@Sean Quirke Hi there, are you the owner of this video? My Granny lived in Meentahalla in Donegal, and she attended Illies School, she's now 95!. I'm a University student in my final year and I'm looking to make a film about her and British Heart Foundation is my client. I was wondering if I would be able to get permission by the owner of the video to use a couple of clips from the video? All the best, Lewis
We would be taken up to see where my grandmother taught, with Mrs Mc Dermott and others. When she retired the class all paid for a gold lid sugar bowl, which we still have, as my father paid in too. I do know she had a run in with a particular priest, her name was Jane Kelly and she stood her ground on the issue, which was quite brave. My Dad, his siblings, cousins et al would attend class and we'd hear about the horse & cart. They rarely got on the cart, most lifts went to the adults when my Grandmother was heading back to Buncrana. (she had moved down to the town) This film brings many of the stories to life. Conveys the bustle, if not the weather conditions frequently challenging students getting to and from class.
