  • High Time | Hannah Rothschild in conversation with Claire Armitstead
Author, filmmaker and philanthropist Hannah Rothschild captures the world of high art and finance in her new novel High Time. The narrative tracks the journey of Ayesha Scott as she navigates the underbelly of the art world encountering crooked financiers and backstreets swindlers to retain her wealth and reputation. In conversation with Guardian literary editor Claire Armitstead, Rothschild discusses her latest work as a critique of the wealthy and delves into the art of writing social satire.
Hannah Rothschild is an author, filmmaker, philanthropist, and businesswoman. Her first novel The Improbability of Love was shortlisted for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction and won the Everyman Wodehouse prize for comic fiction. Her second novel House of Trelawney was runner-up for the Everyman Wodehouse. The first woman to chair London’s National Gallery, she was awarded a CBE for services to literature and philanthropy.
Claire Armitstead is Associate Editor (Culture) for the Guardian. Her previous roles include Arts Editor, Literary Editor and Head of Books. She writes across the Guardian and its sister paper, The Observer, and is a member of the leader team, with responsibility for culture.
