    Thanks for the video, Robbie. If I might make a suggestion. Try using RG6 with proper compression style F-Connectors rated for RG6. With those patch cables shown in the video, you are probably experiencing some major dB loss. If proper RG6 cable is used, proper cable stripping techniques are applied, and the correct compression style RG6 F-Connectors are used, you will experience much better performance in terms of signal loss and there will be no need for "Heat Shrink".

    • @GlideyAlmighty
      @GlideyAlmighty 4 года назад +2

      The heat shrink is more or less to keep the ends of the cable protected from the elements

      I have done that with the current setup now that I got the compression tool, I am using dule shield rg6, I have had people recommend quad and even RG8 ruclips.net/video/A-l-LF3io6U/видео.html

    Appreciate your videos and like all your dishes.
    As said in other comments, you should invest in a good compression tool to put on F type connectors. I personally only use weatherproof F compression connectors, Belden RG6 Quad shielded cable and only quality 3m electrical tape.
    When you use cheap connectors , switches and cable you are setting yourself up for huge signal losses.
    Depending on cable quality and type, losses occur through the maximum insertion loss (Attenuation) of the cable at specific frequencies.
    This gets critical at satellite frequencies.....Nominal insertion loss at satellite frequencies is tied to cable type and the quality of cable too.
    Structural return losses are another character of the specific cable too.
    In laymen's terms....Use quality cable, switches and connectors!
    The quality of the LNB is critical. But that's another story. Hobby grade LNB's are basically garbage, but they do work.

    Hello Robbie. How much does a complete satellite reception system for C-Band and Ku band system cost in North America ? I mean Satellite dish, LNB and Receiver. In Romania a complete satellite system for Ku Band reception cost 147 dollars and includes. Satellite receiver, USALS H-H motor, 20 meter (65.61 feet) tri shield coax cable RG6, satellite dish mounting support and 100 cm (39.37 inches) dish. Almost everyone can afford it especially those interested in FTA reception or simply don't want cable. The C-band no one is using or never used.

      For C band your probably looking at $2000 Around. Cheaper if you get used! ruclips.net/video/E44iwzlp4UE/видео.html

    Robbie, when your feed horn throat cover goes to crap, just fill the feed with Styrofoam. The signal goes right through it and keeps the bugs out. I've been doing this for years.

    Robbie, I enjoyed your cband analog video. I’m a analog technology enthusiast. As we know AMC 11 131W cspan is the only analog channel left, have you tried experimenting with a 4 - 5 foot dish on cband with the analog band ? I’m kinda curious to know if you could receive cspan ntsc analog on a 4-5 foot dish. Curious to know. A video would be awesome if it works out! Curious to know.

    I’m brand new to the hobby and just got a C Band dish. I don’t understand what KU band is. If I add a KU LNB to my system, ‘where’ are the KU channels? Currently I get 24 channels (transponders?) on each satellite. Does KU show up on those, or are there separate KU only satellites, or does my receiver need to switch to a KU mode? I’m really confused, but trying to learn

      Thanks give me an idea for a video. Ku band is a different frequency than c-band. With Ku band you can receive it with a smaller dish. But you can receive Ku band with a large c band but not the other way around

    Robbie, I bought this lnb recieveing it in the mail soon. Would you say the ku band on it is circular or linear? The specs didnt say..

    • @RobbieStrike
      @RobbieStrike  4 года назад

      Not sure, I do know that the circular plate is for C band Circular! The KU part of the LNB is a Universal LNB on mine. It get some lower frequency ku band stuff that the standard LNB's cant!

    Your plugs and cable are a signal lost generator BTW. In Canada you're better off using the switch inside. How many switchs did I kill with whether, cold etc...!
    Also my Chinese lnb is the same as yours and I get better signal on Ku even in the North of Quebec province with a 200 foot long cable run.,
    Qualitynew cable and plugs are a must, kills impedance problems.

      If you use a RG6 tri shield coax cable you shouldn't have problems. Maybe a sat amplifier may be required to boost the signal. I use RG6 cables and had no problems. And use compression style F-Connectors instead of cheap F connectors especially if you want to combine OTA TV with Satellite TV using diplexers or Cable TV with Satellite TV
