So I guess I shouldn't say necessarily that they weren't a real band. Just that they were sort of assisted in their songwriting and their rise to fame. Look up something called the "Tavistock Institute"

Dunno the story behind this, but it seems Marr isn't even on it, so basically - an okay, very pedestrian tune, not really Smiths though.
It's all Morrissey's fault. The band was against it from the beginning, but the diva said he wanted to record it anyway. According to John Potter, the original mix was OK, but Morrissey disliked it, so they had to redone it and the ending result was a disaster.
I have an old Smiths CD Maxi-Single with a couple of the bands' last recordings in the studio before their breakup. Trust me, 'I Keep Mine Hidden' is their worst.
