If I understand correctly, their stage personas are supposed to be vampiric werewolf paladins, so it's less Cats and more Dogs but the style parallels are probably deliberate.

"Undead Pavarotti" sounds like a pretty on-point description of Attila!! xD

The riff is soooo freaking good, the 2 back to back solos are great and the whole thing is as catchy as all Powerwolf songs :D

The chorus is catchy as hell. Can't wait for the new album. I've been a long time Powerwolf fan. The keyboardist's stage name is Falk Maria Schlegel. They all have stage names. The lead singer is Attila Dorn. The guitarist is Matthew Greywolf. The bassist is Charles Greywolf and the drummer is Roel Van Helden. The music gets written by and has input from all the band members. They don't actually plan anything out, according to Matthew they spontaneously come up with songs and bounce them back and forth between the members adding bits and pieces and it is a very organic process.
Also religious werewolves crossed with vampires is pretty much their aesthetic. Matthew said on the first album that it was like a satanist in the vatican and that the band has a morbid fascination with the Roman Catholic church.

Actually the Keyboardist is Christian Jost - he uses a Stage name like all the rest do.

Karsten Brill (also known as his Stage Name Atilla Dorn) can sing from operatic to belting and raspy vocals like screaming. He is a baritone. He received classical vocal training by a vocal coach Francesco Cottone in Saarbrücken, Germany.

The keyboardist/organist really loves to ham it up for these music videos and is often the most entertaining part of them, haha. Maybe that's why they shine the spotlight on him so often!

the organist (Falk Maria Schliegel) makes a perfect majordomo/chaffeur for the vampire .. even with minimum makeup he has mastered the creepy look perfectly, he's my favorite of the band

powerwolf is such an amazing band. Especially when you get to see them live. They are among the top in interacting with their audience. I have never sung, jumped, kneel or shouted as much as with their live sets. Attila Dorn (vocals) is definitely one of the most charismatic male vocals in metal and Falk Maria Schlegel (organs, keyboard) is such a character on stage that you cannot but love him and what he and the whole band does. I really recommend you check some of the live stuff out too to get a climbs of what they can do. Armata Strigoi is a really good one to check out!

      I love Armate Strigoi live!
It's so much f* fun at the concerts!
But to really appreciate it you have to experiance the prelude to it - aka Attila coaching the audiance how to sing the parts 😂

The keyboardist is the guy who takes care of all the organization and management stuff for the band and likes to hype up the crowd at concerts when he can so that might be why he seems important to the band.

The make up especially on the guitarist is actually how they always do it. For live shows and videos. It's not just for this video

    Not quite cats :)
    They roleplay as Werewolf-Vampire-Priests
Edit: Darn, you cut off the outro which, IMO, sounds even more epic!

Awesome reaction! Also just want to mention that theres no bass player in the band, just a singer, drummer, keyboardist, and 2 guitars.

You said Chicago when I was thinking Ragtime. Your mash-up analogy at the end was on it; wonder if you could include Dirty Dancing in that list? LOL!
Seriously thought, I'm diggin this Powerwolf road of discover with you.

Speaking about "new" artists, Napalm Records just signed a contract with IGNEA.
Lost track of what you already reacted to, but it's a band totally woth a check. A good intro is *Alexandria.* The song is inspired by the burning of the ancient town in 48 BC. The video shows up the band recording the song in studio, ideal setup to get to know them.

One of my favourite bands with many, many good songs, especially those re-done by other bands on one of their albums (Army of the Night by Amaranthe as an example).
Also, on the point of cats, they do have a few songs based around werewolves or wolves so maybe that's where that feeling is coming from?
