    In Episode 139 of the No Limitations podcast Last Man Standing, Blenheim Partners’ Gregory Robinson speaks to Col. Douglas Macgregor (ret.), Former Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense.
    In a thought-provoking discussion, which will no doubt generate significant debate, Douglas provides a commentary on the state of leadership in the wider world today. He turns to the major flashpoints across the globe, and he assesses the rapidly escalating conflict between Israel and other parties in the Middle East and the Russian war with Ukraine, sharing his perspective as someone who has endured the horrors and futility of war. Douglas also evaluates the likelihood of an act of aggression by China against its immediate neighbours such as Taiwan in the South China Sea. Returning to the United States, Douglas emphasises the need for cultural unity and the successful assimilation of new waves of immigration into mainstream society. He also touches on the need to act decisively to reduce the burgeoning government debt and the possibility of emerging nations embracing bitcoin to curb the influence of the United States dollar.
    Douglas was first commissioned into the United States Army in 1976. During his 28 years of service, he was a leader of the 1st Squadron 4th Cavalry, the 1999 Kosovo Air Campaign, the Battle of 73 Easting during the Gulf War, and the offensive into Baghdad in 2002. By the time of his retirement in 2004, Douglas was a decorated veteran with several awards for meritorious service, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. More recently, Douglas was the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense, a position he held until then-President Trump left office. Douglas has written several books on military operations which have been the catalyst for profound changes in defense strategy in the United States and abroad. Douglas has also appeared as a defense analyst on Fox News, CNN, BBC, Sky News and public radio.

    As a singaporean, i will say you are correct. We do not want the western style of democracy. Many of us find it too unstable and many short term policies are implemented. The fact is we want to be left alone, and trade with the west. Go on holiday to the west. But most of us are perfectly comfortable here.

    The last part of this video is also true. Chinese military people are very humble. We know we are not ready and it takes time to build up and improve. The Chinese army has a lot of respect to the American forces (but the American forces have no respect to the Chinese). Deep in our heart we know we are not better equipped and trained. This humbleness is essential to improve. American forces think they are great at all time. This arrogance will cost them eventually. They really think China is Saddam forces - just send in the tanks and walk all over us..... Americans are thinking about how to attack China everyday, and the Chinese only think about how to make money thru trade. American's DNA is war war and war, and Chinese are trade trade and trade.

    You are mostly right about the Chinese. But for the last part about Japan , they are not the same Japanese as in World War Two. They are much weaker in mind and even physically. Their whole weapon system depends on US supply. Chinese don’t think they are their match. Japanese knows that too. Besides this island country has less people they can use. Many medium cities are empty now. They don’t have human and financial resources to go to war with China.

    What most in the West fail to understand about justice over there in Asia, is that those are Confucian cultures whether they admit it or not. A Confucian culture educate the young from day one to be obedience not only to the state, but to the family, the schools, the culture, the local grocery store. It's not the people don't have backbones, but they intrinsically understand unity is power. If the people is not unified, sht hits the fan real fast, to say nothing of revitalizing a nation, alleviating the poor, or fighting off the Americans. That's why having 98 or 99% conviction rate is not a sign of injustice... by the time you get hauled off to the court, you are probably already considered to be one of those elements (usually criminal) that the society rejects. From the Chinese POV, the American idea of justice or electoral government is one of pure chaos and PTSD nightmares.... and I can't blame them.

    • @lzl4226
      @lzl4226 5 дней назад

      @@justinhogue9861 I don't necessarily trust the 5% figure. However, if anything, I think it's possible that this figure is being understated. I live in China so maybe I can see what's happening a little better. There's been a mass closure of shops after covid, but an increase in online shopping. The variety of goods you can get online has increased, the cost of some goods, including food has even dropped slightly. So they've basically channeled those people back into production industries. I can see people going out and spending money, engaging in leisure activities. Domestic tourism has been booming. Those are not signs of a failing economy. I would say there's been a very strong bounce back in the past year. The other thing I would mention is that China is currently trading a lot outside of the USD. I don't know how much but by outgoing shipping numbers, it's possible that close to 50% of the goods traded are outside of the western financial system. They'd want to keep the exact figures more or less a secret, so there is an incentive to understate somewhat.

    High guilty rate but low prosecution rate may mean 1) fewer frivolous usage of the court resources 2) more equality - can’t buy a not guilty judgement by hiring high power lawyers. 3) China’s criminal law code is still in a developmental stage (perhaps deliberately).

Can Japanese ships withstand supersonic missiles or thousands of drones attack. And why US navy stayed away when Philippines and Chinese had confrontations in South China Sea. I'm sure 10 years ago US navy would stay in the South China sea instead of sailed away to avoid the conflicts .

    Mr. Mr. MacGregor: I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the American political class.
    In the beginning of this video, you ask: "What is of critical importance to us?". You mean what is of critical importance to regular people like you and I. And you are correct in saying "free passage of ships and commerce."
    The problem is that the thing of critical importance to the American political class is to tell others how to live their lives. Telling others to do this or that gives them more pleasure than sex plus drugs. And you want them to give up the most powerful narcotics?

    Colonel got the general introverted and inner focused nature of Chinese/CN right, also Asians prefer order/stability and prosperity on top of it.
    What he said about Chinese economy is completely unfounded, Chinese banks are fine--he should go find some vlogs of Western travelers in China so he can have an idea of how CN economy is going.
    Also he has no idea about Japanese navy. If Japan dares to fight China again, China will flatten them--35mil Chinese died b/c of Japanese invasion from 1931 to 1945, Japanese mass murdered 300,000 ppl in Nanking in the most cruel fashion, it used Chinese as live test subject/specimen for its virus war with its notorious 731 Unit, JP committed all kind of inhuman war crimes. And they insist on honoring their class A war criminals and refuse to apologize in a genuine and sincere sense like the Germans.
    Japanese imperialist war crimes are still fresh wounds in Asia--among the countries Japan abused, at least most Chinese want to revenge (despite CN gov has been the rational one to keep the lid on) . Chinese are peace-loving and war averse people, but wouldn't hesitate to revenge at all.
