@@jsauceda9340 It's one-sided though, and Tom realizes that but he still wants Greg in his life. After the whole, "let's wrestle on the ground like chickens" incident, and Greg forcefully saying he doesn't want to be touched by Tom, I believe they have come to an understanding, and in the season 3 finale, when they hug it out, that was definitely a brotherly hug, and the reference to nero and sporus (specifically in the finale episode) was more tongue in cheek. Tom's reference to nero and spoorus in the earlier episode was more serious and a means of conveying his feeling towards Greg. I think at this point in the show, they're more like brothers.
He seems like such a sweet, gentle guy, which makes his short scene in the movie "The Assistant" so devastating that it literally brought tears to my eyes. Great actor; I'm glad "Succession" placed him on my radar.

I love how the sweetest, chillest actors often depict the worst characters. I wonder if you have to be rock solid in your decency to be able to go ALL thew way out there like the characters on Succession do.
You know what? Kudos to the interviewer. It started out unpromising and sounding like every other superficial interview I've seen with poor Matthew re Tom. But then it got better. I loved that he allowed MM to expand a bit and talk about his first day filming and the nerves. Most of the time interviewers interrupt him, trying to inject their lame humor. He rarely gets to finish a long thought.
Such an interesting guy. His voice is so soothing. Was shocked to find out he's British but then I was like "that checks"

i love the scene matt brings up where tom tells shiv they could just run away. it's a moment that proves he really loves her. i know that he gets caught up in the drama and power struggle like everyone else, and i do think WHO shiv is is part of what made him fall for her, but i also think there's a deep part of him that just wants to be admired and included. and he would be much happier looking for that outside of the roys, but i doubt he'll reach that point any time soon :(
yeah he's begging to be loved and appreciated just like the rest of the Roys. Shiv could really have gotten a good husband if she had known how to reciprocate but instead the only one who shows Tom even a little bit of appreciation is Greg lol

The fact that his British accent is so immaculate makes me wonder how he just change it for the show.
Weird. It's just like doing an impersonation. Not that it's easy to stay consistent but it's no different from doing sketches impersonating someone else.
Remember, we grow up here exposed to American accents far more than Americans do English accents (not British as Britain is three countries). Not everybody is skilled or talented with affecting accents but they're not exotic to us.
Alot of British actors do that i.e. Idris Alba
They have coaches. Elsewhere Matthew says that both he and Sarah SNook would just have bad accent days from time to time. What is interesting is that they went with little to no specific Minnesota-isms in the accent. Tom is very generically midwestern in both his pronunciation and inflection. He IS, however, a twisted version of "Minnestota Nice" and at least the dog is named Mondale (who was a senator from MN).

Shiv doesn't love or respect Tom and it breaks my heart.
She loves him but doesn't respect him. Her love language is what she saw as a child from her parents
Matthew's idea of a happy ending for Tom involves both Shiv and Greg... and that SORTA happened! We don't know how Shiv is going to function in such an altered power imbalance where the prize the siblings were fighting over to win Daddy's "love" simply no longer exists. But I think the Greg bromance is solid.

I don't buy this "tom sees himself as a father figure to greg" thing Matthew tries to sell, there's too much tension and innuendos going on, it's actually really weird and twisted to interpret what's going on with them as that after watching their scenes lol

I have impression Shiv is with him ,,just because", I don't see any love or true respect for Tom. She understimate him and doesn't give him value he has, meanwhile rising herself up to the stars in comparison to Tom. So wrong. Looking forward to see how story evolves.
she's with him because he's her lap dog and does what she tells him to do. Her father overlooks her for her brothers. Tom is her safety net.
