90% of the anger that happens with delays can be easily avoided if Airlines would bother to keep gateagents informed, and they then pass on the information voluntarily. Leaving passengers in the dark about the reason for the delay, their best guess for how long until etc. is causing almost all the stress that causes the outburst, all that is 100% on the airlines and airports themselves. Also you shouldn't have to ask for a hotel, as soon as the delay is approaching a time where it's needed, they should announce that they're already looking into this for the passengers, again they cause frustration for passengers by not being upfront and proactive.
It is unreasonable to find it annoying when passengers request a hotel room from the airline if their flight is canceled and the next available one is over 18 hours away. Gate agents are specifically trained to handle cancellations and will offer accommodation if certain conditions are met according to the airline’s cancellation policy. It is surprising that you would find such a request bothersome, given that it is a standard and reasonable expectation under such circumstances.
Totally get where you're coming from, asking for a hotel room is just common sense in those situations. The annoying part is the excessive demands that come with it (re-watch that part to understand my point). Thanks for sharing your view. I appreciate it👍
Personally I would never bring my cat on a flight, but dismissing cats as ESA is just ignorant. In my case my kitty quite literally saved my life and sanity after the passing of my wife. As for "some aren't even ESA" .... that is not for you to decide, if the animal is designated an ESA it is an ESA. A real ESA is registered, at least in Europe that is the case and as far as I can tell the same is true for the USA. So every owner of an ESA can prove it is an ESA. I do understand that, especially Americans, can abuse the system with using fake certificates but that is true for any kind of ESA be it a cat, a dog or a duck, but if someone has a legit ESA cat.. deal with it. Upgrades: I am confused, there are people that "deserve an upgrade"? Who are these people?. When do you "deserve" an upgrade?
@mavadelo, that's the point of the annoyance. when they can't prove it and will lie about the pets being an ESA just to keep them. As for the upgrade, yes some people deserve an upgrade. If you paid for it or earned it, then you deserve it more than someone who will lie or manipulate his/her way through it.
