Ben Tayler strikes again with the epic drone footage! Great riding, scenery and conditions. What’s excellent about this video is you show the ebbs and flows of downwind foiling. Full clips over minutes long. No editing and not just showing the highlights of you speeding down a big trough.
Ben is a legend and huge respect for being able to fly the drone like this in 25 knots. I have another few clips in the pipeline where it was 25knots and the drone was at eye level only a few metres in front of me. I'm always torn with the edits whether to upload the full clips like this or cut it down to just show the highlights, so this is good feedback 🤙
Thanks mate, yep after floating almost the full length of this run with a few tastes of what downwinding felt like i was so stoked to bring it all together on this day and i think you can see the look on my face in the video of how stoked i am. The adrenaline took hours to wear off
Hey, did anyone notice what I think is a whale blowing mist into the air? it was at the 3:38 mark above and behind a bit of Cam. Let me know if you guys see it.
hey Ed, good pickup! yep its a humpback whale migrating back south from the breeding grounds. there were alot around this year and a session or two after this I rode over the top of one. I didnt realise until it was too late and looked down to perfectly see a whale about 1.5-2m underneath me. Was a very surreal moment looking straight into its eye through the water. I changed course immediately to avoid collision.
Thanks mate stoiked you enjoyed the video, I should have said at the start im still a downwind kook so with the lines I'm taking , im just making it up as i go 😅
haha mate I hear you! the runs before this one I had pumped myself to exhaustion and droipped off foil. now i kinda know what to look for so I can rest and try get my breathe back. Even this day in really good conditions before i got settled in i almost came off foil because I was gassed@@iandavidv
Thanks mate, the board is Amos Shapes Sultan 7' x 18" and 100L. I am 75kg and the foil I am using is the lift 150haX with kdmaui 13r tail using a Foilparts tail adpater. I use a 78cm nolimitz v2 mast which handles the big fast drops but also makes paddle ups bearable.
Great looking waves / conditions👍 It looks like your mast has you in a continuous state of recovery from wobbles though, what's another 1500 bucks at this point?
it was epic this day! the mast is rock solid, its my downwind proficiency that you're seeing here. Its so choppy so there are lots of touchdowns and those always throw me off a little, plus when you travel across the wind and it hits the side of the board that also throws you off balance.
Thanks mate! yeah the first guys who got into dw foiling were just using sup foil boards i think which i heard was very hard. you should give it a go if you have a goods spot for downwind

Kudos to Ben Tayler and the drone skills. It was very helpful to see perspective beyond the selfie stick. Good job to you to Cam.
yep Ben is a legend, yep hard to get the perspective on a gopro if you are filming yourself
Awesome!!! Conditions and footage is excellent
That looks like a dream come true. Respect that you did so well and my compliments to what a nice video you made out of the footage

Looked like a few up and overs but what great conditions.
yeah this is my first proper run trying to work out riding the bumps properly haha so still alot to learn
@@camjrdn6318 well done. I’m still in ‘learn to stand’ mode.
thats half the battle! i'll fall in a bunch of times just trying to stand up@@henryhester1897

Epic video . Is there really much diffrence between trying this on a downwind sup for as to doing it on a regular sup foil ?

@camjrdn6318 OK I shall try ! 😆👍🏄♀️🌊🪽👽🌊
