Very interesting to see a true "old school" depot even if it is after BR days. Last time I was there was an open day in the 80s, that was good too. I got talking to a bloke there and, strangely, like me, he was from West Sussex and worked 6 miles from me and we meet all the way over in Cardiff ! When I got back to Paddington and on the underground, I came across a lot of excited Bruce Springsteen fans who had just seen him in concert in London. Hadn't thought about that for ages so thanks the video Mike, it brought back some good memories. Seeing those low numbered 56s also reminds me of a Doncaster open day and the 56s all being built.
Excellent video Mike. A great and fascinating insight to Canton depot. Great selection of locos that were on show. Enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
When 56001 & 56002 arrived in the UK from Romania they were transferred to Tinsley and I was on shed in August 1976 when both Loco's were backed in to the maintenance shed in the British Rail shiny blue livery by a class 31
