Howard Wolowitz and the Squeaky Floor Conundrum | THE BIG BANG THEORY
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 окт 2017
- Howard, Raj and Bernadette are trying to figure out what to do about the squeaky floorboards in Howard's old bedroom, which now belongs to his infant daughter, Halley. No solution proves exactly fruitful, but it's fun to watch, isn't it? Plus, we get to see Howard sing "If I Were a Rich Man" from the Broadway favorite "Fiddler on the Roof".

Three genius minds don’t think to move the crib close to the door.
that wouldn´t be as entertaining
Also I feel like genius Minds have a habit of looking over the most simplest outcomes
@@chase2527 that is because they are going about it in fixed logical pattern. instead of a lateral solution.
My first thought
The much more practical solution is to do nothing.
If you always insist on complete and total silence when putting a baby to sleep, then they will only be able to sleep when it is completely silent.
Much more helpful to the baby, and your sanity, if you let the baby learn how to sleep with noise. I'm not saying to bang pots and pans while the kid is being laid down, but you need to teach the kid stuff since they literally know nothing. Learning how to sleep in spite of innocuous noises is a good skill to have. Best for them to learn it as soon as possible because those kinds of tolerances get set early in life.
That glowing tape is actually a badass decoration choice for the floor.
No it isn't if you had a purpose for it, maybe
@@yalc-04 there is a purpose to it. It marks where the squeaky parts of the floor are.
Its a lot cheaper than a nightlight
Unless it’s wildly carcinogenic.
@@yalc-04 Even without a actual purpose it's still really cool.
I mean, in this world there are so many useless things that aren't really useful in any situation still people loves them and will buy them even if they are never going to use them in their life.
I like how Sheldon is a third wheel to Leonard and Penny while Raj is the thirdwheel for Howard and Bernadette
@Mr. Imcircle -- Just curious then...Does that make Stuart the third wheel between Howard and Howard's mom?! :D :) LOL
He's more the third wheel of a tricycle
Sheldon has a wife.
So who would be a third wheel to Sheldon & Amy?
@@snapclub8751 Leonard
Okay the glow in the dark paint was pretty cool!
Got that idea from Sheldon's apartment "evacuation procedure in the dark"
Might be a health hazard for a baby who spends most of their time in that room though.
But definitely cool, yes.
Glow in the dark tape
Aaaaaaaaaaaand pretty dumb at the same time.
@@swiperfox3145 But remember Sheldon later found out that the glow in the dark arrows he put down on his apartment floor were very carcinogenic and thus very dangerous.
For anyone wondering, floor squeaks can often be fixed with baby powder.
thank you!!! (but what do you do? just sprinkle it between the floorboards?)
@@B501M Yes. Hard to do if there are floor coverings or the floor is newly finished and there are no gaps. Might help to use a vibrator to help work it into the cracks. Powdered graphite will also do the job, maybe even better but will stain anything it comes in contact with
Really? I had no idea. I should mention that to my dad since we have hardwood floors in the house.
Honestly thought that was where they were going with this. They they'd identify where the sqeaks were to apply babypower... only to realize it was the whole floor and end up with a room that looked like a blizzard hit it.
Don't some have abestos in them?
Bernadette's idea
howard: is that supossed to be funny?
Raj: hold on ........... Yeah that's funny 🤣🤣🤣
I'm so glad they showed us that idea.
LOL! Howard's Comet! 😂😂😂😂🌠🌠🌠🌠
Howard doesn't go ti his thinking pose and we think we'll miss it... then Raj saves the day and shows us.
What about teleportation?😂😂😂🥴🥴🥴🤕🤕
@@opalfaith3221 that gave me a better idea a jetpack
@@opalfaith3221 nope
Teleportation destroys the initial person and restructures an exact copy of the person within the current laws of physics.
A better idea would be to create a wormhole so that Howard can walk instantaneously from his bedroom to Halley’s within two steps…or just move the crib.
"If I were a rich man"!!!! God I freaking love that song and Howard nailed it lol
@Mistake Maker nope the song is from fiddler on the roof

I love that song so Much!! XD
Just more proof that Howard is the funniest in this show.
I laugh everytime at that part
People say Big Bang Theory has lost its way but I actually quite like this with the familiar characters dealing with new problems is called evolution plus Howard has just really come into his own as a character
the show is funny but by no means nerdy
@@avarma6313 because the show doesn't intent to stereotype nerds all the time.
@@jamirimaj6880 so they turned nerd into retards that work in a university.
They are talking about fixing a squeaky floor- in the early episodes, they drove cars on Mars.
But yeah, this is much better 😒
But this isnt even a problem. The floorboards didnt even squeak that much, just walk on them. Most of the jokes were cringe.
Howard is a great actor.

Lol. Changing the room the baby is in or move the Crib closer to the door will solve the problem.
crib next to the easiest square.. MIT n this level of work ? its more like a middle school kids fun with room
That's what engineering is. You make a complex process for creating simplest things.
The sad thing is I didn't even think of that myself 😂😴
Oh shit. I fell into that one too. I have three kids, and i hate baby crying. Also, i am an ENGINEER!!
that's how you get big amount of budget :)
I think the show would've even been more hilarious if they had more scenes like this where their inventions or experiments goes wrong lol. I laughed pretty hard seeing how Howard was imagining himself in all these scenarios and getting injured lol.
I love Howard's expressions as Raj says "What if you didn't step on the floor at all", as if he is thinking "This is gonna suck" before he even hears the suggestions.
Make the squares smaller so you can navigate easier and more precisely.
its the only logical solution
Adam Anderson his squares mapped out each different panel, the panels as a whole were squeaky so those squares are the minimum size they could be. Panels are squeaky due to lose and uneven fittings, therefor one particular spot in a panel will have the same effect as any other spot on that same panel, kind of like balancing a flat board on a nail, no matter where u push down it’s going to tilt in that direction, Ie. no matter where u stand it’s going to squeak.
A_Ditto572 are you sure? They don't look like panels, it looks more like an arbitrary pattern.
That’s what I thought
@TechnoCube -- Yeah, bigger problem; I think I felt something POP! Howard's last scene comment to Raj.

"Turn the theme from the Walking Dead into a lullaby"

That last scene was pure comedy gold. Howard’s obstacle course to the crib combined with Bernadette‘s last line had me cracking up.
If U listen right as Howard does that big split and he breaths out, I heard a pop he might really hurt himself
um wut
I lost it when Howard began singing "If I Were A Rich Man".
Its like a Family Guy sketch...
But at least they don't go on for too long.
@@Nameless82284 Yup, lol.
He could built a bridge over the noisy squares and towards the crib
No
lol just move the crib to the right hand side of the door
hainsay y not. He would be walking over the bad squares and it would be cheaper
Orrrr he could just move the crib closer to the door to avoid all that
faiz abbas
How about just roll himself all over the room with a decent rolling chair.
I love this scene so much lol, crazy that 12 seasons in they find ways to still make it frickin hilarious!

1:18 weeeeee
1:38 woops

1:59 ahhhh
I have an idea to fix this:
Have the door swing outwards, and then put together another layer of flooring that doesn’t squeak. Have it raised slightly, and add a ramp just in case they need bring a baby stroller into the room
Party pooper
Or, get this, live with the squeaks.
Is not that bad, if you csnt pay it then live with it
I'm not used to there being physical comedy on this show but they do deliver 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Howard getting injured is always funny
How about NOT WEARING SHOES IN THE HOUSE!
u can still have a squeaky floor while wearing socks or no socks, its happened to me before
how about you learn a little bit of physics
OR moving the furniture. Even if you went with their odd idea of "avoiding squeaky squares" i clearly see a path that involves NO jumping and stretching across the room, it only requires that they move the furniture around. Actually there may still NOT be a clean path but at least there's a higher chance of one if you use ALL the square instead of needlessly blocking out like 10 squares.
Unless your shoes add another 30 kg to your total weight, taking them off won't do much.
so good
howard needs to be cast more. brilliant actor
He's an MIT trained engineer, couldn't he somehow create a conveyor belt like system, or would that be even more expensive than replacing the floor
It would really help make an easier path if they mapped out the squeaks with 1/2 foot square's. I'm certain that the squeaks are not an entire square foot big
Honestly, Howard was the best part of this Show.
2:56 best dance ever
Wolowitz: If I were a rich man lol fiddler on the roof
3:00 gives me serious Alfred molina doc oc vibes from Spider-Man 2 set video 😂
Well, he did play Tevye at one point, so…
that fiddler on the roof reference tho, gotta love it!!
Nails will only make more squeaks over time. You have to find exactly, or close to which square nail (or just nail) is moving and screw the board down in that spot.
A smaller sample size of the squares would have been more precise. Also the grid on the board is off, it is missing a row at the top.
People: Big Bang Theory is just about making fun of nerds for saying something vaguely scientific
Big Bang Theory:
If you screw the boards instead of nailing it wont make any noise
Well (cough), screwing is what got him into this mess to begin with. But that aside, moving the crib just to the right of the door would fix the problem without - you know - fixing the problem.
yes and it was a shitty carpenter who laid that floor
@@mikemesser4326 you do know that nailing and screwing are BOTH euphemisms for sex, right?
@@jamesbizs Of course.
@@jamesbizs It takes many nails to build a crib, but only one screw to fill it.
"Mind and hand", eh?
Confucius say, "Man who go to sleep with problem on mind wake up with solution in hand." :D

Only one of millions great Howard moments. “Bigger problems......I felt something pop!” First time I saw this, I really expected to hear his pants split.
"Bigger problem; I felt something popping" Hats off, Howard!
1:57 I almost fell out of my bed laughing at this.
None of them academics could figure out that the reason the floor was squeaking was because the floor was sagging? Simple fix: Just place a shim between the support beams and the floor, and the squeak goes away. It's a house they own, so they certainly can get access from the flooring to the beams to place the shims.
"Gotta get her hooked on TV or she'll want me to play outside." This will be my parenting one day :P
0:46 omg howard's finger ☹
This is pretty good writing 😂 It actually reminds me a lot like stuff that Rob and Sally and Buddy would write on the Dick Van Dyke show for The Alan Brady show. I kinda wonder if that's where the writers got their inspiration from? Or the writers had a squeaky floor problem. 😄

It’s always fun to see some slapstick 😂
Okay, the first two scenarios were in Howard’s head but why was Raj imagining Howard doing it instead of himself? Is Howard just a Engineering crash test dummy to the others?
Yes. But also cause Bernidette suggested Howard do it so of course you picture the person it was suggested for.
I love the lullaby part on here this morning that Raj said
3:40 okay. That stretch was indeed amazing 😎
1:11 the funniest part of this episode.
Agreed
He could use a very heavy carpet, that would force the floor down. If it can’t move it can’t squeak.
I think the pulley would work. He is light enough. And he add extra ropes to spread his weight
Yeah that’s what I was thinking!
Also, I know it’s television, but what kind of material is the house made up of when a guy who looks like he’s less than 125 pounds causes himself to fall from the ceiling?
I could watch this all day
move the crib, perhaps?
Yeah 😂😂😂
I’ve heard the “Walking Dead” theme it’s pretty good; despite its minor key it could work as lullaby music
