I loved him in The Thorn Birds and Centennial. If Shogun made the list, why did these other really fine mini-series not also make it? SMH

If I had known how popular The Thorn Birds was with fans of this actor I would have included it. Shogun was included because it was also shown in theaters in a cut down version. Thanks for posting.

Wow this has to be your worst list ever. I was waiting for The Thorn Birds to be #1 and I didn't see it anywhere. The Thorn Birds is the quintessential Richard Chamberlain piece even if it's a tv mini series. This is the most surprising list of them all. The Thorn Birds will always be my favorite mini series and maybe because it's a mini series it's off the list. But Shogun was also a mini series. Nope, I disagree with this list 100 %. Richard Chamberlain #1 The Thorn Birds.

Joe, I tried to limit the list to films and TV movies. I wasn't even going to include Shogun but a heavily edited version of Shogun was released theatrically here in Europe. The topic is 'highest rated movies' after all, but a few TV movies have started creeping into my lists.

Top 10 Charts Hey I get it. It's sometimes challenging when an actor is more famous for his or her tv work than in cinema. Farrah Fawcett would be another great example if the burning bed or small sacrifices weren't on the list. Lol The Thorn Birds holds a special place in my heart because it's one of the first memories I had as a child watching something spectacular on tv. It will always be my personal favorite Richard Chamberlain performance and it's probably his most recognizable role along with Shogun

Have to confess I haven't seen The Thorn Birds and only bits of Shogun (Joe gasps), there are many top rated mini-series of the 70s and 80s I never saw, preferring to watch movies instead.
The only TV series I watched in my youth were mostly sci-fi shows like Star Trek, UFO and Battlestar Galactica, but I was a big fan of The Avengers and The Prisoner too.
But when it came to mini-series drama I just couldn't be bothered, I would watch bits of Holocaust and Roots and I would lose interest, but I was in my late teens-early 20s and easily bored back then.
So am I forgiven then? ;)

Top 10 Charts lolol your right I gasped. It's all good. I still am entertained with your lists and the intense music is fantastic especially when it gets to the top 6 or 5. Keep up the good work.

Hi there, I regret not including it. Only theatrical releases were included in that video list and some of Chamberlains TV output was edited for theatrical release in Europe, except The Thorn Birds.

I have seen 8 Richard Chamberlain movies. None of them are TV movies. I may have seen The Thornbirds, I don't remember. My favourite movies are The Towering Inferno, The Three Musketeers, The Four Musketeers, and Twilight of Honor, Claude Rains' final movie. I have also seen The Slipper and the Rose, Petulia, a Thunder of Drums, and The Swarm. Yes, I finally saw The Swarm, flop that it was, because I want to see every Richard Widmark movie.
Favourite posters and stills are from The Towering Inferno, The Three Musketeers, The Four Musketeers, The Slipper and the Rose, The Music Lovers, Twilight of Honor, Joy in the Morning, Quartermain, The first still, and the final portrait.

Hi Flora, I saw The Swarm at the cinema! It was Irwin Allen and I was a big fan of Towering Inferno and Poseidon Adventure. But it's been ages since I saw it on TV, maybe it's worth another look, can't be that bad surely. :) You beat my tally by one, I've seen 7 of these, favorites are The Towering Inferno plus the Three and Four Musketeers . Thanks for commenting, always appreciated. Glad you liked the posters and stills.

Why is Thorn Birds not mentioned, was a great miniseries, and the acting was great, very surprised at this.

I think I allowed only one mini-series on the chart - Shogun? Because a cut down version was released as a movie in Europe, but in retrospect I should have included The Thorn Birds, thanks for posting.

My salutes, and respects to the Great. So wonderful, and splendid has been his acting in the film, " The Count Of Monte Christo ",it made me view the film perhaps more than 10 times. Sir Richard's acting in the film, has been so lively, perhaps it added another life to Sir Alexander Dumas's story. ANJAN SINHA, Kolkata (W.B) INDIA.

Much of the pleasure from these lists is obtained by looking at beautiful artistic posters, but what is that hideous monstrously at 4:48? The worst movie poster I’ve ever seen.

Are you sure you don't want that poster hanging on your living room wall? ;) I used the original classic poster a number of times on various videos, when I saw that one I thought it might make (some) people smile. Thanks for viewing!

Richard Chamberlain? Hmmmm....not too aware of his movies...but he was in Joel's book....it will be interesting to see how popular this video is. Seen #21 The Swarm....horrible but fun movie. #6 The Four Musketeers...fun movie #4 Petulia...his character was pretty nasty. #3 Towering Inferno....great cast...huge hit...good but not great #1 The Three Musketeers....my favorite Chamberlain movie....so glad it was first. Voted up....and shared.

Hi Bruce, at least you're happy with the no.1 film, I was worried Shogun might beat The Three Musketeers and that was originally a mini-series (cut down to 2 hours for theatrical release). I want to see The Swarm again, if only for that starry cast. I have the extended version on DVD 155mins long! Thanks for the vote, share and comment, it is appreciated.
