I have a pair of Lowa hiking boots, and last week while hiking in Norway the soles of both boots started to fall off within 15 minutes of each other. At the end the soles were only attached at the tip of the boot. No matter what the cause of the problem, the manufacturer is responsible and ought to replace a faulty product. If they use a material that is inapropriate for the purpose (of hiking once or twice a year), they should not use that material. Period. Do yourself a favour and find a boot producer that does not use PU in their midsoles. It's crap. I will not buy Lowa again!
I moved to lowa Zephyr's from salomons for my duty boots a few years ago, wouldn't go back they are fantastic.

Zephyr MK2 are cool. I own a pair but I still love my Salomon Quest 4D Gtx.
