A man so naive he thought he could be Chancellor, making tax decisions, with a wife using non-dom status to avoid paying taxes. He's a clown, in £500 loafers instead of big red shoes.
Notwithstanding the deficit of 2 trillion GBP and a cost of living crisis Liz insisted in spending huge amounts of public money when doing her relatively minor trade deals to compensate for her lack of social grace and communication skills!!
Truss is a capable junior minister, she's clearly not Cabinet material, let alone Prime Ministerial. Her likelihood of winning speaks volumes about the sheer lack of quality on Conservative benches.
Truss will do and say anything that she thinks will advance her career in the Tory party. Just look at the complete U-turn she did over Brexit, solely because she could see which way the wind was blowing in the Tory party. She's a woman without convictions or principles and as such, an absolute shoe-in to become the next Tory prime minister!
She also utterly baffled new Zealand with her trade deals which allows them to wipe out uk farmers with cheap imports and would start simultaneous wars with both China and Russia
It's terrifying that a woman who is an illiterate uni graduate who has never done an honest day's work can become PM of Great Britain and Nothern Island.

I disagree. If one of our rich was living abroad but still chose to pay tax in the UK, you would hold them in high esteem. I believe we all would. Why then shouldn’t Sunak’s wife, an indian who makes her money in india, pay her tax in India, which is arguably in more need if those receipts? The fact she pays UK tax on all money brought into country, which imagine is a sizeable chunk, is entirely reasonable, IMO.

If any of these sad ignorant fools care to research what her background is and about her father's story, they would show more respect to her. Just because someone is having privileges and is from a rich background does not automatically mean that they are given special rights at the expense of the less fortunate in the country. What is needed is an increase in the production of goods and services, if a country has to survive a recession, which is presently lacking in the UK. The UK needs the same approach as America to have an insurance policy which foots the medical bills. In 2020/21 the Department for Health and Social Care had spent £192 billion. This money is used to fund a wide range of health and care services, including GP services, ambulance, mental health, and community and hospital services, which are commissioned by the NHS, and public health. This is unsustainable in the long run.
The American healthcare system is objectively the worst in the developed world. It's more expensive and many people in the US go without healthcare. Also using data from 2020/2021 is somewhat disingenuous considering that was when the Covid pandemic was at its peak, which obviously required a lot more spending than usual and there was all the corrpution/incompetence around the government's procurment of medical equipment which made the cost even higher. Remember £30 billion for test and trace?
@@Rb39-ej5hh I agree with you that the American health system is expensive and there is a reason for that. Have you heard about lobbying? The senate members are being bribed to make sure that the law they pass does not affect the drug manufacturers. What the senate members have to do is disclose the amount of money they have received in bribery. This puts into question: In whose interest the senate members are serving? It is the consumers or drug manufacturers? The answer is drug manufactures. I am told that American pharmacists can't import cheaper medicines from abroad. There are laws called patent and trademark which allow drug manufacturers to make billions. The whole Capitalist system is rotten to the core. Many countries were also unprepared for covid. Boris Johnson's government had spent £4 billion on PPE which was so useless it has to be burnt. Purchases included 817m items of PPE costing £673m which are defective and could not be used, donated or sold. Why this had happened and what action was taken against the culprits, the answer is nothing.

But isn't the question really if she will listen to her advisors/cabinet? Boris was doing fine until the Cummings Vs Carrie issue. May was okay until the issue with David davis.
Theresa May, it very quickly became apparent, was never OK, indeed she proved to be the worst PM in a very long time, even worse than Gordon Brown, and that is saying something. I voted Leave in 2016, and have always liked and respected Rishi Sunak, and I was always a huge supporter of Boris Johnson, at least until very recent times when he does seem to have lost his way somewhat for reasons which one can only speculate about (I have my own views about that of course, just like many others). As a Conservative Party member I will have a vote in the run-off between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss, who has performed pretty well over the past couple of years with trade agreements, but I also believe the recent negativity toward Rishi Sunak is much overdone. I would have welcomed one of the two finalists to have been Kemi Badenoch, for whom I have a great deal of time, or perhaps Suella Braverman, but hope that both will be under consideration, along with others as yet perhaps unclear, for future leadership elections. Anyway, we are where we are. My strong instinct is to vote for Rishi, but I haven’t yet entirely made up my mind and can imagine a vote for Liz not being entirely beyond the limits of my thinking. Always remember though that at the next GE in 2023 or 2024 the Conservatives will have been in government for 13/14 years and I definitely do not wish to see a Labour government then, or ever, so my decision on whom to vote for will be both shorter term on who is most likely to put in place effective, credible policies and more medium term strategic, who is most likely to avoid the disaster, as I see it, of a Labour or LabourLibDemSNP Government. As I’m also one of those relatively rare (unfortunately) Scottish Conservatives, and NOT a supporter of the current Leader of the ScotTories, I am perhaps more conflicted than most. I believe it was a huge mistake to depose Boris, but in life there are no rewinds, I’m trying to stay open minded between the two candidates for now - but my sentiments above are probably pretty clear.
@@BillCameronWC I agree may was awful and in an ideal world she wouldn't of become pm in the first place but when you remove Brexit from her premiership, what did she do? There is currently a strange concept of democracy. Democracy should mean debate, then voting/choosing and then the majority choice is accepted. At this point everyone supports the majority choice. The SNP is a classic example of this strange concept of democracy when they state that they have a democratic right to overthrow the choice of the majority. Liz Truss voted remain, leave won and now she supports the majority choice of leave. This is the spirit of democratic choice.
Democracy isn't a one-time event Democracy did not end in Scotland in 2014. 2019 general election in Scotland Scottish people voted in SNP 48 MPs up 13 MPs Tories 6MPs down 7 MPs Liberal 4 MPs Labour 1 MP down 6 MPs SNP had Indyref2 in manifesto In the 2021 Scottish parliament election proportional voting system Scottish people voted in 72 MSPs a majority of the Scottish parliament who had Indyref2 in their election manifestos. The SNP have won the last 11 elections in Scotland. The Scottish government has a mandate from the Scottish people to hold the Indyref2 vote.
@@martindornan1667 That illustrates the "new democracy". If the majority doesn't choose your option then instead of working with the majority choice, immediately endeavour to fine a different majority.
@@martindornan1667 In the case of Scotland, democracy is a once in a generation vote. in the case of Brexit democracy is a once in a lifetime vote. These were the terms stated publicly and agreed to by the SNP in those two votes, and suddenly when the vote went the other way, they (and you) want to waffle on that democracy is vote and vote and vote again. One presumes once you get the answer YOU want, the voting will stop. Forever.
@@lesigh1749 Boris Johnson said that he would "rather be dead in a ditch" before he extended Brexit and amazingly he is still alive. Jeremy Corbyn talking about the 2019 Westminster general election said that December's election was a "once in a generation" election. Boris Johnson talking about the same 2019 Westminster general election issued a plea to voters to back the conservative party in a "critical once in a generation election" in December. Are you stupidly saying that because some politicians use some words the next general election is cancelled. The hyperbolic rhetoric used by Alex Salmond in the Andrew Marr interview he said "in my opinion and just my opinion" he also said"once in a lifetime opportunity". In a democracy no politician can tie the hands of future voters in elections and the government that the people vote for.
@@martindornan1667 No, but BOTH referendums on the EU membership and on Scottish independence were agreed by all sides to be once in a lifetime and once in a generation votes going in. Those were extraordinary ballots that are not routine, and the rules for their frequency were fully set out by the governments that arranged those votes and explained at the time and well before the vote. There would be NO further votes on those matters. This was it. one chance to have a say and its a closed matter from then on. This was agreed to and repeated by all sides in both votes, not least as a means to energise their voters to actually turn up and vote. General elections are routine and happen every five years if not sooner, and there is no change to hat merely from the rhetoric of politicians in any given GE. I'm pretty sure you are aware of this distinction between routine General elections and extraordinary one off referenda. If anyone is speaking stupidly, it would appear to be you.
The most interesting thing about these two candidates is that they underline a big problem that extends right acros both the Commons and all political parties in that there is a lack of 'talent' in the sense that neither come across as an obvious PM. The labour Party which after 12 years in opposition, should be looking like a "Government in waiting" but because of the Corbyn experiement is a ramshackle mess led by a personality vacuum has suffered this since the Blair/Brown days. Neither Truss nor Sunak have "curbside appeal" they are both as bland as John Major was as a replacement for Thatcher, a stance he has managed to maintain ever since apart from a curried egg dance along the way. For all the fuss about Boris and yes his time was coming up anyway, it was too easily overlooked that the public knew exactly who and what he was when he was elected Mayor of London but at least he added a bit of colour to the otherwise grey mess of blathering porridge that the House of Commons and the mainstream media have become in recent times.

6:50 I'm surprised (and disappointed) that Andrew Neil has not heard of Laffer Curve and appears to have no concept that tax revenue is a _dynamic_ thing, in that it's not necessary to raise other tax rates if you lower some tax rates: the overall tax revenue _can_ increase even if you _don't_ raise tax rates "to pay for tax reductions in other areas".

A tip meant with love to make these videos more appealing - the two on the bottom could be given some better support to look more tidy and cheerful when not speaking.
I agree with Andrew. Liz Truss is just an expert at playing it safe and stricking a chord with the sympathy of the general public (e.g. tax cuts in the post-pandemic world). Whereas Sunak gets flak for his background, privileges, turning his back on Boris Johnson, etc. What the British public at large does not realise (or choose not to realise) is that despite all these controversies, Sunak can deliver- maybe not in the over-excited way he is claiming- but still it is convincing enough that he will do his best to propel the British economy and overall growth. Whereas Liz Truss, on the other hand, will drag the nation down overall in the long run. I have seen her as a foreign minister saying things that are so cliched and insensitive about the Ukraine-Russia war. Surely, she is only suitable for juvenile college campus politics but not on this level.
But Sunak could never win an election, Britain will NOT vote to bring in a PM from an so-called ethnic minority. He and his wife are chancers who chose here, they have no concept of Britishness and our ways, see Sunak's back stab of Boris instead of supporting him, the nation's choice!
@@davidreed9671 - You must be aware that Sunak is a product of third generation of British Indians. He was born and raised in Britain. How can you say he has no concept of Britishness? Time and again, several politicians have mentioned that he is where he is because of his political merit and other achievements and not due to his ethnicity. His wife has not violated anything. She is an Indian citizen who married a British citizen. She pays taxes in India and as a non-domicile citizen, she is exempt from paying taxes in UK. It is how the British law has treated her case. So, if there is an issue here, the British law needs a reformation and it has nothing to do with his wife. Besides according to reports now she has agreed to pay taxes in some form (not sure what this is all about). With regard to back stabbing Boris Johnson.... maybe because of the timing of how everything unravelled it feels that way... well, no comments on that but in all fairness, how credible was Boris Johnson as PM?

@@davidreed9671 - I completely agree with you. Deep down, I know what is going to be the most likely outcome. Rishi Sunak stands very little chance of winning. The whole point of my argument was to expose the real mentality of the Brits. I am an Indian who has lived in Britain for more than a decade and take a deep interest in world cultures. So, I do understand the British psyche. Also, they don't celebrate anyone who is optimistic, over confident and over-enthusiastic (although that is not Rishi's fault, he exhibits all these qualities to the fullest.. maybe too much for the British to accept). Perhaps, if this was America, this same scenario might have resulted in something more favourable for Sunak. Don't you think?
Also, it is not as if the Brits are unaware of Liz Truss's privileges, background, etc. They more or less know about it and how badly her whole rhetoric is going to translate into the real world if she takes over as PM. However, she is a very convenient target for the local crowd to take a dig at in comparison to Sunak.

Will Andrew be allowed to interview the pair, I am not a supporter of blood sports, but for these two……..

No respect for Andrew Neil now
But isn't the question really if she will listen to her advisors/cabinet?
Boris was doing fine until the Cummings Vs Carrie issue. May was okay until the issue with David davis.
Agree about Boris until Carrie but not about the atrocious May!

2019 general election in Scotland
Scottish people voted in
SNP 48 MPs up 13 MPs
Tories 6MPs down 7 MPs
Liberal 4 MPs
Labour 1 MP down 6 MPs
SNP had Indyref2 in manifesto
In the 2021 Scottish parliament election proportional voting system Scottish people voted in 72 MSPs a majority of the Scottish parliament who had Indyref2 in their election manifestos.

Not really, she'll bend to any political agenda or master to progress her career.
Whereas the rest won’t and don’t? 🤔
Unlike the snake you mean!
@@paulrickett4402 who is the snake?
@@serenityinside1 did I say they wouldn't. But I think Truss lacks any real political colours
@@adamgrimsley2900 sunak, thought that was obvious.
Yesterday’s hustings in Cheltenham displayed how unsuited Liz Truss is for front line politics. She’s very uncomfortable and awkward being questioned, seems over sensitive to any criticism and relies on sound bites to deal with the social interaction aspect of these events. It looks very likely that she’ll be metaphorically torn to shreds at PMQs. I give her three months at the most before the backbenchers start talk of another leadership contest.
Does Andrew Neil know what he's talking about?!
Not really.
When she was at the Foreign Office she didn't seem to be well advised on countries and those countries major issues.
Liz has set the agenda with a strategic and economically literate interjection on free market economics and taxation
Rishi Sunak is a Economist.
Economy drives progress....
Rishi Sunak cares for Tax payer's money,
Money matters, taxes matter
So Only Legals on UK soil , Illegals get out
Rishi Sunak is an ideal family Guy
Family values matter
Rishi Sunak has no charges of crime & corruption.
Integrity matters..
Rishi Sunak pulled UK economy thru tough COVID times..
Tough guys survive tough situations...
Rishi Sunak is young, dynamic, energetic is in-sync with Next Gen of UK
Joe Biden is suffering cognitive mental issues...so is US leadership.
Rishi Sunak is a blessing for UK...with proven capability & leadership. he deserves to be UK PM.....
Oh Katy, Katy....I used to think you were bright. Both these candidates are poison. Poor old Britain.
Neil has always been a self publicist, nothing more.
From one clown to another 🤦♂️
Cos there aren’t any in the Labour Party , are they ? 😳🙄
@@serenityinside1
Of course there are
A circus.
Lizzy would secure labour a landlines. Go Lizzy!!!!
I blame nearly man Farage who pulled the Brexit party at the last minute , and told the voters to vote Boris and the tosserparty . Now you see what damage has been done . Well done Nigel ........Talk the talk , but couldnt walk the walk ....
Do you really think Bier Starmer, a true hypocrite or the liberals would have done better? Imagine Corbyn, the country would really be in dire straits had this idiot lead the country. Boris should have stayed on as PM. Farage can be blamed in contributing, not much, but contributing to The downfall of Boris.
Andrew usually thinks that anyone who doesn't do an interview with him doesn't know what they are talking about. Not necessarily the case maybe some just don't see the point of him interrupting them every 5 seconds.
Absolutely spot on
Andrew Neil seemed to have his 'wasp chewing' face on today! (Does he have new gnashers?)
Yes, I saw that and thought it too. But was far too polite to mention. ;)
@@martycrow I say, 'Throw caution to the wind!'
Why is Andrew Neil getting hate in the comments?
Neil must have either become anti-Tory or is losing his mind.. Of course Liz Truss knows what she's talking about.
Then why is she so inconsistent? She is one of the most ill informed grifters ever to have disgraced politics.
She has failed in every department she's ever wafted through. If she's so well informed, why has she never found a position that she wasn't willing to abandon the moment the wind changed?
@@LudvigIndestrucable She has been popular at the foreign office, and has delivered on dozens of trade deals post Brexit. hardly a failure there.
@@lesigh1749 Ah yes, the fantastic trade deal with NZ and Oz that allows tariff free meat from them with nothing meaningful in return that she has been roundly criticised for due to it being so unfair to the UK.
Sorry, I didn't realise we were chalking up successes for other countries being in her favour.
Yes she does Andrew do you know what your talking about maybe it's time for you to retire altogether.
A tip meant with love to make these videos more appealing - the two on the bottom could be given some better support to look more tidy and cheerful when not speaking.
That’s very deep 🤔
O for goodness sakes!
She looks completely vacant.
Just listen don't glue your eyeballs to the screen lol
Rishi is miles better than Truss. And Rishi is still a disaster so what does that tell you about Truss
@@cybertaiga9534 even if you are right - Tories won't vote for him and the "red wall" won't, it doesn't matter how many generations of his were born here, he is still Indian first. In the polling booth we can choose to support our own with no one to point their finger at us! Though the British people tolerate the multi-cultural society forced on them, they do not believe in it!
Minister Liz Truss seemed unsure when asked how many of 200,000 starter homes pledged by the Conservatives in 2014 had been built. It's easy to remember, states Andrew Neil. It's 'Zero'.
