The Poly Evolver is wonderfully weird... and may be my new favorite synth

- The DSI Poly Evolver Keyboard is both confusing and beautiful, but I've gotten things out of it I've never gotten out of any other synth. It's a bit of a unicorn instrument, and is quintessentially "Dave" in its blend of legacy and innovation.

"It's pure Dave, nobody else worked on it" Dang.. 🖤🖤
Well, it has lights in the wheels, which by default makes it better than most synths.
This video is about 20 minutes short.
Great after sales service sent me 2 noise generator pots when mine went awry, having said that I don’t think I will ever buy DSI or sequential ever again. After only 9 years the plastic oval buttons made contact intermittingly….As to quirkiness and accidental “getting away from you” no…Dave was too smart for that…all the encoders with the exception of the sequencer had the same logarithmic gain in them. I’ll never part with my Arturia matrixbrute or my behringer synths…While Uli may have his detractors he’s put awesome machines within reach of our budgets. Blue ARP 2600 for $1100, Neutron, Pro 1, the list goes on.
I’ll never part with my Polyevolver. Thanks Dave.
I will never sell mine
I lost my job in the tech layoffs so I’m brushing up my skills so hard to come back on the game. Point is, I study where my DSI synths are located and not being able to turn them on is so painful. 😢😢
I had a Prophet VS originally and always liked it. I liked the sound of the Poly Evolver. This could create a great soundtrack for glass cleaner products, with its shiny, sparkly, sounds. Really, this actually sounds interesting. I still wish Dave had made a poly of the Pro 3. Now that would be a synth for me. I love my Pro 3. My Fav synth in some time.
After getting the P6 and getting to know it to me it just feels so different than the other synths I own. Most of us know this P5 but, just going back and looking at the history of his designs is what intrigues me so much about Dave's work. Thank you for sharing this video and we look forward to the interview. Have a wonderful day. Oh yea..take your time on the documentary. We know it's worth it!
Sequential needs a Prophet VS reissue.

GREAT overview. To hear that nobody else worked on the PolyEvolver is crazy! It's a feast for the ears and the eyes.
I have had mine for around 10 years now and incredibly I found the 4 voice rack to bump it up to 8 voices. Wonderful filters and it's low end is astonishingly good.
BEAUTIFUL
I've got a P12 but the PolyEvolver is my most wanted. Love the immediacy of the sequencers.
Greatly enjoyed this video! Looking forward to future videos on the Poly Evolver.
Had a keyboard plus rack for many years. I kinda miss them. They were very special. Sold them to get a Nina and have no regrets though.
Awesome! It sounds so good. I love my Poly Evolver. I'd love to see another video where you dive in to it more, or just show off some cool patches.
Thanks for your work on this, and please do continue to explore these older synths. I, on the other hand, will be busy baking a lovely boxed brownie mix for a dish-to-pass offering at my next G.A.S. Support Group Meeting.
Hell Yes! So happy you are getting into these DSI forgotten gems. Def excited for the P12 episode.
