Hey everyone, my name is Roberta. What you see here was a true work of art. I am the youngest daughter of Emile. I played with him on many occasions. This was the only video he was able to make before he pasted away. It is so great to see he is still around in our hearts. He will always be missed.

Odd that your own channel does not even honour his memory with one of his tunes. There are other videos with Emile. Does not ring true at all,

I was there when this video was made. Same day i drew a portrait of Emile in a pub after the filming, "for my wife"-he said, i think it was the day of his birthday. I can see my dear auntie Leslie there dancing with him too. We were all dancing and they started to take shots but then some executive dork told me to get off because i was foreigner(??) i can see there Pamela, and also Noel (sadly gone...)..this was only yesteday. It lasts an instant-live it with heart, FULLY!

Aaah, it's so neat how all these commentors seem to be inter-related: relatives, friends of friends, etc. I'm the great-niece of this wonderful fiddler, though I never knew him. I was really touched, being able to hear his music. I'm a violinist now, too, and my grandmother (his sister, Bernadette) was supposedly a very good fiddler, too, once, though there are no records of her. This is wonderful!

Great Video, I met Émile at Mémorial University in 1978, he came to our class to play a jig and tell a story. He is a great fiddler, however one must not forget that he was ''un très bon Conteur d'histoire'' je suis chanceux de l'avoir connue et de l'avoir rencontré en personne...comme on dit par che nous c'tun bon diable!!! Bonne Fête Émile 100ans déjà.

I was extremely fortunate to see Emile Benoit perform a lunchtime concert at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1984; he was truly wonderful and in high spirits. My nine months at MUN as a French language assistant were unforgettable for a young guy brought up on the shores of the Mediterranean, largely thanks to Newfoundlanders' legendary sense of fun and hospitality exemplified here. Seeing Figgy Duff play live was another highlight of my stay. Thank you for all that beautiful music.

This is Emile's son Jim ... I am so proud of my father Emile for his accomplishments. I also would like to give recognition to my mom Margaret who has always supported him and us children in everything we do. You can also visit our daughter Emile's granddaughter to hear her play one of Emile's tunes "Brother's Jig" on utube at Victoria Benoit Night Kitchen Magical. We will be downloading more of Victoria playing her grandfather's tunes in the near future.

It amazes me how Canadian fiddlers playing that style are able to play and dance at the same time. It must get your body in sync with the music.

I loved, no adored actually, Emile & Rufus Guinchard so very much now if we could only find a way to edit out that self-centered, pretencious, arrogant Kelly Russel from these vids that would be great!
