    i'm a proud canadian, glad they won but enough with the canada vs. russia debate. thumbs up if you're glad USA didn't even make the final game! both russia and canada made that possible, so props to russia for that.

      Would rather have had USA any day than Putin's cronies and that's before factoring in the way Russia taunts their opponents and throw tantrums every time they lose. They did it to the US last year and to us this year when they got the 2-1 goal. No class at all, losing looked so good on them

      Thank you. And BTW, IMO the US was Canada's biggest threat and rival in this tournament and the team we feared the most. A Canada - US final would have been far more intense than Canada - Russia, despite how intense the game actually was.

      Dear Russians, much respect to the Russian Team. What a come back, they played very well.
      This was Canada's 16th gold medal at the World Junior Hockey Tournament, and yes, we enjoy these holidays.
      Did Russia also enjoy the holiday the 13 times Russia won the gold medal as well?
      Respect and greetings from Canada.
      PS I lived in Russia for 2 months in 1990, and 2 months in 1992. Beautiful country, many wonderful people! My greetings and respect are genuine.

      I'm Russian, but I live in america. I am a big fan of russia. They are 2nd today, and tomorrow they are champions. I think this team of good skills will the forget about the past and move on to go to win more champions even competing in the olympics. I dont understand people saying their country(Canada) are the best team in the world trying to prove they are the best. I think that competing in this event are all champions no matter what country they are playing.

    So many ignorant comments bashing the losing players.. you do realize this is just one game, in a much bigger sport? So the next time around Canada will loose and what will your reaction be? Way to show class.. fellow Canadians.

      i have 0 respect for russians. after the russians beat us in 2011 and then skated right in front of our players with the trophy, any ounce of respect i have towards any of their teams was gone. i honestly hope some of the players considered suicide after this game.

    • @77dris
      @77dris 9 лет назад +5

      Canada, if they lose (we are the current champions in men's and women's olympics, and the world junior level), we always show class. NOTHING like this will ever happen from Canadian players. Remember when Canada was on it's way to gold in the juniors back in 1987, Canada ahead of Russia 4-2 and outplaying the Russians? What did Russia do? They started a brawl to take the gold medal away from Canada. Of course, being Canadian, we obliged and beat the $@$@ out of the Russians. One of the Russian players head-butted a Canadian, again showing their class! But as Theo Fleury said, "after the lights came back on, there were a few Russian players lying on the ice, knocked out cold!". In other words, don't mess with Canada on the ice Russia.

    • @77dris
      @77dris 9 лет назад +1

      *****
      And also remember Ovechicken using a flag pole or something to destroy center ice after the worlds in Quebec to rip out the "lucky loonie" then cut it in half and wore it around his neck? If I was security I would have went out onto the ice and beat his ass, then tossed him into a cab destined for northern Saskatchewan. If that game had happened in a western Canadian city (instead of Quebec) I guarantee that Ovechkin wouldn't have got away with that. Classless.

    • @77dris
      @77dris 9 лет назад +2

      Even more than being "the best" is the fact that hockey is more engrained in Canadian culture than any sport is in the world.
      A former american Sports Illustrator writer once talked about his life travelling around the world, living in different countries for long periods and covering all sports. He said "no other sport is engrained in a country's culture the way hockey is in Canada. People often think soccer (football) is part of so many countries' culture more than anything, but that pales in comparison to what I saw when I lived in Canada. The next best comparison would be the importance of rugby in Wales, but that was a distant second to what hockey meant to Canada".
      Some say "hockey is just a small sport played by a few countries" but first of all that isn't really true, but most importantly, ask any Canadian if he/she cares if the rest of the world plays "our sport" and you will almost always get the answer... "no I don't care". It's not just a sport here in the Great White North, hockey is part of our culture.
      I grew up in a small rural western Canadian town, and all we really had when it was -20c or colder for 6 months at a time was hockey. The junior players for our local teams were our "rockstars", our "heroes". Getting a stick from one of the top players from your local junior team was like a getting a guitar from Jimi Hendrix! That's why the World Junior Champioinships mean more to me than anything in the NHL, maybe more than the Olympics. If Canada could always ice it's best players for these JR tournaments (since the best are usually in the NHL), we would win most of them (we already have the most wins by far). During NHL lockout years Canada has always won the JR championships. The best JR hockey team ever assembled was during the 2005 NHL lockout year, and Canada destroyed every team they faced.
      Anyway, I look forward to this tournament every year, and the fact that more Canadians watched this final game than any other TV show in Canadian history says a lot. (Up to 25 Million viewers at various points, that's in a country of just over 30 Million).
      Btw, I must add that for the most part, the Swedes, Finns, Czecks, Slovaks all show much class (which is why Canada fell in love with the Slovak goalie Godla and gave him ovations he will never forget). It's just something with the USA and Russia that makes their teams act in a very unsportsmanlike manner. I remember team USA trying to cause problems at the benches after goal celebrations, same with the Russians. I remember the USA Women's hockey team taunting a Canadian player because her dad died just before the first Olympics where Women's hockey was held.
      Hats off to the rest of the hockey world for embracing Canada's game!

  • @hryciuk5674

    Anyone who tries to say Canada should have lost is delusional. I'm not going to blame the refs for everything, but very questionable calls and non-calls, almost makes you wonder where they were the first 30 minutes of the game.
    Any ways, so proud of my country! It was long overdue. I literally cried tears of joy because we are back on the top. That was honestly the longest third period of my life. The crowd was electric and to go from what was quite frankly a very poor showing at the 2014 world juniors, this was phenomenal. Every player did their part and the team was near perfect.
    WAY TO GO CANADA! Win or lose, I'm proud of you all!

    Canadian Olympic team: never lost a game, never trailed in the tournament. Canadian world junior team: never lost, never trailed in the tournament. Any questions?
    One last thing. I have zero respect for this Russian team after skating in front of the Canadian bench celebrating like they just won the game. As well as a player throwing his stick into the crowd after losing like a little bitch. Americans you deserved to play us in the final and it would've been a hell of a game. You were my biggest fear going into the tournament

    • @stefanalexmedrano92
      @stefanalexmedrano92 9 лет назад

      Agreed entirely. I actually thought they might win because they had a star of their own in Eichel and didn't have the monumental pressure Canada faced. Unfortunately they lost their heads early against Russia and though they dominated the majority of the game they couldn't get out of the hole they'd dug. As for Russia, that celebration after their first goal was typical; they did the same against the US last year and in 2005 there was such taunting that the Yanks publicly begged us (Canada) to beat them; Russia have something of a consistent track record with this. The way we played I think we could still have beaten the US, but it would have been an absolute blast to face them again regardless.

    Что же, проиграли в целом по делу. Нельзя было так отпускать канадцев - это не есть признак класса. Но то, что проявили чисто канадскую черту - вытаскивать игру при любом счёте, - это дорогого стоит. В 3 м периоде за воротами канадцев отчётливо ощущался запах ГОВНА и их вратарь не успевал проветривать трусы - это же надо было видеть . и нюхать. Канадцы задрожали, как кленовые листья, - " Всё! Снова упускаем русских!" - думали они в панике и встали автобусом у своих ворот. Весь "красный" стадион дружно валил в штаны на протяжении всего 3 го периода. И ЭТО с ними сделали наши ребята! Браво!

    Sad that the refs tried to fuck over Canada once they went up 5-1. All of the sudden, 3 phantom calls, several missed calls against Russians. Sad

    • @tagerung90
      @tagerung90 9 лет назад

      my favorite was the boarding call that was missed, when I think Petan was put face first into the boards in the first half. Calls were horrible

    • @jsmith5190
      @jsmith5190 9 лет назад

      Tony Teichroeb
      Are you seriously whining after they still won. Petan turned so it wasn't a boarding call,Domi jumped so it was a charge, the dmen tripped him, Virtanen's shouldn't have been a penalty though. Canada got away with a lot of stuff in the last 8 minutes. Learn hockey before commenting. You're making Canadians look bad

    • @tagerung90
      @tagerung90 9 лет назад +1

      J Smith
      The Canadians got nailed with penalties. The commentators were talking about it and there were blatant misplays by either side.
      Just be thankful Russia was never called for anything, besides the roughing. call they were let off. They would have been buried otherwise.

    That's the most goals another country has scored against Canada in a single game this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but was that half the goals scored against Canada throughout the tournament? Nice job, Russia. You should be proud for at least that.
