Unexpected Encounters with Local Drivers While Trucking

.With the urban trailer on the artic we head off for a couple of farms and 1 new build site on this bright Tuesday morning.Our first drop was in Hawick but a migraine means i didn't catch the drop,after that were off to Jedburgh for our first farm where a car driver decides she doesn't want to reverse so i have to do it with a blind corner behind me:( We eventually find our delivery point and all goes well,after this we head to South Queensferry for a Cala new build before heading over the Queensferry crossing to Dunfermline for our last drop.A long reverse along a really tight lane to site only to find out i could've just driven in head first as there is room to turn around.

It's mad how many people reverse round a corner for their test then never do it again 😂
I've met some drivers who's skills wouldn't see them pass again, not by a long shot!
A few weeks ago on a single track road I reversed a mile so a middle aged woman didn't have to reverse around a corner 😂
They keep adding stuff the the car test that doesn't seem to be making better drivers...when i sat my test you didn't have all this route planning stuff etc but it wasn't that long after they phased out doing advanced driving/skid pad for taxi drivers police etc etc which, i think, was one of the best things you could teach someone who's going to drive, how to not panic in an emergency or scary situation.
I grew up in the sticks outside Pitlochry on the road to Glenshee, started driving in fields when i was 10 years old.
The road to the local shops is a far cry from what most people learned to drive on, A road national speed limit but there's no white lines up the middle in some places for a mile or more, some people get confused and think this means single track, had some scary encounters over the years with people taking blind bends and crests in the middle or on the wrong side of the road...
Driving excessively slowly is another one that you'd fail your driving test on, but i see that regularly, 20-30mph in a 60 road with no inclination to let quicker vehicles by..
When i was driving tractors over that road, thats the speed I'd go

oh wow haha,i love readin wee stories like that.I think alot of the bad driving is actually coming from instructors themselves,i tought my daughter to drive then asked her to get an instructor to learn the test routes and make sure i hadnt given her any bad habits,they instructor dismissed a few major things i'd tought her that i deemed a life saving habit (don't bother looking in your blindspot,just use your mirror's).And i've seen several instructors alone in cars failing epicly at basic driving knowledge!
