I don't want to end up confusing people.
Asian server seem to be worst players lol On eu server we have siemka noobs like in tanks that go brainafk on weekends .. on north america there doesnt seem to be much in terms of people know what they doing either.. 3-4 good fleets rest is less then bots 😂
Loved my Iowa so much i bought her historical camo!! Now its soooo much better, and its a good silver earning ship for me!

With Rapid Reload level 1 you should activate the reload booster at about 3 seconds to get two salvos from the same boost
With RR2 that time is about 6 seconds, with RR3 that time is about 12 seconds
Those are the timings without the master reloader skill, right?

To date the only T9 ship that hadn't had me raging in world chat and on discord about the quality of T9 games

I remember that battle I think, but no, I didn't record it. I had HE loaded, I think it was a 3 DD game, so cruiser mode it was :)

NC is good at PC vertion wows game, in blitz its like swiss cheese for other ships. Unfortunetly its my main battleship. Im going slowly for Iowa.
I really enjoy the Iowa so far, she's fast and can take a bit more of a hit.
