9° will get you the 54° angle needed with the jig . And do not glue the round deck if your saw , here is a revised version of video , ruclips.net/video/hvD6bWp553Q/видео.htmlsi=lgB-FU9CpfXXYqg2
Great video and love all the jigs. A question, from someone who works out of a tiny backyard garden shed, about combining the tenon jig and the miter spline jig… could you combine them to be miter splint on one side and then flip it 180 and tenon on the other side? I am VERY LIMITED on space so anything that saves space is a plus. Thanks for sharing!
Trying to get my head around making different sized stars. Is it just a case of calculating the ratios of long versus short sides? Does the angle change? Might have to go play with some cardboard.
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing. The jig for the angles out of range is perfect. But speaking about these angles, I got a little bit confused. it seemed to me, that you mentioned (except for the 36 degree angle) two other degrees of angles ( 57 degrees at 1:46 , 54 degrees at 2:05 and at 3:39 ) , but it seems that you use only the 54 degrees angle. Or not?
Thanks Bearded Viking Wood Works for the great tutorial!!! I've made and gave away many of these, they bring so much joy to people! Any chance you can make a taller one, or explain how to make a taller one (with the miter cuts, ect.) Thank You!!!!
Angles stay the same but numbers will clearly change , I’d have to build one to see the math incvolved not sure if it would be equal equations for each measurement
I like this, especially the fix for a mitre without a 54 degree capability. You need to show the finished individual pieces after they've been. Also might consider a closer angle. I can see that what is obvious to you isn't that clear to beginners like me.
Do you have my lap top bugged ? My old neighbor called me the other day and asked if i could make these for her. Saw this video and my miter saw only goes to 48 degrees, and this looks like an easier way than making a jig. thank you again brother
Wow! This looks awesome! But I can't get mine to work. I think my problem is in where I chose to mark and make the cut. Could you get a bit more detailed on making that mark and cut.....up close, so we can see the mark and the cut? This would help a LOT! Thanks so much!

@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks im not sure i understand i tried to make a smalller one and subtracted 3 inch from the 10 3/8 and the 5 1/2 and the star dosent look right
@ I’m not sure I’d have to take a run at making a different size , sorry about that , when I get to the shop Tuesday I’ll take a shot at it and let ya know
Yes I’m aware . Can’t fix it in the video once it’s posted : but thanks , I put this star in my latest compilation video where I addressed that . Skål 🫡
Hey buddy, do you listen to your videos?? Cause when you were talking about how to use a 45-degree cut during Star video, you need to tell your viewers not to put CA glue on the miter saw turn table, or it won't turn. Next, you said , "Put your miter at 12 degrees to make a 57-degree cut," and then after you cut it, you said there, you have it 54 degrees. Very confusing . For beginners, it is very confusing

Dude!! That was the best, simplest explanation of cutting angles for stars I have ever seen. You are the Rock Star!!
Thanks brother ‘ skäl 🫡
Another awesome project thx for sharing enjoyed it Keep building God Bless
Indeed and thanks
Great tip for adapting for the angle cut! I needed a 70 on a table leg, and this would have been perfect!
Awesome job! Easy to follow along!
Thanks for watching ! And commenting ! 😁
Anyone that ever thought they'd never need geometry needs to see this video. Another excellent tutorial, thank you!
Yes sir thanks brother !
Looked simple to build!! Great job! You get a star!
😀
Best trick to make those acute angles, especially when you told us to stack the 1x4s for a taller jig.
Thanks bro 🫡
the best "how to make a star" Ive found in RUclips! Thanks
Absolutely thank you for watching and engaging with my content ! You’re a rock star 💫
Love the content as always.
Thanks so much
Nice easy informative video thanks.
You’re very welcome ! My pleaseure
Great job!
Thank you
Great video. Gonna try making a few of these. Have a lot of pallet wood so it will give them a rustic look.
Sweeeeet !! Thanks for tuning in
Excellent video! The trick for getting the angle without being able to go to 54 degrees!
Thanks
😢exelent job good video im going to make one star thanks
Sweet
Great video!
Thanks so much

Well it would sort of interfere with the type of clamps that I own , but I’m sure if you have different sort of clamps you could

Ooops , yep 54° is correct sorry about that 🤦🏻♂️
I was scratching my head already with that one Jijiji thanks
Do you share the kerf on your mark or do you place it on either side of your mark?
I always cut to the right of my mark leaving half the line
Thanks Bearded Viking Wood Works for the great tutorial!!! I've made and gave away many of these, they bring so much joy to people! Any chance you can make a taller one, or explain how to make a taller one (with the miter cuts, ect.) Thank You!!!!
I will do my best to get to it soon my friend
@@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks Thank you very much, I'm eagerly awaiting, SKOL!!!

awesome. god bless.
God bless
can it work with fence pickets
Sure can

😞 sorry about that , I’ll show it better next timd
Only problem is that length doesn't work with the iig
@@elliesampson5893 what is iig?
Hi is it a 54 or 57 degree cut? Thanks
54 sorry about that
Thanks for clearing that up. Really enjoy your videos. You spend a lot of time and effort to get a video out and I appreciate it.
I want to make a star 18 inches tall. how long should my pieces be?
Now if I did all that for ya , you’d never learn ,
Think im gonna make a "Shit Ton of these". Thank you for all of your time and efforts on our behalf!

Does anyone know if this works with thicker timber or is it only 1” thick timber.?
It works with any size thickness . 🫡
What if i need to make different sizes of stars
Just subtract or add equal numbers from the measurements given
@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks im not sure i understand i tried to make a smalller one and subtracted 3 inch from the 10 3/8 and the 5 1/2 and the star dosent look right

The angles are 54 NOT 57 degrees 6:04

guy lee hun. go by him every day.
Where abouts ??
@@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks Your shirt states Mt Pleasant, SC ?
@ this is where I have lived my whole life
You first said 57 degrees (set at 12 degrees because of the 45 jig. Then you said 54 degree.
You said 54 degree after the cut, but you said you set it at 57 degree which one is it?
Nvm you said 54 again so it must be that
Yes sorry about the mix up , I didn’t catch it before I published the video . But yes it’s a 54
I wish I understood this. Looks great but the measurements make no sense go me
