Mr. IGP, in your speech you indicated that your department has very good lawyers. Did you seek for legal advice from your lawyers before coming out to make a declaration. I would like to know if currently there is a law against insulting our elders. Back then we cannot even talk back at our elders when they were talking to us as kids. If currently there is no law against hauling insults at our elders then police time and resources will be wasted because you will have no case against the person who hauled insults at our elders. Question, would your department handle insults fairly and not one sided even though you said without favour. POLITICAL AFFILIATION WOULD NOT MATTER, CORRECT. Thank you for your briefing.
Will be interesting to see how IGP Seedy Muhtarr Touray will stop the insults, the speech was outstanding and ambitious but the lack of police independence will make it impossible to implement fairly what the law says, the police should uphold and enforce the law but that's impossible in the Gambia due to executive interference, the police is mostly seen serving individuals instead of serving the state, that's the problem
The crime rate is off the scale throughout the length and breath of the country ,secure the nation,keep people safe on the street and in their homes,Discipline your officers ,they not above the law, corruption is rampant in the force,they can't even recover a lost phone ,charging the public 500 dalasis to recover a phone in which case the phone is not even recovered.Shame on this force ,I have seen better days in the force.
These government need to go back to resolve those commisions established by the national assembly to be able to reform and standardize our government policies.thus are theme or subject matter to resolve the problems of this country.
